Nah, can't be Moxey, he makes reference to thinking about going to a meeting in a previous post
-
The typical blind promoters response. The meeting was a p*** take. Naming the teams as you did was a cynical cash grab attempt that may have worked 30 odd years ago but only serves to alienate modern fans.. well those that are left and aren't already alienated. Promoting a meeting to Wolves fans as 'desperate to see some final laps' etc is a joke. We have posters earlier in this thread, the loyalest of Wolves fans who travel the length and breadth of the country questioning why on earth CVS agreed to the Wolves name being used. I doubt you gained anything at all from naming the teams as you did, but you certainly once again ate away some more at the integrity of the sport.

You can disprove the reasoning behind their 'opinion'. Which has been done on pretty much every single point you have made. That leaves the person with the opinion two choices.. 1: Learn and move on. 2: Be a laughing stock. You're basically the equivalent of a kid in school telling the teacher it's his opinion Bristol is the capital of England and refusing to accept anything else.
-
No trying required. It has been proven. What is childish is continuing to spout the nonsense and the refusal to learn.
-
Point 5: Thank you for clarifying. But it is interesting you rate the 70's so lowly.
-
And yet more cock and bull nonsense. You've stated multiple times you don't WATCH the GP's. You now claim you have them on in the 'background'. Strange thing to do but hey ho. Either way, you're not watching so your opinion is worthless. Yet again you come out with the claptrap reasoning you are being ridiculed because you don't think Woffinden is the best.. there's plenty who don't think he is yet, they've posted on this thread, they haven't been ridiculed because they gave genuine reasons.. You are being ridiculed because: 1: You don't watch 2: You have no intention of watching 3: You hide behind a false notion the racing was so much better so you won't go anymore, yet you live locally to perhaps the best race track there has ever been. 4: You come out with ridiculous nonsensical comments that there were more top riders in the world because there were more 10pt riders back in the day. 5: You come out with the childlike incorrect statement "It's my opinion" when you are shown to be factually wrong. Now you're adding to the nonsense with a '40 odd year old winning the title'. Are you really so dense as to not understand the advancements in diet and physical conditioning that allows riders such as Hancock to continue riding and be successful? The other key factor with Hancock that has added to his longevity is his avoidance of any serious injuries throughout his career. Speaking of 40 year olds I guess you laughed when Ivan Mauger was World Champion at 39 and 10 months old? Speaking of whom.. that brings us onto Jason Doyle... how dare a rider who was a second string for much of his career become a World Champion. Doyle first of all suffered multiple serious injuries throughout his career which slowed his progress and secondly he realised it was time to stop going through the motions and dedicate himself and take it seriously. The results have been there for all to see. Not too dissimilar to the aforementioned Ivan Mauger who also took years to reach the level of World Champion and indeed for a number of them wasn't a top dog either. So by Moxey's logic, the 70's was a really poor era, we had a journeyman rider become a World Champion and a nigh on 40 year old winning it too!

And still you continue with your utter nonsense. Let's face the facts here. You attended the sport as a freeloader. The moment you were asked to pay like everyone else you stopped going. That's the reality, it's been established and confirmed on here multiple times in the past by those in the know. Now you don't even watch, 'it's on in the background'.. usually whilst you are posting on here.. makes you even stranger of an individual. Finally, nobody is telling you to go away because you 'have a different opinion'. It is because you are talking utter garbage, making statements that pertinently aren't true, have it PROVEN to you that they aren't true yet you still come out with them.. usually garnering a few likes from similar stubborn/stupid/ignorant (delete as applicable although all three may well be applicable) who also can't accept the fact that they are wrong. Possibly because it means you've spent 30+ years of your life not realising the obvious. Finally, there is no need to tell you to go away, you've gone away, a LONG time ago, for reasons that have nothing to do with the state of the sport and have stated multiple times you have no intention to return regardless of the state of the sport. You are a completely irrelevant entity whose mere existence on forums such as this only serves to damage the sport further.

