Lakeside V Belle Vue 29th September Play-off Semi 1st Leg
TonyE replied to Dave Stummings's topic in National League Speedway
Is he Kelvin's 'asset' then? A talent like Jason will find an opportunity to develop further but it will depend on the structure of speedway in UK next year. Back to last night's meeting - it was a pleasure to watch him achieve in such style and with confidence for one so young. A complete contrast to Laurence and Couzins who generally give the impression that they are 'uncomfortable' in the saddle. -

The latest 'update' on Hammers' website still lists Laurence at No. 2 (sadly). -

According to Hammers' website he has already turned 15 and HE RIDES on Friday - no Connor Locke. Max Clegg guests for Zach. -

I would call it realistic - the most any team has scored at NSS is 37 and that was Kent. Winning at home is all we can hope for. It would be good to give Jason Edwards a chance (at Arena at least). -

Whoever is selected, the Hammers will not progress beyond this round. -
In my view Speedway is not best suited to a promotion/relegation scenario. The cost of participating varies widely across the three levels and each promotion has to decide which financial scenario best suits their pockets. Not much point in being promoted and going bust as a result!

Who will guest for Zach? Plymouth are riding the same night, so Boxall is out - can it be Luke Bowen (from another team in the play-offs)? -
Lakeside should just fold and all you moaners can then retire happy.

Predictably, R/R scored zero. -

A bit of honesty upfront wouldn't go amiss. R/R should have been declared at the outset in both cases. R/R for Alfie is a disaster waiting to happen for the Hammers - surely a guest could have been found. -

What is going on? The Lakeside Website in the meeting preview lists Bowtell as in the team. -
Have Your Say On How British Speedway Is Run
TonyE replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Badly - there I've had my say! -
I'm not sure I agree with that. How 'public' was the incident? How many spectators witnessed it? Such actions bring speedway into disrepute and assaulting an official usually brings a significant penalty across a range of different sports. For instance, a footballer who strikes an opponent receives a 'violent conduct ban' of several matches but one who strikes an official is looking at very serious downtime. What Cook did should not be 'swept under the carpet' notwithstanding any apology given.

I believe Jon Cook was driving the tractor!

Spoke to some guys who were there last night - absolutely dire, a gater's paradise. At least Arena produces alternate racing lines.
-
Seeing as Zach has the equal highest average in the league - anyone. Obviously, someone who is: - available - goes well at Arena Steve Boxall may well be a serious option.

Certainly seems to be the case. The absentees, for what ever reason, are contributing to the possible demise of the club. Agree, communication needs improving - is NL temporary whilst British Speedway attempts to sort out its many issues - has there been any progress in finding a new home? I have been to every meeting that I could and on the whole have enjoyed the experience - yes, speedway at this level is different given the wide range of ability within teams but I would put the level of 'exciting heats/good races' at a par with higher levels. I know not everyone will share my opinion and that is to be expected.

Having looked at the BBC weather time map I think there is a good chance of tonight's meeting being on provided the initial showers are not too heavy.

Very much looking forward to this one.

Five guests - not exactly a good advert for NL speedway. -
After the debacle at Kings Lynn tonight it seems Jon Cook's decision to distance the club from 'top level' speedway as it exists in this country at present, may have been a good move!
