  1. Well I know everyone is saying that Crumpy is the best rider in the world and you are all saying the averages prove it. I understand where you are coming from but just coz hes' top of the averages in the elite league, does NOT make him the BEST rider in the world. The best rider in the world is crowned World Champion and we have yet to see whether it will be him.....or Nicki. Fair enough Nicki isnt top of the averages but at the end of the day its a fair fight between the 2 of them and at the end of the night in Hamar, we'll see who comes out on top. I am not disputing that Crumpy isn't a great rider coz he is and he definitely deserves to be a World Champion - I just think its a bit strong to say he's obviously the best out there. To be perfectly honest, the best rider currently racing in speedway has got to be TRick. He has 5 championships to prove it and he is he man everyone looks up to and aims to be like. I just hope that if Nicki does become World Champ and I really hope he does, that he receives the credit he deserves. He's still young and has rode very consistently, nobody should take it away from him. I just hope we see a good clean, exciting fight between the 2 of them in Norway and may the best man win! ;-)
  2. TTP: We are definitely starting a campaign for Nicki, he is the man and will be champion!! Are you going to Norway? I am trying to persuade people in my family to go but they don't want to, I really want to be there to cheer him on! By the way, are you or anyone else having trouble posting on Nicki's site? I have tried on several occasions on different computers and it won't work!
  3. Like your spirit TTP, keep the Nicki votes coming! I say all us Nicki fans should leave him messages on his site so that he knows he has plenty of support!
  4. Well I am definitely going for Nicki! I think Nicki has rode consistently well and I think he's been riding fairly as you will have seen with his races with TRick in the GP lately. I think Crumpy wants it more and maybe he wont suffer from nerves as he's the more experienced of the two but I will be supporting Nicki all the way!
  5. A bit more info on Norway.... From the RyanAir site, you can only fly to Oslo (Torp) TRP?? Now where is this airport located in comparison to Hamar? Is this around 3 hours distance away? When I was looking at the booking details I was entering 2 adults to travel on Oct 4th and fly back next day and the cheapest I could get in total was around £270. If anyone can give us more advice, it would be appreciated
  6. Yes enjoyed tonights GP, lots of exciting racing and fair racing - one of the best we've seen all year. I knew Tomasz would go well but I just wasn't sure if he would win tonight and he certainly proved me wrong...damn I knew I should have bet on him Great performance by Pepe too, he was another that surprised me but a big well done to him, he has really come on well this year and deserved it. Glad to see Lee Rico make semis, shame he couldn't get into that final but hes improving each time. Thought Scotty was going to be heading for glory too but I think next year will be when he really shines. Nice to see Loramski back to form after all the terrible luck hes had with injuries. This Championship just gets more and more tense...I guess its really down to Crumpy or Nicki, unless something dramatic happens next time out. Just hope I'm there in Hamar to see all the excitement!
  7. Thats exactly what I'm trying to find out too SullyRox, I've never made it abroad yet and I don't want to book something and find out its miles away! I know Ryan Air do cheap flights to Norway but they are not near the speedway so you would be looking at possibly 1-3 hours bus/train journey to speedway. In the first topic regarding the Norway GP, we were informed that BA do flights direct to Oslo near the speedway but are much more expensive. I must say I'm confused though over which airline I should be using and which airport I really should be heading to! It would also be helpful to know where to be looking for hotels! Please somebody help! I really want to see the Championship decider
  8. Yes well done Bomber shame he couldn't claim the victory but great effort to take 2nd. Good to see Matej Zagar & Iversen up there, I was hoping more for a podum spot though but still pleased! So that is David Howe's chances over now for ever being WU21 Champ, injuries seem to plague his career recently always at the wrong time. What happened to Ryan Fisher? Expected a better performance than that?
  9. Hi Shalewale, Thanks for your reply. Yes I would be very grateful if you could let me know of the times of the trains etc, I was thinking of getting a flight in which would get in around 10am so I think that would give me just enough time to get to speedway! Thanks for your help
  10. Hello everyone, Is anybody on here making the trip to the finale in Norway? I never made it to Prague :-( so I am hoping to go to the Championsip decider instead! If anybody has been to Norway last year or is going this year, could you please give some advice on the best airlines/ places to stay etc. I have looked at RyanAir and seen reasonably good prices but you fly to Oslo Torp airport? Anybody on here know if that is the right airport to be heading to?! Thank you!
