2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams
Bagpuss replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Never mind the riders, its not nice for punters to park and walk on! Unfortunately its the one part of the stadium not owned by Buster but instead the council, and neither party is willing to resurface it. -
1996. Was because of the purchase of the stadium by Buster rather than a change of promotion.

I don't think folk are against guests if they are absolutely necessary (ie number one or a reserve) but R/R should be compulsory for numbers 2-5 unless more than one is missing and then it really should be a rider who doesnt already race in that league. Riders helping/hindering direct rivals is absolutely bonkers and needs to be kept to a minimum. And we certainly need to clamp down on absences, particularly in the Championship. Far too many last season. -
Without getting into 'he said, she said' I've heard that Cooper's two clubs for this season were agreed months and months ago. That's not to say that he couldn't have been persuaded by Ipswich at the 11th hour but he's had an affiliation with Lynn for many years and the fact that he's ended up a Star is little surprise.

Won't be Sweden if we have a mare as they are in the other semi. Germany won't be easy to beat in their own backyard though.
-
From what I've heard there seems to be a pretty good chance that Northampton will happen but time will tell. Things can change pretty quickly, both positively and negatively.

First title of the season, well done Poole
-
Northampton.

I'm not sure anyone any good on a 4 is willing/able to come over to the UK for a whole season unfortunately, if at all. While Paco has his limitations his experience will be useful with a very young reserve pairing and of course what he brings off track too.

First SWC event at Lynn 2010, last one in 2015. I think the Hamill comeback one was 2012 but he didn't ride at Lynn.
-
Didn't think so.

The meeting at Lynn was the second leg of the Play Off final: https://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/21410/leicester-poole-championship-final-2022

Could you provide a list of who 'slagged him off' and those who are happy he's in the team so that we can cross reference please?

I completely agree, I think the 2nd v 3rd to face 1st system would work better. -
Yep I think thats thr crux of it, Lawson or NKI would have meant a very long tail. Personally I think an injury free season for Cook and he can improve on 6.whatever he is on but we shall see.
-
No idea on Pollestad but I think Cooper was only ever ending up at the two places he's signed for.
-
Welcome Coops. An incredibly exciting side being built, I love the idea of a reserve pairing graduating from the Young Stars. Especially if one of them is a Norfolk boy. McDairmid would be my choice at 2 personally.
-
The fact that Northampton was talked about a long time ago and is still being mentioned suggests there is something in it. I suspect all will become clear in the next week or two.
-
I assume its been different for the league title live on telly.
-
Ba dum tshhh
-
He hates flying apparently so I can't ever see him racing over here unfortunately.
-
And a full stadium to race in front of, wages on time, lots of meetings, trophies and a feel good factor. The track comments are valid as it leaves a fair bit to be desired but everything else is really attractive for a rider to sign for them if approached.

Or the most likely and sensible reaction which would be the middle ground, ie support/watch him as a Witch without having to like/love him or even have any feelings towards him. -
As far as I know they have all sorts going on all year round, the advantage of having 24/7-365 access to a stadium.
-
Won't be him thankfully.
