Bjerre has just won his last heat so is PUK out and with Bjarne Pedersen has squeaky bum time for the a Wild Card slot. With sullivan out , Holder could be up for a place as could the young Russian .........
-
Think that guarantees Walasek a place as well If so Holta definately needs a top 8 finish .
-
Ulamek is in !!!!!! So Holta will need a top 8 finish in the SGP to get in next year !!!!!
-
Sullivan makes it three out of three !!!!! Best lock up the start girls
-
Back up and running cheers fellas ..... Nothing against Sullivan rather see Holder in the SGP series. Would like Iversen to get through, can see him improving in SGPs with a decent run without injuries.
-
Think my link has gone ** up !!!!! Cant get a picture ...no commentary nowt

Racing is pretty processional ..... Richardson 1,1 so thats his chances gone for SGP slot.

Bydgoszcz Grand Prix
Hackett replied to pedropete's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
It was the Polish SGP in Bydgoszcz - Majority of the crowd was Polish so what is wrong with speaking to them initially ..... As for the SGP it was pretty dull for the most part - too slick. Apart from a few heats and when Gollob was it was pretty processional. Gollob was superb gave some excellent entertainment as only he knows how too ..... You may as well hand Nicki Pedersen the World Title now because nobody can get close to him,he is just to consistent. Both ruined their chances of victory as they tried to take care of each other on the first corner. nicholls did well to make the final and used his head well when finishing second in the semi final. Especially considering the way he started and then hit the speedway equivalent of the wall. I have no problems with Hancock giving it the "Monster" scenario and fair play to him for making the most of the final. No doubt IMG will curtail the monster sponsorship plugs unless they are looking to tap them as a major sponsor for next year :-))))))) Nothing would surprise me after they stopped stalls selling rider merchandise. -
Bydgoszcz Grand Prix
Hackett replied to pedropete's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
A 'Monster' night for hancock. Generally thought the grand prix was dull apart from gollobs exploits. He was excellent value and he and pedersen ruined there chances in final by taking care of each other. Imo the dane has the title won. . . He is just too consistent at the moment. Consistently better than everyone else. Nicholls did extremely well to make the final and it looked like he had blown his chance after his great start but used his head in semi final and rode a sensible race to get into the final. Now for the challenge tomorrow. -
Latvian Gp
Hackett replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would not surprise me that BSI have banned him from holding the drink .... Supposedly they dont allow riders to sell merchandise around the stadia anymore like that did at Wrocslaw , so people buy the SGP merchandise inside ...which we all know is tosh. -
If neither Harris or Nicholls make it they cant be given a Wild card on purely speedway terms at this stage. Bomber received a wild card last season - following a decent first season and a SGP win. Nicholls had a Wild Card the year before following an injury prevented him riding in a SGP or otherwise he would of qualified. Looking at riders that have chances of Wild Cards , I would of thought Bjerre must be up there following his SGP and SWC exploits. Should Lindgren miss out I guess he would be given a spot as AJ would then be the only Swede. That not give Nicholls or Harris a great chance.
-
Have to see how the IMG / FIM deal the Wild Cards this year because certainly the Brits are running out of time to force their way into the top 8 !!!! Certainly dont deserve to be awarded a spot at this stage but I guess it all about Cardiff !!!! Nicholls and Harris - Cardiff apart have flattered to deceive ..... by rights they should not be rewarded with a Wild Card.
-
Bridgend travelodge , You get a free rope to hang from the door there ........
-
If the Brits cant qualify through qualifiers or top 8 , they dont deserve to be in the SGP series. The only saving grace is that Cardiff is IMG's jewel in the crown. So simply finance and tv is the reason for a Brit. Is Bomber not in the qualifiers ??? If he is and cant qualify via qualifiers or top 8 , why should he be offered a Wild Card... Too early for Tai , great prospect that he is. Wild cards at the moment I would go for Chris Holder and Bjerre but lots of politics before a decision made yet ?!?!