  11. Now now 21stCentury Heathen...you know Arsenal are going to win the Premiership, Have to say I don't bet on the footie that much as I never have much luck. I personally check the William Hill betting site but I actually place my bets at the local bookies which happen to be Coral. His odds are usually slightly different to WillHill but not enough to make a major difference. We have made more money this year than we have put on. Although last GP I did bet on Pedersen, Sullivan, Hancock and Nicholls so gutted to lose my money :-( Seems we all had faith in Scotty in Prague, fingers crossed for next time!
  12. Yeh my partner put a £20 bet on Crumpy at 5/2 and he won £70 (including his stake back). My bets ever odds were on Sullivan at 16/1 in the Swedish GP just gone and he won me and my partner £340! I don't know what I can start betting on when the GP series has finished ;-)
  13. With regards to tonight's GP, good racing and nice to see them on a proper racetrack for a change. Very impressed with Tomas Topinka's performance, he really put 2 fingers up to the people who didn't think he warranted a place as a wildcard, he showed them what a capable rider he is and really mixed it with the big boys, I am sure he will get a great reception at Lynn next week Also impressed with Holta, good performace to reach the final and once again Hans Andersen makes the top 8. Although he seemed to put in a much better performance tonight than he did at Coventry this week. Glad to see Hans ans AJ get up after the big accident, thank god for the air fences, it looked very nasty. I am not a Crumpy fan but he did deserve his victory and just can't believe how this Championship fight is hotting up with 2 points seperating the top 3, you couldn't make it any better. I have to say I don't think Nicki Pedersen did anything wrong in Ht 14, I was watching tonight with someone who really doesn't have a high opinion of Nicki and even he couldn't see what Nicki did wrong. I am surprised nobody has tried to blame him for the incident with Hans & AJ. He had a great race with TRick, really exciting, hard racing - if he's as bad as people make out, that would have been a prime oppourtunity for him to have put TRick in the fence but he rode fair. The preview before the GP where Sky made that comment about him putting his own grandmother in the fence, was meant be taken lightheartedly, I don't think Sky were trying to offend. Anyway just my opinion, I don't want to get involved with the war over is Nicki dangerous or not on this forum, we will all have different views so lets respect that!!
  14. Well done Sully! Really enjoyed tonight's GP, great to see a good comeback from Sully and to see him back to top form. Good for the championship too with TRick eliminated early on and now we have Adams & Pedersen level, what an exciting Championship decider we have in the last few GP's. I wouldn't agree with Steve Shovlar's comments about the fans not responding to Sully's win, I'm sure they would have preferred a Swede but I doubt he is the most unpopular rider! I am not sure if that is sour grapes on your behalf because of him beating Poole's Adams?? So what was up with TRick? I know he was suffering with delayed concussion but he has rattled up good scores in Sweden, was it machinery, track caught him out or is just feeling the pressure of the championship decider? Shame Pedersen couldn't take more of an advantage over Trick, he looked as though he was suffering very badly with his knee, hope we see more of the real Nicki next GP. And also got to say I am smiling because me and my partner happened to get odds on Sully for 16/1 and are going to celebrate big time tomorrow when we collect our winnings!
  15. I do think Star Lady and Trees have raised some very good points and I do agree with many of their views. However, I don't think we should be deprived of watching the GP live. I know Sky are not at fault and its all Ole Olsen and co's fault, I also appreciate that they have other live events which they have already agreed to show which have been advertised, but why should we suffer?? I dont know about many of you, but if they decide to show the GP on Sunday morn, I will prob have already checked for the results on the net! I have money on as I usually do and I really enjoy the GP's so it will be really hard to keep the result away from me! I know we can avoid the net, teletext and ask our friends etc not to inform us, but I know I will want to know whose won, I can't wait till almost 12 hours after. A large majority of fans will prob already know the result before they sit down to watch it and for me it will spoil all the excitement as I will know who will make the final and who will be eliminated etc. There are prob people reading this, saying well if you don't want to know the result then just don't try and find out anywhere! I know thats right but I'm just saying we shouldn't have to wait all that time, its so annoying :x
  16. thanks raymondbudd I will go to the bookies later in the week and double check the situation. I think I will wait until the last minute before I place my bets again with all these injury doubts popping up all over the place! I will let you and everyone know if the betting situation turns out to cause a few probs..!