Indeed HW.. and tbf I have the utmost respect for both Erik and Hans. Riders you genuinely feared when at the tapes against your team.
-
There certainly weren't anywhere near ten in 84-85 as already illustrated.
-
He has just as many 'genuine' World Title contenders, if not more. I don't see six to ten 'genuine World Title contenders' in the 85 World Final for instance. I mean Ermolenko, someone not even riding in Europe managed to tie for 1st place! Kai Niemi 4th?? Don't see anywhere near six to ten in 84 either.. Lance King 3rd? Mitch Shirra 5th? Bo Petersen? Karl Maier?
-
Have you never seen Rickardsson ride then? You've stated that Gundersen and Nielsen are the best riders you have EVER seen ride by a Country Mile. So that's basically every top riders since the 80's assuming you've been watching the sport that long. So Erik won 3 World Titles. Woffinden has 3. That's the only relevant information you've provided. Erik may have won more.. Woffinden may well win more. Erik's a better gater.. guess that means Woffindens a better racer then.
-
Is that the best you can do, seriously? Already covered all of this, team and pairs medals are pretty irrelevant as they depend upon your partner and team mates. Unless you think Woffinden wouldn't have won any pairs with Nielsen as a partner or team events with the other Danes like Pedersen, Knudsen etc.. and Gundersen would with riders such as Harris/Cook/Lambert/King etc. Stephen Nzonzi is a better footballer than Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo etc based upon your logic. After all, how many World Cup winners medals do they have? So again, still waiting for a reason as to why Gundersen is so far ahead of Woffinden AND Rickardsson.
-
I've seen him ride countless times and I have't once said he wasn't a brilliant rider. However, you've now posted three times but are still to come up with a single reason why Gundersen is so far ahead of Woffinden... and seemingly now Rickardsson too.
-
Nobody has said he isn't an all time great. I have asked for the reasons why Gundersen ranks so much above Woffinden that you would 'fall over' at the prospect of someone saying Woffinden was better. Now you've taken it further and as I assume you have seen Rickardsson they are better than him by 'a country mile' which puts us back into fantasy land.
-
Why? You've not got off to a good start as you've got support from several folk who have shown themselves to be rather limited in terms of their speedway intelligence in this thread, let's hope you can do better. Incidentally, I'm not saying he is per se.. just interested if you can come up with some genuine reasons to back why he isn't better and not the drivel put forward by certain others on this thread.
-
When conditions suited. He may have been the most graceful, he may have been the most entertainnig.. He clearly wasn't the best, history has already proven that. It's not a situation where we're trying to compare riders from different eras.. Gollob wasn't the best in his own era.
-
As would Sudden Sam in mine... but realistically... I would say at their very best they're both a match for anyone... but to be best ever it's about being at your very best for a much longer period of time.
-
Did the article also state Moxey says he is talking nonsense
-
No. Ermolenko was constantly riding/testing bikes. He also regularly rode his 93 World Final bike as well as a modern machine and could easily compare the two. I know as I had a conversation with him about it, on the night he beat Darcy Ward, from the back Edited: My apologies, I spoke to him about it after the Olympique, he beat Darcy the following year.
-
Opinions are worthless without something to back it up. I haven't seen the article, but goals conceded wouldn't be the strongest claim to being the best goalkeeper, nowhere close.
-
Now you are stating an opinion, that is fair enough. I haven't twisted anything my way. You made the claim.. you now can't back it up and it turns out the claim was false. So no we're just left you with you and your opinion with absolutely no reasoning behind it. It's a convincing argument. By the way, I'm a better rider than anyone you've mentioned plus Mauger, Rickardsson, Nielsen, etc.
-
Bless. It might make sense if it wasn't for the fact that both Tatum and Ermolenko rode on changing machinery throughout their careers. Modern bikes are far more volatile and unpredictable when a rider gets out of shape especially.
