  1. Firstly, appreciate you coming up last night and introducing yourself. Unfortunately we didn't learn too much more than what we already knew, although it was interesting to hear about the possibility of having an NL side to add to the Championship side sometime in the future. I just hope they know what they are doing with that one. It was great to sit next to ex-Pits Marshal Ivan Stevenson last night, who told me one or two stories from the distant past. Hopefully we can put a competitive team together for 2019 and, for what it's worth, I'd have Tero and Ash the top of my list from the current line-up to return next season.
  2. Different type of track entirely though! I'm a Newcastle fan (although I have always said I'm a speedway fan first and a Diamonds fan second), and I am looking at all this from the outside and just playing 'Devil's Advocate' and trying to look at things objectively, without any bias for or against Sheffield as a team or it's promotion.
  3. Andersen's first meeting there presumably, so it might take him time to learn the track, possibly? Bike problems before the meeting (and presumably during the meeting), apparently.
  4. But you are totally over-looking the fact that two of three Sheffield riders you name are on assessed averages. So to compare the averages is erroneous at best. Also, how long have said Sheffield riders been riding, compared to the three Diamonds riders you name? As far as I can see, the Promotion aren't hiding anything. Kyle Howarth has publicly stated that riders are being paid, so that conspiracy theory is blown completely out of the water. Teams/riders go through bad patches. Why do some fans look for an undercurrent, which 999 times out of 1000 isn't there?
  5. It was another terrific effort by Jonny Swales and his track staff team to get the meeting on:
  6. Here is what Robbo says on Facebook: I’ve just had a read of the report on BSPA site from last nights meeting and thought i should probably comment on it. I didn’t openly admit that I wasn’t touched coming into the corner, I said to Paul that I wasn’t sure if he hit me or not, either way the ref made the right call as I had nowhere to go and I didn’t fall on purpose, he came under me pretty hard and took my front wheel and I couldn’t turn the bike into the corner. It was a racing incident that could of went either way with the decision and without video technology to view it from different angles the ref has to make a call on what he saw from where he was.
  7. 20th August South Gosforth CIU Club @7.30pm
  8. Got to be one of the first names on the teamsheet for 2019, surely? Well done the Diamonds. Cheered me up in my hospital bed no end!
  9. Fixtures update: Away Glasgow Friday 31st August Home Scunthorpe Sunday 9th Spetember
  10. Last season 2010 with Edinburgh according to this: http://wwosbackup.proboards.com/thread/1755/william-lawson
  11. It p**sed down all night and most of the morning. Whether it's raining now, or not, is pretty immaterial as the track was flooded. 7.45pm and starting to hammer it down
  12. The thinking behind it might well be that they aren't going to get into the play-offs, so might as well take a look at the Dane, as they've got nothing to lose if it doesn't work out.
  13. Would Keith Denham come back? And, if he did, would the Comets fans welcome him back? Not saying for one minute that Laura, Steve etc., should go, but if they were, just asking the question.
  14. Not just Workington's finances, but when they are away from home (like on Sunday vs Newcastle), I am sure fans will think twice about turning up, so it could/will (delete where applicable) affect other club's finances too.
  15. Obviously not. If you were sacked from your place of employment on the Thursday, would you go to work the next day?
  16. I think that has very little to do with it. The fixtures were announced before the season started with Workington having a few Friday meetings in it, but the carpet has been pulled from under their feet in that regard. The promoters of all teams due at Workington on those Friday's must have agreed to the fixtures, otherwise they wouldn't have been released with those fixtures listed. Not to worry though it's all "in the best interest for the sport."
  17. I have asked that very question in reply to the above Tweet. That was a few hours ago and, surprise, surprise, haven't received a reply!
  18. Forecast doesn't look overly clever, but fingers crossed it's wrong! According to the 'official' Workington blurb, this is a re-arranged fixture (answers on a postcard...) and they will be using NL guests for both Nicolai Klindt and Rene Bach, who have decided to ride in Poland instead.