  17. Good idea sending the letter to the speedway star, I can see several pages of letters with regards to tonights farce, at least it will make all the FIM aware of all the possible consequences. Just hope that everyone who has placed bets on tonights meeting, can have the money back or transferred, its a ridiculous situation to be in!!
  18. yes tom, very interesting points made there. i hope someone from the FIM might read this or realise what might occur because if the example you used actually happens, I would like to see how they would deal with it. I bet they are already planning some phony excuse to prevent this situation taking place. Just changing the topic slightly for a second, I have bet on tonights match, is there any chance at all of me getting my money back or transferring the bet over to next week? Please someone give me a little bit of hope...!!
  19. Definitely agree Robbo, the attendance figure will be well under half of tonight's crowd. I guess a lot of them will be unable to due to travel arrangements and also a lot of people will be rightly annoyed so I don't think they will bother to go to the effort next time! I know you are trying to look on the bright sides of things mark cox and its good someone is being positive. Maybe you are right and this will give John and Ole a good kick up the you know where and they will make sure nothing like this happens again. Lets hope the track conditions are always much better prepared and that they will learn from their mistakes.....here's hoping anyway
  20. I see from the comments in the press release they are trying to put the blame elsewhere. I honestly feel that Olsen should resign for the good of the sport but I guess if he did that then he and the BSI team would be admitting guilt for tonight's cock up.
  21. Like everyone else on here, I am really annoyed about tonights events. I can't believe Ole Olsen and co have let such a stupid mistake happen. They make such a big deal in negotiating new contracts with new impressive stadiums and gain impressive crowds and stuff all the hard work by completely messing the track up. Have to say I can't believe nobody would have noticed the terrible state of the track before the 1st race though?? My feelings are: There should be a practice before the meeting on race day. They should have a 20 minute practice in the afternoon before a GP, it shouldn't be compulsory but at least if there is a major problem it should be picked up in time. Surely somebody should have realised the track may not be in perfect condition if nobody had ridden previously!! Ole Olsen should be sacked. He has made a mockery of the sport tonight, just when the sport is beginning to head in the right direction and then this happens. It does make a laughing stock of the sport. We can all understand bad weather calling meetings off but look at the bright sunshine there and to people tuning in, they would have thought why on earth could the track not be prepared properly. I just feel so sorry for all the fans who have travelled there and paid for flights and booked time off work. Fair enough they may issue a refund for the price of the ticket but there will be plenty more costs which will go unpaid. I can't imagine at next's weeks GP, they will even get half of tonight's attendance figure. And now reading the recent message that there is an individual meeting staged with at least 2 of the GP riders down to be racing, as well as all the league matches, where does this leave the riders, promoters and fans!!! Its all a mess, and I think BSI need to issue a full explanation.
  22. Yeh big congrats to all who qualified, pleased for Pepe, he's had his best year so far in the GP's and deserved it. Bo was a surprise for me but then again he often shines in meetings like these and had good form in the WTC. Expected Bjarne to qualify and good to see Kaj make it, he will have a good go next year. So we will have 2 Dryml brothers in the GP next season, should be interesting! So I guess we'll see some brotherly team riding next year! I'm not too sure of how Jensen will do next year, hope he does well and a good performance this afternoon but we will have to wait and see. Bet Steady is gutted to have missed the chance of a run-off, bless him, lets hope he has better luck in 2003! Hoped for a bit more from Tom Topinka, would have been good to see him qualify. Anyone have any have more info on Seb? Poole site said he didn't take last ride due to injury he got earlier on, hope he has a quick recovery, I think he would have really done well in the Gp's.
  23. The latest on Lukas Dryml is that he has sustained a broken ankle, this taken from Pool site. Get well soon Lukas
  24. Yeh keeping a very close eye on the poole site! wish i was there, sounds like an exciting match, shame about the injuries. I have to say I wouldn't have put Bo Brehl down to be doing so well but I guess I shouldn't have underestimated him!! Even though its in sad circumstances, I'm pleased both reserves have got their chance to come in, c'mon Zagar and Kylmakorpi!!
  25. Already only half way into the meeting and 2 riders who were really capable of taking victory taken to hospital. Not the news anyone wanted to hear, especially poor Lukas Dryml who has only just recoved from the nasty crash at the last GP. Lets hope the injuries to both riders involved are not as bad as we are hearing. Still can't believe Sky have not chosen to televise this meeting! Least Poole Speedway are doing regular updates for us unfortunate people not to be there!
