  12. WILDCATS DICE WITH THE DEVILS By Weymouth Speedway ~ Thursday 22nd July 2010 Weymouth Weyline Wildcats change their race night to Saturday [24th July] against the Plymouth Devils this week in National league action. Phil Bartlett Wildcats chairman will unveil a new signing Saturday evening who steps into the team replacing Terry Day. The new signing is a temporary measure to allow Day the time he needs to fully recover his fitness before he embarks on a track return for the Wildcats. Day who suffered a horrific crash at the Wessex Stadium in May was scoring well above his average; this had put his team mates under increasing pressure covering for his rides whilst the team has been struggling for form. With National league and Premier league experience the new signing who has raced at the Wessex Stadium previously is sure to be a hit with supporters at the Radipole Lane circuit when all is revealed. 17. Rabbit, you have hit the nail on the head 'column inches in the media' and the lack of for Speedway compared to sports such as F1 and Football that's why these two sports get big crowds and Speedway tracks across the country get by with a few hundred if they are lucky. It's all about how it's put about in the media, getting interest in the first place is one thing but maintaining it is another.
  18. Very true Speedway will 'never' compete with F1 because F1 knows how to make the media work for F1 and has been doing it for years, but neither will compete with that sport of kicking a bag of air about Speedway will win hands down for a lover of Speedway, F1 would win hands down for a lover of F1 yet the papers will not be full of either, 90% will be filled by that crap game that the media thinks everyone in the country loves 'football'! If you don't like or follow football in this country you are up the creak without a paddle, no bloody choice with total disruption and more sad waffle on paper only fit to wrap fish and chips, if only! At least with Speedway and F1 they are on for 3 or 4 hours and the commentators have a real passion for their sport
  19. Ok George you are obviously a great fan of Sci-Fi So in my post I state that Buzz wasn't going to be riding because he was on a previously book holiday . . . Fact. Unfortunately the reporter got it wrong, that's life, they do get things wrong because of the pressure of time which is never on their side having to cram so much in during their working day. Newspapers do hype up stories, again another fact, just look at how the so call national football team were hyped up to the whole country by the majority of newspapers who were doing their bit to cash in on a sporting event which would help sell a few more copies. As I said it's their job to hype and spruce any story up to get the best out of it for their situation. . . . selling newspapers. Why would the local newspaper reporter be unhappy? Shows how much you know as I was having a chat and laugh with him tonight in the referee's box Oh yes I forgot to add I also have a good working relationship with the local newspaper as well as I have since 2003 with the various journalists and editors who have been and gone. The current lads are a great bunch but like I have said they are there to do a job of selling newspapers without which they won't have a job hence the reason why certain parts of stories are highlighted with poetic licence and pushed to get maximum effect in their column inches.
  20. That's the Dorset Echo not a club statement or press release and you have to take the newspapers as you find them, not always 100% accurate, look at today's piece it says Buzz could be riding tonight after his club has already issued a press release saying he is on holiday! I prefer the facts personally but hey they have a job to do to sell newspapers and to spruce it up a little with poetic licence it's their job
  21. No one has been quoted by the club, check the press releases
  22. Looks like our friend rider replacement with a place staying open for Terry
  23. Yes and doing very well. I saw him at Weymouth last Friday where he scored 3-1-3-3-3-2* = 15+1. He looks right back on it. all power to him after nasty injury and all the time out he has had to deal with, hope that helps
