  1. Probably waiting until we 'officially' declare for NL.
  2. If Lakeside are not successful in getting a new home, then I fear the worst.
  3. Well, at least one club needs to move up to maintain the minimum 8 required for the Sky deal. If two more do, then a couple of thoughts occur: - where are all the heat leaders/true No.1's coming from? - the PL will be in need of some new recruits - potential for Lakeside at least.
  4. Just where does all this leave what is left of the 'Elite League'?
  5. The fall in the value of the pound isn't all due to Brexit - a substantial correction was coming Brexit or not! I don't buy into the 'people didn't really know what they were voting for' scenario - in my opinion and shared by many I have spoken to, the direction in which the EU was heading wasn't to their liking.
  6. You may be misrepresenting them - perhaps what they do know is that they will never achieve power on that platform.
  7. Compared to what? Before WW2? The world was a very different place after the war - UK manufacturing had, naturally, been bombed by the Luftwaffe and many industries had switched their focus to the war effort. Whilst the re-adjustment/rebuilding took place after the end of the war, others stepped in to fill the shortfall. Price and quality will always be the key factors in my opinion - loyalty takes a back seat nowadays.
  8. He was Lakeside's No. 9 (never used) - suffered a severe injury mid/late season and, I believe, may well have retired.
  9. The speech I was referring to was the 'opening of Parliament' one - I think you are letting your hatred get the better of you - paradise, or otherwise, is not the Queen's responsibility. She is on all our coinage and banknotes, it must hurt when you transact in cash!
  10. Oh really! The monarchy in UK is a constitutional one - the monarch doesn't send anyone to war, is not responsible for poverty. It is governments that do all that - do you ever listen to the Queen's speech - 'my government will introduce a bill' and so on. . The Queen cannot refuse to give 'consent' to an Act of Parliament she does not, personally, agree with. The buck, as they say in the States, rests with the government of the day.
  11. I, and many others, were not naive enough to believe there would not be some financial pain in the short/medium term but, on balance, thought the advantages outweighed the monetary cost. The EU is struggling to keep itself together and may well implode - the Euro cannot last given the current mix of countries that are tied to it and how inflexible it is for them.
  12. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0WeURiShfU This is a 'must watch' and was made in 2004, although it obviously has an agenda, a chill will go down your spine if you have the time to watch it all the way through. A lot of foresight was shown by so many appearing in it given that 12 years have since passed. I could say so much more but you really need to watch it in full to appreciate what we are in the process of extricating ourselves from. If anyone thinks parts of it are factually inaccurate then I would like to know in what way. Please watch, the British people have made the right decision.
  13. What I would like is: - after reading the post meeting press release - I am able to say 'that makes sense'
  14. Agreed - it clearly doesn't work for some of the countries using it as they have no flexibility in terms interest/exchange rate manipulation to correct imbalances in their own economies.
  15. Cameron's mantra was that Britain was better off in a reformed EU - what the latter showed him was that it was incapable of reform (even on a small scale). Any organisation that believes a single currency will actually work across 18 diverse economies just about sums up their intellectual grasp on reality!
  16. I would be embarrassed to make that comment. As you well know, a majority relates to those voting and anyone who cared about the outcome should have expressed their views via the ballot box.
  17. Just a note to those who quoted my post - I have NOT expressed a personal opinion. The decision is Charlie's to make. I do wonder what the outcome of the re-trial would have been had it taken place in Scotland where a 'not proven' verdict is available. Being found 'not guilty' is frequently expressed as 'innocent' when there are often grey areas involving 'reasonable doubt'.
  18. Certainly a few loonies came out of the woodwork with their racist abuse but I don't ascribe to it being 'massive' - what is equally frightening to me is the attempt to overturn the will of the majority!
  19. The price of true democracy is that people of all levels of intelligence/understanding get one vote each.. The tactics of each side in the run up did probably influence a few who did not bother to broaden their understanding of the issues by doing a 'little research'. What is evident to me is that the constant carping from the 'losers' and their glorifying each bit of 'bad' news is actually making the situation worse painting, as it does, a massively divided nation. As others have said, now is the time to accept the will of the majority and work hard to make a success of it. I still believe the EU will implode if it does not reform. In respect of the latter, there are presently no indicators that it will reform.
  20. Cannot see why she should. Irrespective of the verdict, there are still aspects of his behaviour that night which many would find disgusting.
  21. I see all the 'doom and gloom' merchants are out in force and we have yet to know what the final outcome will be. Just as an aside, the Pound almost fell to parity against US dollar some years ago and fuel has also been as high as £1.40 per litre. Even with a moderate increase, white goods will, in real terms, be much cheaper than in years past.. Maybe it is time to shop more at Aldi and Lidl.
