Saw Heeps last night in the second half at Lynn, looks a tidy little rider although perhaps the weight of expectation being placed on his shoulders by aljack with regards to the Witches next year might be a little unrealistic.

Pretty dull fayre last night I thought with only two or three decent heats but thats taking nothing away from the Saints who were fantastic and deserve huge credit for the way they discover and develop their youngsters. They still would have won with Nielsen (why on earth did he not get 4 rides?) and Greenwood riding instead of a 27 year old guest and R/R and if it was the rules that prevented this happening they need sorting. Would love to see the Saints win the NL title as their side is what the league at this level should be about.

Where did screamer's post go Not having a go at Scunny at all by the way in any of my posts, or the Young Stars for that matter, I just think the rules could be a bit more development friendly. No disrespect at all to Barrie Evans who is an entertaining rider at this level but he's unlikely to go much further in the sport so it would surely be better to get Stefan in the side and put one of the Saint's PL contingent at number one. I very much hope that both Stefan and Adam Kirby get the four R/R rides each.

Why not just put the two number 8's in instead of R/R? Seems daft.

And I be that going rate goes straight out of the window in many cases.

I don't personally believe that R/R should be permitted in the NL if another rider is available, it should be about giving young lads the chance to ride.

It always amuses me when people complain about car parking.....if you go to any event anywhere and you park your car in an area with lots of other cars and there are only a couple of ways out of that car park you are going to have to wait, simple physics. Either leave a little earlier to beat the rush, stay late to let it clear or be content to get in a queue and tough it out!

I'm not judging any set of fans in particular, I'm pretty sure that every track has an element of its support who can mouth off and come out with unnecessary stuff. I'm all for banter but sometimes it can go OTT, I've experienced it over the years when we've ridden against Ipswich, P'boro, Mildenhall and Rye in particular and its been Lynn fans just as often as opposition supporters who have been out of order.

I wasn't, it was a general point really. I've seen enough unacceptable behaviour over the twenty five odd years I've been going to speedway to know what some speedway fans can be like, and there is no excuse for it.

Grown adults who act like hooligans when they go to speedway need to grow up, whatever team they support.

I accept that Lee, Louis & Jolly represent an excellent bank of experience and knowledge from which youngsters can learn, but I just question public carpeting of young riders after a bad performance. I don't recall reading about any showboating at Belle Vue, and I thought it was a bit of an over reaction by Lee after a defeat to a very good side. Scunthorpe and Rye house both have good records of producing good young riders and I can't remember Rob Godfrey or Len Silver going bananas when they lose an away match, although as I said its a bit different for a stand alone club I suspect. I agree to an extent about the comfort zone.....I think one of the reasons that young Aussies do so well when they come over is that they have to perform well to arguably afford to ride and feed themselves; they are a determined bunch, thousands of miles from home and more often than not succeed. Over the last few years the British GP riders have tended to get 'free passes' into the GP's for example and thats not a good thing; the latest example of this kind of treatment is Josh Auty (our best young rider at present) getting a wild card into the British final despite failing to get through his semi. As with most issues I just think the situation needs a bit of balance.....I wouldn't expect the manager of a stand alone team to roll over and accept a hiding but neither do I think that public rollickings do young riders any good. If words have to be said then do it in private and make sure you're not knocking a young lad's confidence in so doing.

It seems to be the way that Michael Lee wants to run the team at Mildenhall, just shows the difference between a stand alone NL team and the junior side of a PL/EL club I guess. He gave all bar two of the Fen Tigers a public roasting after their defeat at Belle Vue despite the Colts being one of the stronger sides in the NL and most of Mildenhall's riders not being familiar with Kirky Lane. I can understand the need for a competitive team at West Row to keep the punters coming through the gate but it doesn't sound like the best environment for promising youngsters like Jacobs and Blackbird to be learning in when they are likely to get a public dressing down if they don't perform. It seems to fly in the face of what Kevin Jolly wanted to bring to Mildenhall when interviewed in the Speedway Stars shortly after taking the club on.

We've been to a wedding all day today and so put the GP on Sky plus but I don't think we'll even bother watching it back in the morning having read this thread. Prague is crap but world championship speedway in general is pretty poor nowadays, it promises so much but delivers so little and I only really attend Cardiff for the social aspect of the weekend. Its time somebody grabbed track preparation for the series by the scruff of the neck and turned the whole thing into an exciting product again.

Unfortunately I just think that the majority of people prefer a higher standard of speedway, no doubt our EL crowds have so far been up on last years PL attendances which in turn were higher than CL/PL crowds have probably ever been at Lynn. I guess it's the same with football if you look through the Premiership and Football League attendances on a Saturday. Personally watching the Young Stars doesn't get my juices flowing like watching the 'big boys' does but I always enjoy watching the NL lad's endeavour and will get along to watch them whenever I can.

Well done to the Young Stars. Its a bit of a mystery why crowds haven't picked up this year with meetings on Wednesday evenings now.....personally I didn't go last night as I was at Mildenhall on Sunday and will be at Lakeside on Saturday and the speedway budget wouldn't stretch to three meetings in a week. Maybe others are doing the same, perhaps the weather put them off, who knows. On a more positive note I hear that Robert Lambert went round during the second half in 64 seconds on a 250cc machine. Get him as signed up as you can Buster!

Why

Probably not the best meeting Fen Tigers' fans will see this season but a thoroughly deserved victory for their team. Mainly from the gate apart from a couple of passes by Birks and a great effort by Hargreaves in heat 13 and unfortunately the Young Stars were dreadful in this department, time and time again they were lengths down going into the first turn. Very impressed with Lewis Blackbird, he looks the real deal.
