  1. Not sure if this is a question or statement nor which track it refers to, sorry. If it's Glasgow I had no problems viewing. If Edinburgh I've not been in hospitality there but I'm sure the club will be investigating all options re viewing from hospitality. Bring on the changes and the better atmosphere.
  2. I was in the hospitality at Glasgow and this is on the 4th turn and I found the viewing pretty good.
  3. If I remember correctly the current 3/4 bend was widened prior to season 2012 and improved the bend considerably, with both inside and outside lines being used. I'd like to think that work would help with any concern re the new 1/2 turn. Bring on the new season.
  4. If the starting gate is moved back to the stadium side of the track I would greatly welcome it. The start finish line is where the results are decided and with the action starting in front of the bulk of the crowd it should help boost the atmosphere again. I normally stand on the current 1/2 turn and to be honest I sometimes struggle to see the first bend action so personally I don't think I'll be a great loss in moving the first turn to the other end of the stadium, and in fact it may actually help my viewing. I also think the action (home straight) is moving closer to hospitality suites. All good in my book. Lots of my friends have also commented over the years that they'd welcome this very change.
  5. Great effort from the young man. I thoroughly enjoyed the updates in tandem with the online audio coverage that was available.
  6. The most pleasing things about it are : it's a young team, with great passing ability (although I've not seen Sam do that yet in Blue and Gold colours yet) and that they can all improve their averages.
  7. Good to hear that the track will be altered a bit. I'll be trying to get through more often, perhaps even for non Monarchs matches!! Really depends on how good the racing is.
  8. Is there due to be any track changes at Ashfield during the close season?
  9. Indeed, especially considering the gloom that surrounded the club's future just a few short months ago. It's a credit to the promotion to shrug that off (with a little help) and piece together such a potentially exciting team. It has the look of being solid at home and also a handful away from home.
  10. I hope both tracks offer up some great racing. Last year when the likes of Cookie missed the gate, there were few greater spectacles than seeing him chase and ultimately pass his opponent. Likewise Wee Joe (less of a trapper than Cookie) but showed some stunning skill whilst passing the opposition last season around The Dale. Theo and Derek were also involved in some of the races of the season, Derek got my vote with his race against Alex Davies. Marcel had his moments last year but mostly when he trapped granted. If you throw the young man Max Fricke into the equation well .... cracking racing should be on the cards on a tremendously prepared track. Here's hoping we all get drier weather this season to allow the riders to show their undoubted talents.
  11. I must admit to being very optimistic about the season ahead. Ultimately the trophies will end up wherever they end up but I feel the team is packed with young, entertaining riders.... and on a week to week basis have the potential to serve up some cracking racing at Armadale.
  12. Really pleased that Marcel has rejoined the Mighty Monarchs. IMO the best Edinburgh Monarchs team on paper ever assembled. A couple of solid professionals Derek and Theo providing experience and in the former's case fantastic captain skills. Two young reserves with bags of talent, Marcel and Joe. A potential gem in Max. A young and exciting rider who has already shown he is definitely going places in the sport, Sam. And the best rider in the league last year, a young man that is very ambitious and has the talent and dedication to back that ambition up...Cookie. Well done to all involved in piecing that team together. I only hope the crowds return to watch such an entertaining line up.
  13. Decent effort by young Max Fricke today equal 10th in the Aussie Title qualifier. He didn't make it through to the Aussie Championship Series but I'm sure that will change in years to come. Micky Dyer made it through to join Sam Masters (amongst others) in the series. Good luck to all.
  14. Coming in part of the way through the season can often be difficult for any number of reasons. Marcel however did show real flashes of ability and was responsible for a meeting point or two away from home. I think there is definitely more to come from Marcel.
  15. I must admit I'd like Marcel to get the final team spot. He did fairly well last season all things considered.
  16. Max seems to have done pretty well tonight at Mildura for Jason Lyons Testimonial Thanks to Edinburgh Speedway website http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news/article.asp?id=1252
  17. I think we have 3.21 left (but not 100% sure). The promotion have turned a very negative situation (nearly going out the game) into a very positive team selection. IMO they've pieced together what looks like the best team to wear the Blue & Gold. Magnificent.
  18. Aha. Then it could be the council sell stadium and build multi purpose sports stadium for the area.
  19. Or you could look at it in a positive fashion. I'm not sure if Berwick Rangers own the stadium but if they do, sell it for £x million and ask the speedway to join them in a new multi sports stadium.
  20. Sam Masters is a class act. I have every faith in the promtion with regards to the filling of the remainder of the team places.
