  1. The fixture should not have been there in the first place. Everyone knew that England had a World Cup match on that night when the draw was made on 6th December 2013. That's the whole point.
  2. So, you reckon a minority sport, watched by thousands, should try and compete against a major sport watched by millions? There's only going to be one winner there. It would be madness for Redcar to run against the England game, especially if England could qualify from the Group stage, which is why the fixture should have been an 'Open' fixture on the fixture list to begin with, rather than realise the crowd would be poorer than normal, just a fortnight beforehand.
  3. Given all Sheffield's postponements at Owlerton recently, they might not have a choice but to run that night (weather permitting, obviously!).
  4. The World Cup fixtures were known the same night as the draw was made on 6th December 2013. No excuses. This is shoddy (to be kind) by Redcar. Then you wonder why crowds are falling.
  5. Newcastle until about 6 (Just after the bikes start to get warmed up) in a 'viewing area.' Once ALL racing (inc. any second half) is completed they can then usually come into the pits.
  6. No. R/R (unless 2 or more of the 1-5 are missing). Only allowed a guest for ACU riders in FIM meetings.
  7. Depends when the practice is. It might be Friday and even then depends, if it is Saturday practice, at what time.
  8. Can you do any of that without planning permission?
  9. Might have something to do with all the rain we had the previous day? The track was underwater on Sunday morning, don't forget.
  10. Jensen was a lot quicker than Vissing and Jensen couldn't slow down to let Vissing overtake due to the close proximity of Ludde.
  11. After the meeting Ludde went out on Robbo's bike and Robbo went out on Ludde's bike. Ludde flew out the traps and left Robbo in his wake twice. I believe they might now know what the problem is, so hopefully he will begin making starts,
  12. Midland Red is correct, I did mean postpone the meeting. I perhaps should have made that clearer.
  13. Perhaps common sense would have been to pull this meeting 3 or 4 hours before the meeting should have started, rather than the hour and a half after it should have started? Also, Dick told us "all the riders want to ride," which, according to at least one rider 'brave' enough to tweet, wasn't true. Hope the few that can attend on Monday see a decent meeting on a decent track. I'm one, no doubt of many, that can't make it.
  14. You were the one to bring that one up. It might well be a "different coin," but both could well come up with similar obstacles that would have to be overcome. If you don't look and anticipate any obstacles, you are on a hiding to nothing.
  15. Dan Greenwood and Simon Nielsen will guest for the Diamonds at Reserve (Berwick ENewsletter).
  16. No agenda, as you put it. I will be absolutely delighted if the National Stadium happens. I will be applauding loudly if there is an English/British GP held there as it saves travelling all the way down to Cardiff (I haven't been to Cardiff for a number of years, although attended half a dozen, but would love a 'change of scenery' for the said GP and could actually help me male a decision to go to the GP again). I'm just putting 'the other side of the coin,' which, is, after all, what discussions are all about.
  17. Met office website (metoffice.gov.uk) says heavy rain from 3pm right through to 9 - 10pm. Hope it changes. Should be a cracker of a meeting.
  18. All I've said is that it would have many obstacles to overcome, I have never said anything like that it is a task of biblical proportions. If you think putting speedway anywhere, where it isn't currently, is a task of little or no effort (no matter who is behind the scheme), then I suggest you look at all those which have tried in the last few years and failed (Bristol, Exeter etc., etc.). Which is why I apologised!
  19. on a plate phrase of plate 1. informal used to indicate that something has been achieved with little or no effort.
  20. If you are going to name call, at least spell it correctly. It may have held "noisy events like rock concerts" in the past, but 7 months of a noisy event every week, is a bit different to the occasional rock concert. Still..... as Arthur Cross has already said (more than once), it's hardly "on a plate," no matter how you try to "butter it up." Oh, and while we are on, yes, indeed, I am one of those who say the Elite League isn't "Elite." Even more so now that they have National League riders in it. Apologies. In your post, you mention Armadale. Then on line 2 you mention Coventry. Then in line 3 you say there is no railway line. I (wrongly) assumed you were still talking about the Ricoh, not Armadale. I mention Google Maps as, everyone can go onto it and see the location of the Arena. By the way, for your information, I have visited Armadale on numerous occasions!
  21. And pray tell how the heck do you know where I have visited only via Google????? Contradiction there, I believe!
  22. The post they refer to suggests "irons in the fire" about a new 7pt asset. But that post was over a month ago.
  23. No. But those who moved in since 2012 will have been well aware of the railway track and the empty football stadium (with the possibility of the return of football). The additional 15 heats of speedway and the announcements over the P.A. system would be in addition to what they would have expected when they moved in. Very similar to those who have moved into the houses at Armadale. They would have been aware of the speedway track outside their front door, when they moved in, so they have no complaints, whereas those near to the Ricoh could have complaints, as it wasn't used as a speedway venue when they moved in.
