  1. Very true, never mind that though.. Hancock, the World Champion at the time wasn't a World Class rider like Jiri Stancl was!
  2. Errr no. Doug Wyer and Jiri Stancl were not 'World Class' riders. I'm not disputing how good PC was, simply pointing out that once again the evidence provided is nonsense. The examples I have posted show Woffinden hunting down and passing World Champions, including reigning ones on a variety of different size tracks... I find it incredulous that you can claim you have 'never seen Woffinden race like that'. Surely you must admit that statement is utter nonsense?
  3. You've never seen Tai race like that???? Jesus. Heat 3, PC is up against two average riders who'd be lucky to get a sniff of a Grand Prix place. He just goes round them, nice and easy as he should. Heat 7 a much better race, but it's clear how much faster his equipment is...despite the claims made earlier in this thread. Can't take anything away though, brilliant ride. Great riding but you really fail yourself when you claim you have 'never seen Tai race like that'. And then the first race of this selection... So now you have seen Woffinden ride like that.
  4. Established riders are irrelevant in respect to this meeting. There is zero excuse for not tracking the 16 riders. Drew Kemp has been named 'meeting reserve'. Why? Get him in the line up, I am sure he would rather race that sit around all night. Add in three other NL riders of a decent standard. It's a handicap meeting so it makes it interesting anyway. Unlike most individual meetings attendances for the Olympique have generally held up quite well even with the lowering of the standard. This takes it to a new low though.
  5. Are you now trying to claim Scott Nicholls would rather be 'British Champion' than 'World Champion'? Seriously?
  6. I would suggest Mr Nicholls would say otherwise.
  7. An utter disgrace of a line-up put out by Wolverhampton Speedway. Only 12 riders? Absolute p*** take. There is simply no excuse. Why is Drew Kemp 'reserve'? Get him in the line up. Even if you filled the other three with decentish NL riders who I'm sure would love a chance to ride it would at least give 16 riders and allow 20 heats with the handicap format. Instead it's simply more cost cutting, more ripping off fans and the net result will only be, yet more fans giving it a miss... for good.
  8. Moxey, still not grasping that BSI stream the GP live, for free, on their website in the USA. No illegal stream needed.
  9. When someone as dedicated as Lefty, who travels the length and breadth of the country supporting his team speaks in this way promoters would be wise to listen. Sadly... they quite simply don't.
  10. British Speedway yes. World Speedway not so much. Of course British speedway was better, I'd love it to be back where it was in the early 90's even and even at that point it had declined a lot. I'm not referring to the quality of the racing or the ability of the riders.. just simply the fact we had the worlds best riders racing here, attendances were better, which made everything seem more exciting. I don't think anybody has ever disputed that...
  11. I quite agree to an extent, those of us left still attending league speedway.. and I count myself in that as I still attend when I can and indeed yourself as well.. must either be gullible or just downright stubbornly refusing to give up on a sport we grew up with and loved. The wider public though that's not the case and what worked and appealed back in the 70's and 80's no longer works. That isn't necessarily a good thing either.
  12. Both.. how many second halves has Tai won?
  13. Except they weren't... and now they are. Talk about head in sand.
  14. Again all things which went on previously, but you were happy as you were freeloading.
  15. Yet we have a poster who tells us how brilliant it used to be consistently suggesting there is collusion in the modern sport. The hypocrisy is staggering.
  16. That's a matter of opinion.. It's gone on so long because several posters who have that opinion have tried to justify it with incorrect statements.. When corrected they're not adult enough to learn and move on.
  17. So it seems the sport back then was far more corrupt than I thought, seems I have been very naive.
  18. Many thanks for pointing out my mistype. It should of course have said, proliferation. Sadly for you i wasn't annoyed and indeed apologised for my error. I could have gone down the route of.. "it's my opinion its spelt profileration how dare you tell me otherwise" blah blah. So once again, for the umpteenth time on this thread, you've tried to score a pt but it's ended up being an own goal.
  19. A lot, excuse my spelling if it is incorrect!
  20. If only you knew what you were actually posting. I am about as vocally critical of the sport today in the UK as anyone, so it's another to add to the ever growing list of things you've got wrong. Being right isn't annoying. You keep talking nonsense, I keep correcting you. Are you still labouring under the belief that there were more 'world class' stars in the 70's because of the profileration of 10pt averages for example? As for Harris.. you're annoyed because a rider for a team you don't support, in a sport you don't watch had a pair of leathers made representing the team he rode for? You are serious about that? Your problems are more far reaching than I thought! What did you expect, him to turn up wearing a Rye House suit?
  21. Exactly. You can win the World Cup in football without ever scoring a goal. I guess that means it's a laughing stock, try explaining it to folks in pubs around the country. No wonder nobody watches the World Cup.
  22. So a rider must sit on his backside when he is out of a job, is that your point? As for him guesting in the Cup Final, that's happened multiple times even in the 'good old days' so hardly a relevant point between then and now. One thing that is apparent, fans were a hell of a lot more gullible in the past. Many still are, hence believing because a league had a lot of 10pt riders they were all World Title Contenders. Oh and by the way, I don't disagree it was more fun in the past, more people there, better atmosphere, EVERYTHING seems better. Of course, you stopped attending a long time before any of the major problems of recent times began so they're just being used a cover for you not getting in free anymore... Boy, it's a long time to hold a grudge!
  23. It's amusing your constant suggestion that the GP series is fixed or that certain riders are working in collusion. Of course, loving the sport in a period where such collusion was rampant, riders were taking bungs to throw races and it all resulted in a nation media scandal which was the beginning of the slippery slope for the sport in the UK one can understand that.
  24. Hmm.. Very different situation. That IS a matter of opinion, you have yours, I have mine, neither of us can prove it. The promoters all side with me... which probably means you are right
