I'd say young Tom isn't big enough to ride a 500. Talented enough beyond a doubt but not big or strong enough. Why the rush? I know let's build the lad right up so we can knock him back down at the first opportunity . far better I think to let him progress at a controlled rate and let him learn his craft the right way.

I thought Warwick did pretty well Tbh. No concerns he's been around and will come good. Mason also turned up and did well. Once Brad is at 1 the team is a strong as any in the league . Kelsey is a young man with a lot on his shoulders with the hype of the name and his dad's reputation to live up to. Remember people that was his third meeting. Never understand it when fans hit the panic button so early. Seem only to keen to point the finger. Yesterday was pretty much a glorified practice anyways. as for the moaning about the tractor I'm sure the same people would be moaning if they couldn't see the track for dust. And remember it was put to the fans whether Saturday night or Sunday afternoon and it was pretty unanimous for Sundays. So they are going to have to put up with a bit of track watering and grading. Thought it was a fair crowd for a nothing meeting Tbh. Still say it looks pretty good for the Eagles this year.

Shelleys? Yuk. You'll get Shelleybelly lol. Even my dog turns it nose up

Sam Heath? Really? Connor Dugard would have been better. Couple of real "make up the numbers" riders in their! Looking forward to watching Tim Brennan again, big ol pair of balls on the kid. Should be a good day. Anyone not been to eastbourne before, the burgers behind turn 2 are the ones. The others are rubbishe👍 Damn anti swear filter. The other burgers are worse than rubbish. Lol

That ship sunk!

Doesn't look great at Kent. At least at Eastbourne the track will be good and there will be enough tyres to go round lol.

Dan Greenwood looked good with an eagle on his back.

The pole won't string enough good rides together to be in contention.

So will he!

Tough call to name a winner . Rich Andrews is quick, Kelsey can start like a terrier , Georgie is getting faster and faster, Danny is more than capable of beating the lot hands down, the Kiwi will use every line in the book and then some if he's behind but that won't be often, Marc can win this too. The rest won't be making it easy for any of the Eagles team members. Danny Ayers is a gutsy rider. The meeting certainly won't be dull. Champion of Sussex aside there's some serious bragging rights on the line between them.

out of order.

To Waco; Brandon concusion was from Scunthorpe , the second meeting of the year. Rocketben, he didn't miss a meeting for Hackney in 2011. Then sat out 2012 with a broken leg caused by a car driver. Then last year got taken out on the island by jj and suffered a broken wrist. But with any luck he won't return to a sport where the promoter of his parent club didn't know he was sidelined!

Careful whistlegang, you're perilously close to being on topic there........

There's now a new face book group. Kent Speedway Supporters Group. With any luck it will be about speedway and not politics

But to be fair Adam did appear to have a better debut season.

What Now For Joe Screen?

I think Lewis Bridger truly believes that! -
And I like ones that totally skip over the point and come back with something different from the point I was making!! Amateurs don't get fined if they are late or break down or have their equipment pinched. I like you point out how I berated your ideas? I simply made my point coming from a professional point of view. Perhaps we should scrap professional speedway and just have amateur meetings then?

Where did I say it was in good shape? I simply stated why your idea of estate cars and trailers was tosh. Perhaps a career in politics would suit you .
-
Sometimes it pays to know what you're talking about before opening your mouth and making yourself look dumb! For a start trailers are impractical and who would want to leave one with around 10 grands worth of kit on in the car park of a service station. Secondly , when I raced sidecar grasstrack a good few years ago I saw a trailer turn over with an outfit on. Also who wants their bikes on a trailer getting wet, even with a tarp it's not ideal. For another thing, promoters now insist on riders having 2 bikes and more often than not it is in their contract that they do. Transit van every time, room for 2 or 3 sometimes 4 bikes if sharing a journey. Tool boxes, kit and 6 people. How many estate cars fit that bill? As Jonny pointed out, who the hell wants to do a European road trip with a trailer or some cheap banger that's going to have problems. As parents we try to teach our kids to be professional , it attracts sponsors, the promoters want it and so do the fans. I worked with a young rider last year who didn't have two penny's to scratch his arse with but he did his best with what he had and was openly berated by his promoter for only having 1 bike. With the Isle of Wight, I'm afraid if they can't encourage more islanders to attend then it's doomed whether they find someone to throw money in or not. The issue is paying punters not the air fence. That was just a bridge too far for the current chairman.

Best piece I've read in the star for years! Any chance he could do a regular column ?
