  1. Chops let's hope that Cookie and Wee Joe are 100% fit. If so you never know...
  2. I didn't realise, until later today, that Scunny wanted to avoid The Mighty Monarchs as well.....interesting.
  3. According to here http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news/article.asp?id=1217 Newcastle wanted to avoid Edinburgh. Pity as I think a Newcastle v Edinburgh match could have been a very good chance of a large Edinburgh support, perhaps George is waiting on the final ;-)
  4. Chops IMO with the exception of Workington I think Edinburgh would have a decent chance of match points at most of the other top 6 team's track. That is however if we have a 100% Cookie and Joe. That said hats off to the Edinburgh promotion again for doing what they indicated was possible i.e. getting to the play offs Many criticised them for the team and for the team changes but they've pulled one out the bag....yet again. Excellent.
  5. Being an optimistic person I thought Edinburgh may well have had a good chance with a full sttegth team against the current Newcastle team, but not so optimistic now.
  6. According to Edinburgh website - suspected broken wrist for Cookie.
  7. Yes these continue to be difficult times. Looking on the bright side if we eventually get through double/treble/quadruple dip clubs will hopefully be leaner and have low cost base. It goes without saying that if Glasgow failed to continue Edinburgh promotion would have some more difficult questions to ask themselves.
  8. According to Speedway Star Glasgow are up for sale. Any takers so far?
  9. I feel a bit sorry for Doolan, he's always been a rider I enjoy watching, nice style and always does well around The Dale (a track for the thinking rider with throttle control). Here's hoping it all works out for him. Hopefully he'll still be putting in an appearance at Stormy's testimonial.
  10. Not a bad idea Although I'm not sure what would happen the year after back to 4 teams or hold it a Pardubice each year? Shift the Golden Helmet to the same week... mmm
  11. Could be worse at least they're not talking about seeding Team GB to the final....
  12. Personally I thought it was a playful gesture (hence the half smile afterwards) but then again I'm not as sensitive as you ... ;-) Re the joker, I think if the Danes sit down in the cold light of day and ask 'did we lose any race points in relation to our competitors with our actions' I'd suggest they did Pedersen effectively lost 2 and MJJ effectively dropped 2 and Watt only dropped 1. Decent meeting but only 2 and a bit teams turned up. Weather spolit the racing a bit. Future battles between the Young Aussies and Young Danes will be a joy to watch. Get the two young danes and ward into the GP's now, IMO.
  13. Speedway riders not trying ... now when did I last see that? .... there were 7 jokers that night
  14. Some very good speedway talent on show tonight. Will the Russians give enough support to Emil? Will Darcy's injury hold out? Will the young Danes handle the pressure? Will the Swedes be race sharp? It'll be fun finding out.
  15. I'm doing very well, thanks. Say hello to the wee man and the rest of the bunch for me.... '..what on earth could go wrong?' The apartment wouldn't happen to have a balcony similar to the Royal Arms? lol Enjoy
  16. Enjoy yourself big chap sounds like the track is a goodun'.
  17. If a man of Crumpie's speedway standing indicates it's been one of the best meetings he's participated in that'll do for me, no matter how it came about. IMO the Joker ride added to this meeting.
  18. Maybees aye maybees naw Oz could have replaced Holder with Crump if they really wanted. Personally I'd have been happy to give joker ride to Holder, he certainly tried like a bear.
  19. What do you say about that? Gollob breaks Aussie hearts again. I'm glad that all 4 teams were able to use the joker this time, so no one team was disadvantaged. Poland looking in lots of trouble early doors but the legend that is Tomasz Gollob was simply class. Two back to back wins (heats 9 & 10 I think) both with huge pressure on them and he didn't really gate in either. The man is the best thing to happen to speedway. And as for heat 25 sublime stuff. Crump and Holder were excellent. And for my money THJ didn't look out of place in this company, gaun yersel wee Tam. And a special mention as ever for the Polish fans yet another example of amazing emotional investment in your team.
  20. Personally I hope the racing is a we bit better than Thursday, the riders didn't appear to get much drive when they went wide, so if that is sorted we could be in for a cracker. Which team will win...? Sweden look like they are carrying two passengers based on Thursday's performance Aussies look like they are carrying one passenger based on Thursday's performance Denmark look re-energised by Nicki Pedersen Poland look very solid Judging by some of the comments on Thursday it sounds like Denmark have a few riders that are comfortable on the Gorzow circuit and I would imagine the same can be said for Poland. Poland by 6 then Denmark, Oz and Sweden.
  21. Darcy Ward almost single handedly made this match watchable. The lad tries like a bear.
