COME ON GREAT BRITAIN!!!
Gemini replied to Phil's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You sound like an advert for Sky Bet. I think those adverts are hilarious, but the other half doesn't agree with them. No sense of humour some people. -
well done AJ+ tomaz wot a meeting
Gemini replied to sirmatty's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not a lot else to be said really. Best meeting on Sky for years and some awesome racing. Glad Sweden and Poland went through. Brilliant stuff. Just one moan....that stupid on board camera. I wish it would get smashed up as it is next to useless and whilst we're seeing a bit of shale and a blurred view of someone's backside, we are missing the action on the track. By all means show bits afterwards (if there is anything worth watching) but not while the race is going on. -
Is Kelvin P*****?
Gemini replied to 2ndbendbeerhut's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I don't really think anyone is slating him too badly, just taking the mickey and understandably so as he definitely wasn't his normal self. I don't drink so I don't know how long it takes to sober up, but it seemed damn quick to me even if he'd had a gallon of coffee poured down him. So perhaps your suggestion of medication could be correct, but if so he needs to take it a lot earlier next time! Also if he is then what does he do when he's riding? Wouldn't be allowed surely? His speech seemed to me like that of someone who had suffered a mini-stroke with slurred words and others added in when not needed. And he definitely wanted the interview to end as he turned his head away from the camera after saying "Over to you Keith." Strange. -
Ooooo! I know someone who goes to a couple of the G.P's on her own, who I'm sure would appreciate some feminine company. She was even going to Australia on her tod, (accompanied by Pawprint smuggled in her luggage), but in the end a friend went with her. JOANNE....over to you.

Play offs on Thursday
Gemini replied to Lanzilla's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I reckon you might find it just a tad more crowded than it was last night, unless you are planning on picking your spot a couple of hours before the meeting starts. I'd stick with your seats or someone might nick them. -
Is Kelvin P*****?
Gemini replied to 2ndbendbeerhut's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I tell you what I will be really disappointed if that happens. I tell you what I like Kelvin. I tell you what I hope it's Sir Kelvin, whether he's had a few too many or not. -
Damn! That means I am going to have to watch the whole lot again tomorrow to find out. So this is Monday night, someone talking to a Swedish rider, with a nice bum. Well that narrows it down a bit. Err....Shane Parker? Although personally I've never seen his bum, but I understand he is quite partial to showing it when the occasion arises.
-
I must pay more attention as I missed this. Come on...give us a clue when, or I will have to watch the whole lot over again. Surely not Nicki?
-
Anyone know where these girls are from? Not the usual Eastbourne ones I presume and will they be going across to Poole for a repeat performance? Might have to slip something in Summit's cup of tea if they are.
-
So which rider was that? Daniele, Simone or Andrea?

Who will win the World Cup??
Gemini replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
My choice is.... 1st.. Sweden. 2nd..Denmark 3rd..Britain 4th..Australia. What...that Denmark would win? If you are referring to the girls in the Italian team, unfortunately Andrea, Simone and Daniele looked just a little bit too masculine for him. -
The crowd didn't look too bad to me, especially on Monday. It's understandable that it wasn't as good on Tuesday when there was no GB team there. I'm sure the place will be packed at Poole for the final and a good attendance at the play-off on Thursday as well. I don't want to sound like Steve Shovlar but I don't think you can beat the South Coast for the venues. And did you notice the sun was shining whereas other parts of the country seemed to be having thunderstorms and heavy rain? Spot on picking Eastbourne & Poole I think. Wish I could have been in the area on holiday this week, but we were in Dorset two weeks ago so just missed out.
-
Yes, what indeed? I hope something positive has been sorted out because wasn't that the cause of all the trouble with the American team in 2002(?) when they had tied with another country to go through to the final? My memory is terrible so I can't remember all the details, but I can recall Greg Hancock getting very upset and he is normally pretty laid back. Loved your little story by the way SL.

Who will win the World Cup??
Gemini replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I was a bit worried about the Italian team having so many girls....... Daniele, Simone, Andrea. Still in the end they did very well so congratulations to them. I voted Denmark to win the World Cup on the forum poll, but I hope I'm wrong. -
What was the weather like in your neck of the woods whilst the World Cup was on yesterday? Here in Leicester it was dismal and dull with heavy rain. I switched on the television to watch it with some trepidation, only to find the sun had been shining all day on the South Coast. So all those forum members who were compaining about the World Cup being held at Eastbourne and Poole, what was the weather like in Sheffield or Peterborough? These seemed to be the favourite tracks suggested. Was it hot and sunny like down South? Let's hope it stays the same for Thursday and Saturday.

Team GB for the Final
Gemini replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That's just typical Richardson though isn't it? He is fine if he gates, but often struggles if he doesn't. Trouble is it will be hard to leave him out of the team purely due to the fact that he can gate, unlike one or two of the others and the final will be a lot harder than the qualifying round with all the best teams in it. -
Aren't you just supposed to drive round the block on a test run?
-
Too true! It's not as though Weymouth are in the Elite League or ride on the same night and surely Poole are successful enough to help out a little club rather than cause any problems.
-
Ah! Another name from the past. I don't know what he is doing now but several years ago he was in to Bouncy Castles and came to erect one in my son's garden for my grand-daughter's birthday party. Needless to say we recognised him and the conversation naturally got round to Speedway.

WHOSE GOING TO WHICH PUBS
Gemini replied to sirmatty's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You've not gone and bought Mr Shovlar's spare tickets have you? -
Mmmmm. Okay. But if the fans are getting wet so will the riders and we all know what that means. Track inspections, rider discussions in the pits because they don't want to carry on, delays.......Not good television.
-
Agree with what you've said except for the last bit. It won't be at all funny if these big meetings are affected by rain, or even called off. What good will that do? As a Speedway fan surely you will want everything to be perfect for good racing even if you're only watching at home, like I will be?
-
And I'll second that. Brilliant!

Channel 4 GP Coverage, Sunday 4th July
Gemini replied to Deak77's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nor me. I always used to record these to keep because they were a bit different to the Sky broadcasts, but I don't even bother watching any more after seeing the first one. -
Channel 4 GP Coverage, Sunday 4th July
Gemini replied to Deak77's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm afraid you have missed the Cardiff one because as Nevsy has said it was shown at the unearthly hour of 3.45am on June 23rd. This week's coverage is the Danish G.P. Looks like Channel 4 have just about given up on Speedway as at one time they used to show the highlights at 11am on the Saturday following a G.P. with a repeat during the week. Now they've got rid of the best presenter - Julia Bradbury - and the sport is relegated to either 7am or the middle of the night. Subject to change...... GP3 Wroclaw....Sunday 6th June at 7.30am. GP4 Cardiff....23rd June at 3.45am. GP5 Copenhagen....Sunday 4th July at 7am. GP6 Gothenburg....Sunday 29th August at 7.30am. GP7 Krsko....Sunday 12th September at 7am. GP8 Bydgoszcz....Sunday 26th September at 7.30am. GP9 Hamar....Sunday 10th October at 7.am.
