  1. Btw. did anyone else notice resonance chamber in Emil´s exhaust header pipe during SEC race in Kumla?
  2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsrINAFNsBo IMME heat 22 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAWSTWjAJrU ..and the Final.
  3. I would point at "new" silencers. You have to go all-in all the time. Cant change lines, cant slow down or you end up on the passanger seat of your own bike going towards wall or the guy next to you. There isnt a rider who would take mid rev control vs. speed at full rpm. Points = money, with fast bike you get points and to race you need money. Change system towards limited monthly wage and races towards Tour de France if you want safety over speed. Havent tried 2015 silencers. I hope they will bring some more control for the rider.
  4. Great to hear about the return of MoS. Ice speedway needs more events in Europe.
  5. Adjusting your setup during the meeting is the really tricky part. All of those who race in GP can do prerace setups pretty good but the small things happen during the meeting.
  6. In 5th his primary chain went with sparks flying before first bend.
  7. Was Harris on GM in the first 3 heats tonight? Im sure he was on GTR in the last two. He did nicely in his fourth heat on GTR.
  8. Is it time to re... HELL NO! I like how it is these days but restart should be done quicker. Clutch might get hot but you are not forced to take a test start everytime.
  9. Emil Sajfutdinow and Peter Kildemand are two guys who produce entertainment. Also a reason why I like SEC more than GP. Not to forget Laguta brothers.
  10. Are bikes any easier to control with new exhausts versus last few years? Havent had a chance to try these new ones. With longer stroke piston speed/velocity becomes a problem. In short stroke engine mean piston speed is lower than in long stroke. Something to do with piston durability and valve timing. Cant remember but I remember a tuner cursing about the topic few years ago.
  11. Waiting to see pics inside GTR engine. Head looks wide so it must be DOHC. Problem with older DOHC engines was roller chain that wasnt very durable. Just a little streching on it messed the optimum performance that was possible to get out of the double cam engineering. I bet that under that valve cover there is tooth chain like in modern double cam motocross engine that can go for hours and hours with the same chain. Second thing to get more hours out of speedway engine would be an oil injection nozzle built in the engine case pointing upwards to oil the cylinder every time piston is in the TDC. Same type of nozzle would be nice to oil valve train components at the top.
  12. VP Drag Racing M1 Methanol? That is pretty pure stuff.
  13. Oil pump and water cooling could make engines more durable, but they also cause more resistance. And if you want an engine that goes fast as possible, you dont want anything fighting against it. Now days speedway engines are made from cast parts. Could engines be more lighter and durable when made from forged billet aluminium alloy with CNC? How much is the price difference with cast and CNC milled cylinder head? Also, you could make speedway engines more durable by adding different types of unobtanium parts, coatings etc. things but they would jump up the prices, a lot.
  14. My point was to say that this rider in the video isnt some sunday guy but the very top of the sport taking the bike on the limit. And yes, there is lots of helmet cam material from the top guys like James Stewart, Barcia, Roczen, Ken de Dycker.. nobody goes to the rev limiter while riding with 450, maybe on a panic rev in the air. There is no point because these engines arent made for it. Not even in Lommel. Cairolli on his 350 goes pretty close but he rides it like a chubby 250. In AMA and GP, 250s goes to the limit, but they are rebuilt after every race with every trick part in the basket so no point of talking about reliability there. Lower classes are going towards 125cc two strokes because 250f:s are too expensive (and rumor says "killing the sport!") Figure out the exhaust noise problem and speedway engines will live longer. These exhaust that we are using now are able to melt ice racing engines ffs.. Ken De Dycker, MXON 2013: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z08a4jvZUw Freddy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zN0ZINukDY
  15. Yeap, you cant really put KTM, Yamaha, Kawi cylinder heads on the table next to Jawa or even GM. I just love the way new KTM´s are built. Very easy to maintain etc. But hardly ever 450mx engines are ran on the rpm peak. Like the vid I posted where RV rides in Unadilla. Ryan´s Kawi doesnt peak at all. Mainly because they look for easy handling, traction and keeping the momentum going forward. Gearbox, water cooling and computer adjusted fuel injection system are things that keeps these bikes going like they do. When they work like they should they will never go lean, rich, overheat.. Oh, and for those who dont know who is Ryan Villopoto? Guy is one of the best active motocross and supercross riders in the world at the moment.
  16. Please, dont bring MX engines to the conversation. They are not even close to the beating that speedway engines are having. In same rpm range speedway engines would also go for many many many hours. But speedway engines wont see these rpms after warming up at the pits. Here is a helmet cam from Ryan Villopoto racing in Unadilla. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2fuUeDqATM
  17. I remember something that speedway was banned because of the dust in Japan.
  18. If you want to ban something I would point my finger at titanium and carbon fiber.
  19. New engine that you arent allowed to touch?! from Jawa?! They cant even make two engines the same. When I rode I had two 884s. Both factory standard, both totally different from each other. First one was ok, had torque to go around. Not a GM but ok. Other one was crap from day one. Always jumped around and was very difficult to ride. Used both of them for years, they were rebuild many times. One was ok, one wasnt, both were crap compared to tuner built GM. CNC work on cylinder head could have helped, maybe. What would happen to speedway if there would be engines that you arent allowed to "touch". You have to buy 10 engines to find one good one to use. It is something else than engines that is wrong in UK speedway. In motocross, even low level, only suspension work per season costs almost the same as riding low level speedway.
  20. Maybe Gollob had a long night with all the old riders who came to party with Greg Hancock. Il bet there has been soooo much riding in the hotel bar last night.
  21. Dakota North doesnt seem to take this as a fun challenge. In first, almost crashed on his own in the first bend and in his second he touched tapes.
  22. Greg is just a real showman. Riding fast, hard but fair. Always smiling and radiating positive energy. Used to watch lots of his gating style when I was kid. I still have some VHSs in the basement like early 90s Elite league matches with Heathens and 96 GP season, 97 last GP in Vojens.
  23. 3th place for Tai would be good for speedway in UK, so I support Tai in this one! btw. get tracks like Bydgoszcz, Torun and Czestochowa in UK. Kings Lynn and Coventry are good but those three are great. Like someone said earlier those trick tracks are bad for speedway. Home win is great but I would like to see racing instead of just gate and go 5-1s. People want to see quality racing. Home win is just a bonus?
  24. I hope the tv politics isnt going towards Formula 1. No emotions, no trash talk. It is one of the great things in SGP that cameras are going close and personal in the pits.
