  1. Maybe, but there's a difference between taking few or no risks and riding like a complete donkey/novice!
  2. Having cleared out my dad's loft, I have found a large box of Birmingham speedway programmes (completed) from the 80's and maybe a few from the 70's. I also have a box from more recent years since the club's return in 2007. My Dad used to include cuttings from local newspapers about the matches and kept them with the relevant programmes. Before I offload them, would this something anyone here may be interested in adding to their collection or know of someone who may like them/be able to sell them? I've asked Bev, Nick Barbers sister who said Nick would not be interested. Let me know if you want to have a look and a sort through. In Birmingham not far from junction 7 of the M6. Many thanks. Sarah
  3. There is a Wetherspoons over the road at One Stop, a KFC, Burger King, Greggs, Subway, and of course Asda (but no café).
  4. Programme collectors! I have envelopes full of complete Brummies programmes, scorecards and various associated speedway star and newspaper cuttings for seasons 2012 to 2019. Anyone interested in collecting them can do so (from Perry Barr or I will post at your cost) either for a particular season or all of them, for a donation to either the Benevolent Fund or the Birmingham supporters club (donations made to me in exchange for goods, and I will then make the appropriate donations to whichever beneficiary you prefer). If noone wants any or all of them, I will donate the lot to the Brummies club shop to sell in complete year envelopes. Message me on here if interested Report to moderator 87.115.161.223
  5. A lot of this is probably be due to there being no speedway in Birmingham for 21 years. I was 17 when it closed after the wheels. I was brought up with speedway as my dad had been a young fan himself at Perry Barr when he was a child. Birmingham lost those generations of prospective new fans between 1987 and 2007. Unfortunately during those 21 years life and what to do with your leisure time changed massively too.
  6. Didn't Tony Mole apply one of the years Newport were first unable to run it and the Council said no? If he didn't I've obviously mis remembered!
  7. Mr King certainly won't score as poorly this evening as he did on his last visit!
  8. Star City does not have any shopping. There is a large cinema there, a casino and a few eaty places. There is a shopping park close to star city call The Fort (near Fort Dunlop) but just general shops nothing exciting. Shopping in the Bull Ring/Grand Central or The Mailbox in the city centre may be considered slightly better shopping areas.
  9. There is the Sealife Centre in the city centre. It'd take about 30-40 mins to get to perry barr from town (quicker if no traffic). There is also a children's farm at Sandwell Valley and in the adjoining park there is a large play area. There are also lakes and an rspb area in Sandwell Valley that you can walk around. You'd be at Perry Barr in about 10 mins from here.
  10. Maybe Emil has been persuaded to double up.....
  11. I'd imagine if you made an offer to the promotion to pay the wages of the 'best team manager in your opinion' along with their travel and other expenses, you could have anyone you wanted! I'm sure Nigel would be happy to sit and discuss this with you.
