  1. The meeting against Berwick is a "Challenge" match, so an agreement between the two teams could be met, if necessary.
  2. We are at Berwick that night, in the 1st leg of the Tyne/Tweed Trophy, so, hopefully, any new number one will be at Berwick riding for us!! It's happened once or twice before - Metej Ferjan in 2004 was a mighty c**k up, but not totally of Newcastle's doing - and I remember we announced Savalas Clouting (I think it was) and they told Will Beveridge he was being dropped, only for them not to be allowed to sign him and having to go back to Will and ask him to carry on riding. Once (or twice!) bitten etc.
  3. Firstly, I have never told people "to be quiet." This is an open forum and people are entitled to their opinion, that will never change. Secondly, I have as much idea as to what is happening as you and, I presume, most fans, but, I would still say "be patient," as I would rather think positively, rather than negatively. If that's "irritating," then sorry, but that's just tough, because I think everything will be alright and that's my opinion/hope. Just to add, I am as frustrated as most fans seem to be. I am a fan too, at the end of the day.
  4. Perhaps it would have been better for them to say "We should be able to release good news soon," rather than put any timescale on it?
  5. Maybe being the appropriate word in that sentence.
  6. Ostergaard, Stewart and Nicholls added to the Cumberland Open.... http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100905
  7. For those wanting a statement: http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100838
  8. And we get loan fees for both, of course
  9. He's signed for Stal Rzeszów for 2018: https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/725977/stal-rzeszow-potwierdzila-kontrakt-z-kolejnym-zawodnikiem
  10. I know it's easy to get frustrated not knowing, but, I'd guess, not as frustrated as the Promotion/Club Owners are at not having a 1-7 in place yet. Quite why they "have to bring out a statement," I really don't know, because we know what the would statement would be. As "ruffdiamond" says, why would people "in the know" put their hands in their pockets, if there is even a slightest possibility of not running?
  11. Would the fans support an NL team? I know NL would be cheaper riders wise, but it would be the same outlay for stadium rent (I doubt they would reduce the rent just because we would be in a lower league), Ambulance cover, Ref fees etc. Bearing in mind we are down to the hardcore fans as it is, dropping down to NL doesn't necessarily mean it will be any easier on the finances, but, at the same time, any speedway is better than no speedway.
  12. I can see/rather have the following: 1. Yet more inconsistency. 2. Just award the race 3. Not a problem with that, as such, but I've always felt heat 15 should be the top two scorers on the night (if fit to race) from each side. P.S Good luck to Danny P.
  13. To what day?..... Monday Prem Lge, Tuesday Prem Lge, Wednedsday Prem Lge, Thursday Dogs, Friday Dogs, Saturday Dogs..... Answer on a postcard....
  14. It's off topic (i.e nothing to do with Scorpions 2018!), but we (Newcastle) have 13.40 pts left and I would hope we won't go 8 + 3.5, leaving us 2pts short.
  15. Not quite true. He has become a Diamonds asset, he has not been declared in the 1-7 for 2018.
  16. It might depend on the particular League, but as far as I know (at least when I ran a Sunday Morning pub team), if a player had signed a professional contract, he couldn't sign for a Sunday Morning side.
  17. Yep. And Hull, and Trelawny, and Newport, and Reading, and Wimbledon, and Coventry, and... well, I think you get my drift.
  18. I used to love our trips to the Isle of Wight. Just a shame we had to (usually) visit Exeter the night before!
  19. I believe that they originally said the announcement would be made after the winter series and open days and the one that impressed the most would get the final spot in the team. I think the weather put paid to most, if not all, of those.
  20. Andrew Tully was injured during Newcastle's P&P (also a broken vertebrae) and we were allowed R/R, but, obviously that was a speedway injury. Something in the back of my mind says Dickie Juul was injured pre-season and it was argued that, because he'd ridden for us the previous season, we could use R/R, but had he been a new signing, we would have had to find a replacement (I am sure someone can confirm this, or correct me!).
  21. Danny Phillips becomes a Diamonds asset..... But it is in a unique way... http://www.newcastlediamonds.co/news/article.asp?id=100834
  22. Ashley Morris won't be asked to be a heat leader. He will start at reserve and maybe go into the main-body of the team as a second string. Something he was successful at last season in the difficult number 2 spot.
  23. No different than going MotoX'ing before the start of the season (like many speedway riders do), except you wouldn't think an injury could occur sledging. It's just a freak accident.
