  1. Subedei? I've met him twice and have a photo of him taken at Coventry 3 years ago on my webshots http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/22382...047007148OsWYSJ Hoping he doesn't mind, but after the write up I'm giving him, surely not? (Dig that shirt!) I met him again a few weeks ago at Berwick and can confirm he is all the things you say and more. He is intelligent, articulate, has a brilliant sense of humour and is a thoroughly nice chap. If only he didn't keep repeating the same things over and over again on the forum he would be perfect.
  2. Now that I can believe, although I wasn't a Coventry fan back then. I've got a terrible memory but one thing I've never forgotten is the sight of Ron smashing into the fence on the fourth bend where I stand. He was way out in front so heaven knows what he was doing; perhaps a lapse of concentration.
  3. Very sorry to hear that. He attended a reunion in Leicester in 2004 and I took this photo of him with Charlie Barsby. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1450617580047007148MjXmrK
  4. You may be assuming wrongly. Subedei has stated elsewhere on the forum that next year's final is in Poland and he's always right isn't he?
  5. I think Keith Hewen was saying that in a roundabout way by repeatedly calling the team GBR. The R stands for Rubbish doesn't it? What do I expect on Thursday? Britain to be battling for 3rd place with the Russians. (But I'll be very happy to be proved wrong.)
  6. If you say. Who knows exactly because the forum has been going since 2001, but it's definitely Middlo. You're getting too cynical. Must have been those changes Wolverhampton were promised but nothing has happened yet.
  7. Yes, he'd be a really good role model, having to nip out of the pits every few minutes for a cigarette.
  8. Thank goodness someone has put Stevebrum right. Middlo has been on here for longer than you Steve. Rick Miller is not really THE Rick Miller though. Afraid that is the normal track at Coventry these days, since Colin Meredith took over. True. Shame the fans didn't have more to get excited about and unfortunately I really can't see Team GB doing much better on Thursday.
  9. Ole Olsen or the usual track curator Colin Meredith. Makes no difference really because you can almost guarantee the track will be slick with hardly any shale and perfect for the Danes. The chances of them making the track more suitable for the racers in the G.B. team like Stead, Nicholls and Harris are virtually nil.
  10. You will be able to get them on the night but don't leave it too late or you may find yourself on the end of a long queue.
  11. Too true. Denmark to win on Monday on an ultra slick track as usual and we might as well give the cup to the Danes now because with the final being in Denmark they're almost guaranteed to be champions. Oh well....there is always next year when the final is being held at Coventry. Great Britain are bound to win then aren't they? .....
  12. Is that the best the Coventry management can do? Belle Vue have now got a pond and a water feature on their centre green.
  13. Received my ticket this morning. I should think any run-off would be the next day (Tuesday) if there is a rain-off, or failing that on Wednesday. I don't know about any refunds - sorry.
  14. Thank you! May the best team (Denmark) win !!!!!!!! ............................(Great Britain)
  15. Full price list if ordering on line. (Cut out the £1.25p if not.) Probably standing only if buying on the night as Grandstand tickets will no doubt be sold out. GRANDSTAND £34.00 £1.25 find seats ------------------------------------------------------------ ADULT STANDING £23.00 £1.25 order (max 10) ------------------------------------------------------------ OAP'S/U15'S STANDING £11.00 £1.25 order (max 10) ------------------------------------------------------------- FAMILY STANDING (2 AD+2 U15) MULTIPLES OF 4 £13.75 £1.25 order (max 10) ------------------------------------------------------------- DISABLED + CARER MULTIPLES OF 2 £15.50 £1.25 sold out ------------------------------------------------------------- HOSPITALITY - INDIAN BUFFET MENU £55.00 £1.25 order (max 10) ------------------------------------------------------------- HOSPITALITY - CARVERY MENU £55.00 £1.25 -------------------------------------------------------------
  16. .....Heaven forbid fans start taking drums! I've heard them at some football matches abroad and all that repetitive drumming would drive me mad. I'm afraid if anyone sat next to me banging a drum they'd soon find it smashed over their head.
  17. Just one more bit of advice, try and get there early because there were big queues for tickets last year.
  18. Yes, but you might not be able to get in the grandstand if it's already full with fans who have already purchased tickets. If you're thinking of standing on the terraces you'll be okay as there is plenty of room at Brandon. More information here that you might want to read. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=42739
  19. Can't blame them really. They've probably got wise to the fact a lot of speedway fans double book rooms and then cancel at the last minute.
  20. What puzzled me was why did Hans Andersen take the white helmet colour in his semi, which had been an awful gate all night, leaving the better yellow one for 4th choice Nicki? He also slung it down on the desk so it rebounded and almost fell on the floor. Conspiracies, conspiracies.
  21. Yes, I've had a reminder about that but as the email address given is not correct you might not be getting many birthday wishes via that site. Oh....and I bought a pack of 4 bottles of Blue WKD at ASDA this morning. I hope I don't get to like it too much 'cos it's expensive.
  22. Hoping Frank.A doesn't see this...but welcome to the forum whiterose.
  23. Yes, best year ever music wise, also nice and LOUD! I can't help but think back to last year when Chris won. The atmosphere then was amazing but what a difference it would have made if the patriotic songs had been played then. The fans would have lifted the roof off.
