Grand Prix Calendar and Venues 2019
Ghostwalker replied to james1234's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
SWC at Gorzow is a million times better than a glorified pairs event at any track. And SWC at any decent track is a much better event than a glorified pairs event at any track -
Iversen won so Smederna now have two riders that won their respectively national individual titles on the same night.
-
Freddie Fred Perry Lindgren took his first Swedish individual title. He was fasted from the tapes and pulled away from the rest. Ljung initially second but made a mistake, dropped to last but then managed to pass Kim Nilsson for third. Oliver Berntzon was second. Heat 19, 20and the semi final was pretty good racing but overall racing wasn't anything special.

According to some information I just heard SON will be at Manchester and SWC with be at Gorzow. I stillthink that SON should be scrapped and that Best pairs should be WCH pairs. -
I have to take back what I said. I assumed that DK had the same as us where the position in the final as the decisive factor. DMU twitter says Jacobsen 3rd. DMU U21 DM FINALEN OUTRUP 1 Andreas Lyager 2 @JonasJeppesen3 3 @JakobsenRacing

Seifert was 3rd. Jacobsen either had a TT or engine failure in the final.

It's the complete opposite. A good gater will benefit from stricter rules since he will do a good start anyway. Roll-starters will not benefit from stricter rules because the will be called back if they roll. I don't understand why some don't understand how standing starts work compared to rolling starts. Name any sport that currently uses a standing start that allows chance starts? Not F1, not MotoGp, not WRC, not WRX, not swimming, no athletics. The start is about reaction on a start signal not about chancing. I agree that inconsistency is a problem but like H.A. says above it can be solved by transponders. I personally would use them together with the tapes not instead of.

I have once seen all 4 riders getting excluded for the 2 min violation (and yes I have mentioned it before). Unfortunately some fans starts complaining that the referee should be more lenient and that "we want to see four riders in each heat", even if the rider is far away from the tapes (for whatever reason). Imo it's the opposite. A referee cannot be lenient or start bending rules because then the riders will stop respect the rules. I think the all 4 back is similar. Once you are lenient the riders will use it to get a restart when they don't get a good start.

The Swedish referees are pretty strict too.
