Academy League Final
stressed replied to Wildcat Steve's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
This meeting should of been run on a proper track and not at an event that is basically a good fun day out. Afterall you wouldn't see any of the Elite, Premier or Conference Finals being held at Brighton would you? There is not much room for error at Brighton so I just hope all the lads come through this in one piece. It's good experience on the other hand for the youngsters but no place to hold a final that they have all worked hard to get to, this meeting should of been done and dusted weeks and weeks ago on tracks that they are going to be riding full time in a couple of years or so not one off indoor venues. -
No rest for you now then Vince What no tape over his mouth Don't come back too soon Sam, many have and regretted it later in life, let everything heal first, your young time is on your side, not so sure about the old man though

Just had a text to say they are operating on Sam tonight Sad way to end the season but look forward to seeing you back on track next season. Fingers crossed the operation goes well. All the best Sam for a speedy recovery

Just had a look on the BSPA site and read the following under 'Basic League Rules': Riders are identified by Helmet Colours: Home Riders: Red and Blue, Visiting Riders: Green, Yellow and Black. and this under 'What Is Speedway': Below the individual scorecharts is the racecard which covers all the heats from 1 to 15. The top two riders listed in each heat are the 'home' riders, followed by the two 'away' riders. To the left of the riders name is their rider number and further across the page under the colour column is the colour of the helmet he'll wear (R-Red, B-Blue, G-Green and Y-Yellow & Black quarters). Kinda sums it all up really

Youth Speedway Racing
stressed replied to morganbike's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
There will never be agreement over the 80cc / 125cc / 500cc bikes etc so why not run both and give the kids and parents a choice of starting on 80cc or 125cc then progressing, age should not come into it. Each rider should be able to show a very high standard of handling from the first stage choice before they can move up to the next size machine and so on. Currently I believe a junior has to have two signatures from training instructors to enable them to move onto more powerful bikes and to fair this is the best way so as not to hold back one youngster just because he is not of the age to ride a more powerful machine, they need encouragement not knocking back at this young stage. More tracks should be opening up during the off season to allow youngsters track time and slash the costs as some of these riders will be bringing in the bacon in years to come. Speculate to accumulate! The parents give up a great deal for their youngsters to be able to partake in this dangerous sport for very little reward for many years unless they are able to gain some sponsorship. Understanding that these riders will fall off here and there, breakdown once in a while, it's all part of that big learning curve, just like the apprenticeships once were. The Under 15's, Academy League and 2nd halfs are these young riders modern day apprenticeships so lets get behind them and not suffocate them, they can only learn from experience, wrapping them up in cotton wool will only see Team GB on the bottom footings for many, many years to come. If supporters and promoters want a successful Team GB and a World Champion of the future everyone has to get behind them to help them succeed. -

Any Knee Pads Found After The Meeting ?
stressed replied to MONKEYBOY's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
No don't reply, let the wet lettuce get some action -
I think you will find it was a trainee ref at Newport for the Under 15's and was probably nervous as hell with another ref looking at her every move no doubt. I do agree they should all be singing from the same rule book.

Special thanks to The Anglo Polish Agency for all the help this week and especially today with the help of the van and parts etc for George Piper. The Poles did the business where it mattered on track, they were by far the best on the day and full deserve their win tonight, well done to one and all. Very disappointed with Team GB, although in saying that, they did what I expected. I had hoped for a win, maybe I was clutching at straws but there you go that's the Brit in me. Stead and Harris will of learned so much from this weeks experience and will now know what they have to do to be up there with the best and at the races (the front). It will come but not for a couple of years. Nicholls was unlucky tonight, Richardson did a good job, in fact much better than I thought he would do and finally Screeny looks like he will be leaving the International stage after serving his country so well over the years. The lads gave it their best shot, but unfortunately they need to step up another gear to be considered challengers to win a title or three over the coming years. Lets hope they can do it sooner rather than later, good luck to all of them and thanks for giving it a real go, much appreciated. Just wish the commentary would stop putting every excuse possible as to why Team GB riders can't or didn't do what the commentators expected, gets a bit annoying and is a big yawn after the first 50 times in ten minutes, it's simple really we were just not good enough end of, but our day will come for Middlo and the boys now he has to plan for the future years in earnest like the Danes and Poles have over the last few years.