Hard Racing Or Dirty Riding?
Hackett replied to Stephen JIM Owens's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hard racing - yes; dirty racing - no. I dont think Gollob did anything untoward , Gollob was in front and the two were riding hard and lets remember Ullevi is one of the longest and quickest tracks and a slight misjudgement had a major consequence. IMO it was just an unfortunate outcome AJ was full throttle and the crash was made all worse by the spot where AJ hit the fence ..........just glad it looks as though he may of got out of the situation unscathered -
Stir the shale ??? Stir the shale dont tell Ole Olsen that he will have a heart attack !!!! You are unlikely to see too much dirt on a SGP track because IMG / olsen do not want the sponsors logos covered ... Plus they believe slick is best !!
-
Should Harris and Nicholls continue on the same formlevel BOTH will miss the top eight by a long way and the current form guide would suggest that they should not be any where near a Wild Card pick. My personal view is if you are good enough you should qualify from your efforts over the course of the season or be unfortunate and miss out due to injury , such as Hampel did last season. Harris is using the qualifier route , Nicholls has chosen not to and thus believes that he will make the top 8 !! Should the Brits miss the top 8 then they should miss out in 2009. I dont beleive any of the young guns are ready to make the step up yet .... The Wild Card picks are normally done on the basis of marketing or sponsorship £££££ .. So would be interesting if the IMG are brave enough to make the decision and the Brits from the schedule if they fail to make the top eight. At Cardiff there would still be a Brit as a Wild Card and not all go to support the British , there are many Aces fans that follow Crump , Poole fans that follow Pedersen over Nicholls or Harris and many supporters follow their clubs riders or favourites rather than the British ..... So should there not be a major upturn in form from the two brits over the remaining 8 SGPs then I believe that they should miss out if they fail to qualify by rights whether it be top 8 or qualifiers.

Hopefully he will learn from his mistakes ... The lad has a natural talent on a speedway bike. Good luck to him ...
-
Desperate move to get into the top 2 of run off ..... took Harris off - No questions. However with the ref not even looking at a monitor having lost the red light button - it is likely all 3 will ride in SGP next year. Dont think this was premeditated or considered buy IMG / BSI as they were making it up as they went along

Final Gp, From Germany
Hackett replied to Steve Turner's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
In terms of the crap track and racing I cant believe nobody as mentioned the Ole Olsen interview in the Speedway Star last week. The focus of the interview was on how far the sport has come since the first SGP ... how the sport has developed and that now the man made tracks have been developed the next revolution shall be a new track surface .... "If we can make a new surface for speedway, as soon as we do that it will be a big leap. I still believe there's a way to have more consistent and even surface. You wont have the risk of dust and things like that. You wont need to worry about watering. We will be cleaner, able to ride in all weather conditions and we will open up all sorts of new venues where the staiums dont have to worry about cleaning up" "Within the next 5 years , I can see this happening ....... it wont be dirt it will be something different .." You see it is the fans fault why this is being considered all of you out there that has spoken to ole Olsen you are to blame !!!!!! "I like to talk to fans and I ask did you see all the spray from the back wheels and they say no, I didn't notice. They dont look at the spray they look for close racing, riders passing each other, the excitement." "Three things are important in speedway : the noise, the smell and the action - the overtaking, the close racing, riders passing each other. You cant take those things away , you cant take away the olour, the action but YOU CAN TAKE AWAY THE DIRT" -
Final Gp, From Germany
Hackett replied to Steve Turner's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was considering travelling to Germany but did not make it. I have to say that having watched it on TV I am glad !! It was the most boring SGP I have watched ... I can honestly say I have seen more passing in a shopping queue !!!!! I was glad, I could watch the rugby - then flick over for a minute's procession then flick over to Rugby again. The slick tracks can only be prepared so that the sponsors hoardings and kevlars etc dont get coated in shale because as a spectacle the SGP is proving to be woeful. From all the hype, I understood that this was to be a celebration of 100 SGP's with a $100,000 prize - Well let the riders race for it and determine who is the best rider on the night to take home the winners cheque. Not see who has got the best clutch control and ability to hit the first corner first. -
At most the Super GP will only be 12 SGP's over the season. Although unless they get shed load of sponsors may be better off riding in Sweden, Poland etc .... May all change if he wins the £100k German Bonus

British Speedway Gp 2008
Hackett replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just book hotels on expedia for each weekend and then cancel the dates not neccesary ...... Should get them cheaper then -
Could be the final year in the SGP ..... In the Star months ago in an interview he said that would be the first part of speedway he would drop. Would be a shame as Nikki Pedersen apart he has been good this season.
