  1. You’re usually more sophisticated in your criticism What’s Steady done to you?
  2. I think you need to read what I wrote. Glasgow speedway no doubt loses money. But I understand that the loss is more than covered by the commercial benefit to their other businesses. The discussion was about a workable business plan, and you only have to look at the success of the associated businesses to see that the amount of marketing benefit derived from Glasgow speedway is paying off. When Poole had RIAS as it’s sponsor, their sponsorship was a cost to the business but a marketing boost. It’s the same impact derived in a different manner.
  3. The one exception to this has to be Glasgow. Yes, they have poured eye watering amounts into everything that goes on at Ashfield, but the amount of publicity for the owners’ core businesses has to provide a substantial payback. I can’t think of any one more professional in running speedway in UK than the Glasgow owners.
  4. He also picked the wrong side in a disagreement, allegedly
  5. Musielak looking further north. About 180 miles further…….
  6. Please no. Anyone but him. BSF has been a much kinder place since he got the bum’s rush oop North
  7. I thought Oxford already had a promoter? The name Courtney was being bandied about before but I wasn’t sure if it was Sean, Scott, Jamie or even Mark. But I’d guess it to be the one who lives closest. As long as it’s not John. That would be totally farcical. And not at all honest
  8. You’ve heard the same rumour as me, then. Danish double at Glasgow. Maybe even a Danish triple. Poole won’t be able to use him because of the Wednesday Danish League, but that won’t stop non-Wednesday tracks from wanting him.
  9. Has Josh Auty retired? I’ve not seen any mention of him anywhere? In my view, he’d be better than Jorgensen
  10. Not to be confused with David Hemsley who ran Leicester into the ground, only for the team to be saved by a combination of Buster Chapman and Damian Bates, but who is still the leaseholder of Beaumont Park?
  11. Is it not every teams “obvious ambition to win”? The only promoter I can recall whose ambition was to come no better than second every year was the late Ian Thomas. His logic was that, once you’ve won, your fans expect you to win every year. And, if you don’t, then they disappear. If you are towards the top of the league but don’t win, you still leave something for your supporters to strive for.
  12. Great meeting and great result. Glasgow were the best of the rest, by some margin, but ultimately carried too many under performers. There were three Cooks on show tonight, but only two of them can go home happy with their night’s worth. Glasgow have a winter to rebuild and rebuild they must. A new number one has to be too of the shopping list……in my opinion
  13. Track looks smooth but with plenty of dirt on it. Still tight and everyone’s now had a ride.
  14. Oxford for Premiership with a ‘known” promoter (but not Uncle Len!) But not with Doyley unless there’s been a big change!
  15. That’s not what the article says. He said he was retiring from Kent Speedway, not all of speedway. My guess is he has phrased this carefully to allow him to reappear somewhere else. He’s only 89 after all. Far too young to retire
  16. I gather that the landlords were seeking an unsustainable increase in rent, so nothing to do with failure to run the final fixture. But then, that might also be a rumour. What is not is that Len has said that, as he promoted a meeting to celebrate British speedway’s 50th anniversary, he was planning on promoting one for the 100th. In 2028!
  17. Don’t you worry about Jan Anderson, Steve. He’s an Edinburgh supporter. They’re a cold lot. The Glasgow jocks will give you a warm welcome. But, by the way, it’s Irn Bru
  18. Could it be because only fans get worked up about it? I’m not sure what there is to test. Riders ride where they want to ride and teams holding their registration can’t stop them. It has been challenged within BSPA, one of the times was Adrian Miedinski wanting to ride for Poole when Swindon held his registration. The rider got his way
  19. I’m not sure what I should be seeing. There’s a man booing like a child at the pantomime and Glasgow’s team manager waving a fist at him? Perhaps I should follow Mike Hunter’s lead and say “There’s a man booing like a child at a pantomime and Glasgow’s team manager APPARENTLY waving a fist at him?”!
  20. Give the man a break. There’s nothing better than a bad loser venting his spleen on a website. Maybe someone should feed him a dodgy burger and then see if there’s a lax rule that allows a guest reporter for today.
