  1. I absolutely hate the idea of animals being killed so humans can eat their bodies, especially the way some of them are killed but there you go that's the human race for you. The majority of problems in the World are caused by them, but I suppose that's a different subject so we'll just have to agree to disagree on Greyhound Racing.
  2. It's not lost on me but I don't consider being stuck in kennels, when not racing, is a good life for a dog. It would be like a dog permanently waiting for a home all its life at the RSPCA. Being as you know many trainers I presume you can confirm their dog lives with them indoors at home, gets taken for a daily walk and are not kept in kennels until their next race? Yeah right. As to the dogs at Swindon not being bred in the first place that sounds like a damn good idea.
  3. Really? Now I wonder what would be best ~ never being born or having to race? Greyhounds are not born that way they are trained by humans with money in mind as usual. No good and they are discarded or sent to China to breed yet more of them, or eaten. They are beautiful laid back dogs until trained differently. It's like saying all Border Collies are born to be working Sheep and live outdoors on a farm. No farms = no Border Collies. Perhaps you should take a look at the link below or look at CAGED Nationwide on Facebook. There are plenty of examples of how cruelly most of them are treated so would have been much better off never having been born. https://metro.co.uk/2020/01/09/dog-breeder-let-three-greyhounds-starve-death-stuffed-one-freezer-12030888/?fbclid=IwAR3uCBdXviz4CnWQz2aIkybsv02v0KX66_RShXm7MC2C5sSGHYf13YNnVo4
  4. Wish there was a 'shocked' emoji to respond to a post. 55 is very young. RIP Roman.
  5. Stupid idea to hold it at Leicester for all the reasons False dawn said earlier. Even if the meeting ran smoothly you'd be hard pushed to walk back to the shopping centre and actually drive your car out of the centre within 4 hours, bearing in mind there will be a massive queue.
  6. I don't think you will get an answer to that.
  7. All this track grading is a pain in the neck and I'm sure most of it is not necessary but just an excuse for someone to enjoy driving a tractor. What they should do is get a job on a farm instead.
  8. Wish that had been the case at Coventry. Horrible fence blocking a good view of Speedway, especially when the sun was shining
  9. Changing my mind now ~ Horse Racing isn't worse than Greyhound Racing. Sadly they are both as bad as each other and of course at the root of it all is humans as usual so they can indulge in betting.
  10. What a lovely story. Thanks for sharing ~ made me smile. I'm feeling down at the moment as I've just had to have our oldest one put to sleep after being on an emotional roller coaster for the past 16 months due to Molly having Congestive Heart Failure. She was 14. Still have Lucy who will be 10 in January and she is well known at Coventry, Peterborough and Leicester Speedway. I know what you mean about Spaniels because I've always thought they are much more manic than Collies. When I was looking for a Collie pup in 2010, after a few weeks I saw an advert for Springer/Collie pups and I thought no thanks I'll wait a bit longer. lol. Lucy is very laid back, always goes to sleep at Speedway and not at all interested in a ball so I'm glad I waited.
  11. I've always had Border Collies and all they are interested in is having a loving home and a walk every day, preferably which involves a ball. If your mum's dogs have never had any problems with Pyometra she has been very lucky as it is common in unspeyed older bitches.
  12. Might be a good idea with some human males. Regarding dogs and cats though are you seriously suggesting they shouldn't be neutered? A cat can have 3 litters a year for probably 15 years so if none of them were neutered either the problem of feral and homeless cats doesn't even bear thinking about. Rescue centres are already over flowing with unwanted animals. I have always had female dogs and they have been speyed at 6 months and I can't say I have ever noticed any psychological effect, whatever that means.
  13. Agree. In fact I think of the two 'sports' Horse Racing is far more cruel than Greyhound Racing. At least the dogs have a choice to run or not, although no doubt killed if they refuse, but Horses don't. The Grand National is definitely not the sort of entertainment I would watch. Never have and never will. I hate it.
  14. Interesting, although I have seen some before on 'On Any Sunday.' Prefer the Speedway style of riding so glad number 5 won.
  15. Missed that. Just checked TV book and it's on every weekday so will have to record it next week. Thanks for the reminder as it looks interesting and I like Bradley Walsh.
  16. Can't stand Pointless. I hate repetition and Alexander Armstrong reads out the long options twice. Why? Just why?! I would probably be interested in Tenable but the blinking clanging noise annoys me too much. I guess I have a low irritability threshold. I am enjoying Richard Osman's House of Games at the moment and will watch Eggheads when it comes back.
  17. For those who don't have Facebook................................SCOTT ENDS LIONS SPELLScott Nicholls will be racing for a new team in 2020 after telling Leicester Lions he couldn't commit to another season.Nicholls had has just captained the East Midlands side to their first league title admits it has been a pleasure to be part of a great club but his TV commitments mean he couldn't race for the Lions being a Saturday night track in the Championship. He added: “Naturally it was a tough call to tell Leicester I wouldn’t be back there next season especially after the season we have just had. It will go down as one of my best achievements in the sport to lead the side to their first league title. “The win was as much for the fans and all the people behind the scenes as it was for the riders. It’s a special club and one that will live long in the memory for me personally. Everyone was welcoming on race nights and the support we got as riders on the terraces really was something else. The Lions fans turned up in numbers at every meeting and it certainly spurred the riders on. “I want to wish everyone the best for 2020 and hopefully they go on and have another good season. My work on the Grand Prix with the BT Sport team is something I want to continue and hopefully be available for every round in 2020. I see it as an important part of my future and if it wasn’t for this I’m sure I would have still been at Leicester next season.
  18. No rumours on potential signings yet but this is how you should treat your sponsors. http://www.leicesterspeedway.com/_mobile/news.php?extend.31567.1‬&fbclid=IwAR0Id9tOlE40LD37y1W4EqXuZFnYd1qvsaCYnoDovwigISfCmZJcdPO7Ebw
  19. Re-apply and see if you get back in quicker than Gustix.
  20. I should think that the thread has been taken off because of the forum guidelines and admin or a mod has finally spotted it. "Linking to Other Sites.......Please do not use the forum to advertise competing message boards or websites. There is a facility to put a link to a website on your profile." Doesn't really matter now though because loads of people have joined and will just pass on the details. Good groups always prosper, although it's a shame it wasn't formed at the beginning of the season rather than towards the end when everything goes a bit quiet.
  21. No wonder a lot of people don't bother posting on here anymore when you just get ridiculed. Perhaps best not to bother replying at all if you're not interested, especially when sentences don't make sense anyway. What's the other yeast? Are we talking about bread now?
  22. Those were the days at Coventry. Regarding Mick Horton not taking up the lease, although Coventry had pretty good crowds I very much doubt if it would be viable to rent the stadium for any length of time just for Speedway, without propping up from Stock Cars like Sandhu had. How things are now Mick probably got out at the right time.
  23. Had a quick look on catch up of last weeks episodes and thought I had cracked it when there was a Jacqui listed on one show. Wizzed through but not the right person so I think Tigerblade is right and they are repeated shows on Challenge or similar that mum was watching.
  24. As far as I am aware Martin and Linda were actually the owners, but hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. The stadium needed so much money spending on it and Martin was unfortunately never as keen on Speedway like his dad was.
  25. I suppose that means I am going to be searching through all The Chase programmes on catch up last week now.
