Save Weymouth Speedway Campaign
stressed replied to Save Weymouth Speedway's topic in National League Speedway
Brilliant turnout today with 177 people signing a petition! The mood was very good, there will be a story in next weeks Speedway Star and in The Dorset Echo www.dorsetecho.co.uk/sport/speedway/ and also a story on the Wildcats website www.weymouthwildcats.co.uk late tonight. On behalf of Harold and the consortium I would like to say a very grateful thank you to all who were able to turn up and show their support as well as the lads from Southern Classic Speedway Bikes www.classicspeedway.co.uk with a few machines on display, thank you all. -
James was excellent value for Weymouth, you have a lad who is reliable and who will do a good job. Good luck to James in the NL this year
-
NL declarations as of 01/10/2010 were Jay Herne 10.16 and Todd Kurtz 9.01

This really shows the BSPA up for what they really are, I've been quiet over the winter with comments about their actions but this really take the p*** out of everyone connected with Mildenhall, supporters, riders landlord, prospective promotions etc, etc

Weymouth Track Review Speedway Star

wessexboy can you post the article? -
Personally I really hope they all walk out . . . . . . with all the rules set in place and peace and harmony

There was a meeting due for the directors of the Landlords company, after that meeting a phone call to one of the prospective parties was due to happen. They will release news as and when applicable but don't expect much if anything this side of the NL meeting in January as obviously the BSPA have to approve any new prospective promotions and with Xmas in the middle of things I suspect not much will happen.
-
Just to add the winter training schools are 12.00-4.00pm on Saturdays that the football club are playing away.
-
So it seems that the BSPA want to take their money rather than pay the riders out of a bond they hold for these such circumstances Bloody disgusting treatment! Their fines should be last on the agenda after the riders have been settled up otherwise what is the point of the bond in the first place?
-
I spoke with the landlord today and arranged to collect my own property on Saturday, they were very helpful, no idea who else has property at the track though, hope they all realise they need to arrange an appointment to reclaim their property. Somehow I don't think there will be much for the landlords to sell off to try and re-coupe any funds so the only hope would be a new promotion coming in and arranging a new rental agreement.
-
Those training sessions in 03 and 04 were good fun and produced a few good riders who are at different levels of league racing now, so it just shows what can be done. Just have to hope someone comes in with the right financial backing to make Weymouth Speedway work once again, it will be a hard job but I'm sure there is someone out there with the right ideas who could see them through
-
They have reverted back to the BSPA now so I was told yesterday, Terry Day, Luke Wiltshire and Richard Andrews.

Quoted as dictated mate. I guess that the lease for the stadium was a huge weight to carry and it would be a relief to have that lifted I guess. Hopefully someone can now come in and take things over without starting out in debt Personal belongings are not assets of a business, only assets of the business can be withheld in lieu of payment.

Congratulations Jayne and all at Buxton, well deserved this year, the trophies have gone to the right place

No flack or abuse Jules, simply that if supporters want speedway to continue then they need to show any prospective purchaser that there are supporters out there willing to attend, by staying away it damages these prospects. I know some people who won't attend or are unable to attend while Phil is promoter but there are a great many more who could easily attend for the final meeting to show that Weymouth Speedway could be a viable proposition in 2011. If you have viewed the Echo website there are a number of people who twist and slag off anything to do with Weymouth Speedway, these posts have generally been removed by the Echo and again this is something that does the club no favors. If people have a gripe with the promoter they should take it up with the promoter instead of trying to be faceless and hard hiding behind a keyboard damaging the club in the media. Crowds are generally down around the sport, you try and get a bit of publicity and it makes you wonder why you bother with all the hassle that gets put in your way at times, it's a thankless task. After working for both Brian and Phil as promoters over the years both have their good points and bad points, if you accept all these you can get along and do a job for the club which is what I and many others have been doing this year and for many years to try and keep speedway 'alive' in Weymouth. We don't do it for the good of our pocket, in fact it costs some of us a great deal of time and money to do the various jobs that we do because we love the sport and the 'club' no matter who the promoter is. Whoever comes in, if anyone does has a big hill to climb, that is a fact as every move they make will be scrutinised on the forums in great depth, again it will be another thankless task and I wish whoever it is as much luck and success as possible and also hope that the supporters come back and support the 'club'. Thanks for the offer of the pint but I don't drink and I hate pies
-
with the apathy on here maybe it will make a great deal of people happy that there will be no more speedway at Weymouth after tomorrow night
-
Obviously someone who has an issue with Weymouth Speedway
-
if you would like to buy the club for £1 then the details are there too Full details on the Wildcats website Mod Note: Sections are there for a reason and if Parsloes doesn't get away with duplicate topics it would be rather hypocritical to let you away with it, especially when you try a backhanded sly way of getting round the rules and brag about it in your post.

I made an announcement last night to apologise for the dust which was due to the track being relaid this week. It was decided not to water it much as it would just rut up with the old ruts etc coming back through. This afternoon I spoke with one of the people responsible for working on the track this week and he explained that after this week they will be able to water to a higher degree without the risk of damaging the track. Addressing the lack of support through the turnstiles, it dosen't help when ill informed people decide to continually post negative comments on live updates and Facebook as well as this forum to a lesser extent. If they were real Speedway supporters then they would keep it zipped to that the support base isn't damaged any further which could possibly put off the prospective new purchaser(s). Hope that helps. There are a number of training sessions already arranged with the first four dates on the Wildcats website, these will run until a new buyer takes over the club and hopefully whoever the new buyer is will allow and support the rest of the dates that we have penciled until April 2011.
