  1. Wouldn't be so bad if it was at the end of the meeting - we could leg it if we were quick enough. But the damn dirge is at the beginning of it - just after we have sat down!
  2. Err but if Lambert gets a proper average the PL conversion would be about a 9. You want to swap Schramm for a 9 pointer??
  3. His scores in the PL have been pretty missable!
  4. But once he gets an EL average (soon I assume) surely that needs to go through the conversion to get to a PL one?
  5. Even if the BSPA changed the rules for Lambert, surely the multiplier would work against him. I don't know his current average - say it's 5.5 for argument's sake. That would convert to a PL average of over 9. Even if they took his current assessed 3.00, that would give him an equivalent of a 5.0 in PL terms. So how could Newcy ever get him on a 3?
  6. Did well enough to get the track record at Peterborough last week.
  7. Tracks were certainly graded after every race in my younger days. Meetings certainly didn't take any longer to finish either.
  8. Schramm looks to be on 4.00, but Stevie is on 4.22. And he will be the junior reserve!!
  9. Couldn't agree more. Not being a Panthers supporter, but living within an hour and a half away, I have been a more than casual attendee at the showground this year, in fact I have only missed one meeting. I have also been to Ippo and Rye this season and am waiting for my first trip of the season to Mildenhall. I don't support any of those teams either. The last 3 are all within about an hour's range. Lakeside is a similar distance away but I can't be bothered fighting the M25 on a Friday. However in the absence of an explanation for the postponement, I'll be surprised if I am in a rush to go back to Peterborough until Monarchs come visiting again. I certainly won't be there next week even if they phone me up and ask me to go for free. It's such a shame because the racing is generally very good especially compared to the bore-fests that are Ippo and Rye. I may watch Eastenders instead. At least I know it will be shown when advertised.
  10. Speedway should not have been scheduled for the day after Truckfest then.
  11. Didn't see his tyre touch them but would have needed to see it again!! Thanks for the update.
  12. Loads of Edinburgh fans now out of pocket for hotels, flights, train fares, petrol, etc. If it's always bad after Truckfest, why the hell was a speedway fixture scheduled for the next day?
  13. That's just unreal. A health & safety issue it says. From their website............. PETERBOROUGH have been forced to postpone their eagerly-awaited Premier League showdown against Edinburgh tonight (Tuesday). The East of England Showground clash has been called off due to a healthy and safety issue which is unlikely to be resolved today. Co-promoter Trevor Swales said: "It is a very unfortunate situation and we are absolutely gutted that we cannot race tonight. "It is no-one's fault but a health and safety issue has arisen and we don't expect to be able to rectify it in a matter of hours.
  14. Having ignored all food outlets, based on previous experience, I thought it was an average kind of day. The racing was - average. Nothing great to write home about. Gates 3 & 4 were the places to be. So why did Panthers choose 1 & 3 in heat 15? Only Ostergaard had done anything from there and that was in the previous heat. The track was - average. Not that much in the way of passing. I'm sure the regulars can tell me the facts, but there appears to be a bit more banking on turn 2 - is this correct? Not that was much in the way of overtaking round the outside. At least they kept the dust down apart from on bends 3 & 4. What is the rule on tape touching with your helmet? I thought that was allowed nowadays? Bowen seemed to catch the tapes with his lid in heat 10 but was thrown out despite trying to show the ref it was his lid that touched them. And below average - the presentation. Gawd it's dull over there. Long silences, long periods with just music. No interviews. Very little announcer chat. Not good enough in this day and age, especially on a hot day. And above average - we won the 50/50 draw so ended up with a small profit to cover the costs of Rye plus Peterborough in one week!!
  15. That was stupid. Did you not read previous forum comments about them - especially the fish? That's fish with a small f!
  16. Yep if Wee Joe could come back in then we might have a chance. I fear Stevie is going to suffer burn-out sooner rather than later. His schedule is just insane.
  17. Sounds like a very tight affair and got there in the end despite a few dodgy moments on the way Still don't see us winning the league though.
  18. Another good reason for getting rid of Tactical rides then!!
  19. Helmet colours are in such varying shades nowadays that even they are not a reliable guide for colour blind folk like me. At least the old yellow/black was a good identifier in the past. But now just plain yellow could be anything heading towards orange. As could the red. So I give my big shout for individual rider colours, not the all clones together team race suits Especially under the grim lighting at Ippo!!
  20. Oh damn. Plough fest it might be then. I suppose Cookie's moto x background might be a help then!!
  21. I think Crazyb meant 1500 in the stadium rather than just the stand. I reckon the stand was about half full so 1500 overall sounds fair.
  22. One of the advantages of televised speedway is that it allows the promoter to actively market the event in the way that Peterborough did yesterday. A coupon in the local paper allowed entry for a fiver as did buying tickets through Sky Tickets. That would have enticed a fair few newcomers to come along, as was commented on the night by Mick Horton (?). I don't know how much the promoter gets from Sky for hosting the event but I'm sure it goes a long way to balancing the reduced admission charge. And if you put on a show like they did last night, that's the way you are going to get newcomers coming back which is what it's all about. It was a reasonably smooth run last night, with only the Rosen crash understandably causing much of a delay. Even in the couple of unsatisfactory start races, all 4 were straight back to the tapes without revisits to the pits to check their make up! The interval after heat 10 was restricted to 5 minutes as planned too. Just need to cut out the gardening time now!!
  23. But it's the same if you watch football live at lesser grounds. We have got so spoiled by tv that as soon as there is an incident we want to see the action replay. Go to the match live and your first thought is - I need to see that incident again, but you can't because there's no facility there. What's the incentive to go to a televised speedway match. No action replays, slo-mos, any of that. Chilly nights, less than ideal surroundings. Watch it on the tv and you can see an incident from half a dozen camera angles in slo-mo again and again. You would never have caught that if you were there live because of the speed involved. I thought the Fish may not have given Lindgren enough room in heat 13 last night when Ludde clattered the fence on the home straight. The tv replays on my phone showed that Fish was nowhere near him and Ludde hat clattered it all on his own. (He did incredibly well to stay on and just about nick it on the line.) Tv has probably contributed to the demise of speedway, but more because of its very existence than because some matches are on the box each week.
