  1. Dear me, it's almost a one man vendetta....you won't be satisfied until Redcar have paid of the Greek bale-out and have been thrown out of the league. Your comparison with the football incident is bordering on the ridiculous
  2. Fined a substantial sum.....? For naming an incorrect rider for a R/R in one heat? Some people might think you want Redcar Bears to go out of business
  3. Redcar made a mistake, as did the referee, by allowing Kus to take the R/R,they didn't , in my opinion, cheat. Presumably you're also labelling the referee a cheat then?
  4. The team manager / promoter doesn't need any help making an arse of himself.
  5. I don't think any riders really wanted to carry on.Despite significant track grading before the meeting the tractors were out after 2nd heat, I think because of riders requests. I don't blame any of them for not wanting to continue if they believe their safety is compromised and I imagine the majority of the crowd was sympathetic to their decision. However they won't be as sympathetic to the promotors.....there was a lot of ill feeling mixed wth despondency and air of "the end is nigh" hanging around the track
  6. What a shambles. Track was obviously substandard before the meeting started and the 4 heats that took place confirmed it. The crowd knew that the meeting would never go 15 heats and its anyone's guess how many more supporters we have lost because of this latest debacle. I seriously wonder if we'll even see the season out. It's so disappointing because things could be so much better but it'll take more than cosmetic surgery to fix these problems. I didn't even win the 50/50 draw! At least there's no meeting next week.....up to now!
  7. I don't think anybody wants to see Redcar Speedway close. I've only attended one meeting so far this season, partly because of other commitments, and, to be truthful, I wasn't very impressed with what was on offer. Sometimes the only way to get your voice heard is to" remain silent" and stay away. Often. by attending week in week out, those in power will merely presume that all's rosy in the garden and merrily carry on as they are doing. I wouldn't necessarily stay away to voice my opinion but its each to their own and I can fully understand why people will refuse to go whilst the current promotion is in charge if they have issues with them. I'm a long standing Boro fan and, if I stayed away every time I didn't like something that the club were doing, I'd have missed a hell of a lot of matches over the years! I choose to support the club but it doesn't mean that i support every decision they make. Are you saying that the new investors would bin the speedway and introduce stock car racing instead or is that just a throw away comment? I think that there are potential investors willing to breathe new life into the speedway if they are given the opportunity.
  8. So its fair that a club signs a rider after another club but happens to be in the same league as the club that owns him, has first call on his services? If that sounds long winded and difficult to understand...that's speedway and typical of how it manages to alienate supporters and potential supporters Serious question - Why is his priority to the league and not a club?
  9. Thanks once again...British Speedway and your farcical rules. The season has yet to start and we're already getting crapped on. Hardly seems worth the effort to contemplate how your team might fare when there's no guarantee that your main rider(s) might even be available for a number of your meetings. By my reckoning it's likely that Stuart Robson will probably miss 5 meetings for the Bears because he is committed to ride for Coventry No wonder speedway finds it so hard to convince people that it's a creditable sport
  10. "Refusing" is probably the wrong word but the point I'm trying to make is that the promoters make it extremely difficult for anybody to help them. I agree, lowering prices is a no-go, unless it's on special occasions or selected matches. What you're basically saying is that the sport isn't attracting additional supporters therefore it falls upon existing fans to keep speedway alive. Sadly I would have to agree with you.
  11. As the pigeon with a broken wing said ..."it's a matter of opinion". £20 may not be too deep for some but, if you were struggling to pay £15 every week to watch a sport you love, then £20 will probably make you pick and choose when you go. Also, before it's mentioned, it's not always as easy as saying "well forego something else" when something else is your rent, food or heating allowance etc. Regarding sponsorship, and I can only refer to my own club, they have had opportunities to accept tremendous sponsorship deals and offers to improve the current promoter's group but refused to do so. You can only look a gift horse in the mouth so many times before the opportunities dry up and stubbornness ends up being extremely costly and final.
  12. £20 is a lot of money when your struggling to pay £15-£16 each week for a sport that you do value. If you can't understand that concept or why people do go to speedway then there's no mileage in this discussion. Why is the first port of call to boost the sports's finances the need to increase admission fees? Why not look at better sponsorship / television deals? Your argument smacks very much of the way my team's promoters view things...hit the supporter with the threat "if you don't pay up you'll lose the sport" - emotional blackmail in other words. Speedway supporters are fair minded and rational people but no mugs.
  13. Prepared to pay £20 may not be boastful or attention seeking, but it does suggest an entrance fee that will kill the sport. i am still struggling to understand what benefits it has, especially for the paying punter....£20 for 15 minutes entertainment, no-goer in my books. Charge £20 and you'll soon have empty stadiums and clubs going to the wall
  14. Sorry for hi-jacking this thread with a random question but what's the latest on Suchanek coming to Redcar?
  15. Well, who'd of thought that a little post like this could get 50 plus posts....then you look through and see that maybe half a dozen actually refer to the subject matter! For what it's worth I would suggest that there's more chance of being nettled to death that TS returning to the Bears but stranger things happen. Doubt it would be a very popular signing for quite a few Bears fans and can't see it improving the current squad sufficiently as to make any real impact.
  16. Aye, I knew it was! So was mine. Apparently tonight's meeting is still on but, as further rain is forecast for the rest of the day, I can't see it going ahead. The track is supposedly ok as things stand, but I reckon a few more downpours might put pay to any racing tonight. Fair point about the 8-1 scenario although I'm surprised that The Law didn't assist more as he's done so on a few occasions at the SteMP.
  17. Nice. i wish the weather was a little better here today and we could repay the compliment
  18. Please can you tell me the lottery numbers for tonight!
  19. He has more chance of being nettled to death than coming back to Redcar! After all the help, support and loyalty shown to him by the Bears and their fans he soon took his pieces of silver to move elsewhere. Good luck to him finding at place elsewhere but it won't be at the STeMP !
