Keith may be able to help as he seems to be collecting Belle Vue home & away programmes from 1928 on.
From another thread -
I am trying to collect every Belle Vue programme home and away from 1928-present and although I am doing quite well with the pre-war programmes (about 260 so far) ......
If he doesn't see this, I've got his email address if you would like to contact him?
Wow! I didn't realise Speedway had been running that long at Brandon.
Looks like we have scared Rick off and I'm not surprised. Being as there are so many questions being fired at him perhaps he will take up the offer of an interview for the Backtrack magazine. I hope so.
Just one little thought to add. I find it quite amazing that I can remember Don Potter riding for the Lions, considering by the looks of the statistics he only rode in six meetings. I can even remember what he looked like as well, which is some sort of record in itself considering my difficulty recognising faces.
Yes Norbold will know, but until he gets back from holiday I hope this bit of information about him will help as I remember him riding for Leicester in 1954.
This is taken from Alan Jones book - Speedway in Leicester, the Hunters Era.
Don Potter began his career at Fleetwood and then moved onto Liverpool before travelling south to ride for Stoke in 1953 where he became a big scorer for the Potteries club.
Don was on the brink of heat leader status at Leicester until a crash in July sidelined him. He returned to his Blackpool home to recuperate from his injuries and whilst recovering announced his retirement.
Ross...Can confirm that this is indeed THE Rick Miller. (My email has bounced back so I couldn't let you know direct.)
Welcome back Rick, but 4 posts since 2003? Not enough! Please let us all know how you are getting on these days. Are you still doing the film stunt work?
Don't start worrying until June 10th.
I ordered mine on the internet and was told that tickets may not be received until 5-7 days before the event and not to contact them unless they have not arrived 5 days before so plenty of time yet.
tigerdave....This is just the general discussions area and you will probably be better off posting this in the Years Gone By section where all us old cronies hang out. Shame our No. 1 forum historian has just gone on holiday.
Welcome to the forum by the way.
Snap Cornishman! I shouldn't have taken so long typing this.
Mine came today too, thanks.
Could you make sure my address says Braunstone Town though and not Branistone please? (I sent you an email a while ago.)
The mag. has arrived safely so far but I don't want to give the post office any chances of losing it.
I've got an even better idea. Being as everyone is being advised to either start at the bottom and work their way up, the middle up and down, or 2/5ths of the way up and down, why not just start at the top and be different.
Thank you Craig.
Our hearts go out to you at this sad time and I hope it is of some comfort to know that a lot of people are thinking about you all.
Take care.
At least I've learnt a bit about when to use "an" and "a", although even that advice seems contradictory. I blame Kevin for saying it's an hotel.
"We are going to book an hotel for the weekend."
"We are going to book a hotel for the weekend."
Just practising....
