Checked last night and again this morning - the 'result' has yet to appear on the SGB website - read into that what you will.

1. I don't agree with your analogy 2. I take it you will not be there on Friday

I not overly impressed with going R/R for Alfie!
-
I thought we dropped down to National League to avoid scenarios like this.

Speedway World Cup 2017
TonyE replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting - speedway out of the top drawer as Kelvin would say.. All credit to the Latvians, they made the most of their chances but I still feel the 'Joker' has no place in a serious competition. Looking forward to Friday - should be quite a battle (USA excluded). -
Alfie has become a firm favourite for the Hammers this year. He is an out and out racer and I am sure he will do well for you.
-
Looks like Alfie Bowtell has signed for Newcastle (to replace Dan Greenwood at reserve).

There were indeed some problems with traffic in the area. The Lakeside Shopping Centre had, for some reason, closed off about 50% of its parking areas as I found out to my cost. Cars were queueing to even enter car parks and there was an element of traffic 'backing up' in the surrounding area.. I cannot speak for the approach from the Kent side however, as I did not travel from that direction.

Fully agree - a couple of very costly falls.

Agree - looking forward to some entertaining racing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLlRhAX4MQY Video of the meeting - not the best angle for the last bend passes though.
-
Agree, it was a good meeting to watch although somewhat drawn out. I am still trying to figure out why Alfie was excluded/disqualified in his first ride where he showed all the qualities of an out and out racer. There was absolutely no contact and Stoneman seemed to fall off from the shock of being passed!

Had to do something given Eastbourne are now fielding a team with a 50+ points average!
-
Jon did not really explain the reason he called some promoters idiots, it is we that assume he was referring to the 'objectors' to Paul's average but he may well have been including other factors. Whatever methodology is applied in determining an average it is a rare event that it turns out to be accurate. Had Paul's comeback resulted in scores of 4 or 5 do you think the assessed average would have been lowered?

I think I am having a 'senior moment' here - I'll go and lie down!
-
It would appear that some of my posts have been removed! NIce of the person responsible to tell me (not) and give reasons.
-
Jon Cook did not say all NL promoters were idiots - only that some were!
-
Not quite. Hurry had an average 'allocated' prior to the season start but this has now been 'reviewed' following complaints, presumably from the 'idiots'.
-
I was there and I have also watched the one dimensional clip. I am not trying to 'defend it' as you say, merely offering my opinion based on actually being there. In this league, given the massive disparity between heat leaders and the rest (particularly re Lakeside given the strength of the top three) some processional racing is inevitable. You have your opinion (based on video) and exercise your choice not attend - fine by me. As for 'idiot' you demean yourself by using the word.
-
'Idiots'.

For a hot sunny afternoon, the track was well prepared and received due care and attention during the meeting. It is simply not true to say everything took place around the inside line indeed, far from it. Internet warriors should leave objective opinions to those who were actually there!
-
That is putting it mildly! He was none too complimentary regarding some NL bosses.
-
I cannot see the scenario of it being announced on speedway GB website if it had not already been approved.

I very much suspect Paul will be on an assessed average given his time out of the sport. Whether or not the previous injuries he is carrying come into the equation is anybody's guess.
