  1. Id be happy if the rumours prove correct.. done ok for us in the past... better option than taylor poole in my opinion.
  2. Lyager hasn't got an official average yet (one meeting short I believe).. so still a 7?
  3. I'd love to see a large European League, say for example, top 4 British, 4 Polish, 4 Danish, 4 Swedish, all the worlds best riders. Then have one big British League..plus a National League.
  4. Glasgow Edinburgh Plymouth Sheffield Workington Scunthorpe Peterborough Newcastle Rye House Ipswich Berwick Somerset Redcar To be honest.. I see Glasgow topping the league, the rest are so evenly matched its almost impossible to predict. Other than Glasgow, can't see too many teams picking up much away from home.
  5. Team race suits would be cool.. Assuming Hendersons are still backing, how about Blue/White Henderson Insurance Kevlars... Team Sponsored by Fluid Air Power... Seem to recall a road racer once being sponsored by Hendersons, think he wore Henderson adorned leathers?
  6. That is very true.. a risk a buying club would need to consider.
  7. Gazc is right..He is only worth what someone want's to pay basically and if it is acceptable to the selling club. There ain't much money in speedway, we all know that.. I guess even loan fee's are minimal?.. My question is, what would the total cost of 4/5 years loan fee's amount to?..£3-4000 ish? Is that a reasonable amount for a rider of his calibre? That would be about the right amount of cash needed to enable Scunny to replace the air panels Nike bust last year..lol Out of interest, anyone on here know how much loan fee's are these days?
  8. What is a reasonable transfer fee for a rider of Nike Lunna's calibre these days?... Lunna is young, bags of potential, national under 21 champ... An amount equivalent to whatever it would cost a club in loan fees for 4 or 5 years?
  9. Lunna will do well for Glasgow.. young kid, great lad, still learning, will put at least a point on his 4.5 ave.. I wanted him back at Scunny, guess his average didn't quite fit into our team building plans.. Best of luck to him.
  10. I heard he asked to be dropped/replaced, got his wish...then a few weeks later he asked to come back. ?
  11. If the 3 pointer is announced as the rider that I believe we have signed...and I'm fairly confident I know the identity of the rider in question....then I'd be more than happy. He's young, talented, certainly bags of potential and just the sort of rider a fast track system is designed to benefit.
  12. No real surprise .... Welcome back Dougie... No visa issues either, bonus. :-)
  13. The teams been sorted a while...and I reckon most of us have it sussed....just a case of releasing names. I think Wilko will be the next name confirmed.
  14. JPB worth a shot.. rides our track well. Stylish and takes some beating when he gets in front. Is he old enough?
  15. Strangely...for a Scorpion, i'm hoping Sheffield can go all the way. Good Luck to them.
  16. Heat 14... Ref called it white, blue, red over the line.. that's also what I recorded on my sheet as they crossed the line. Therefore, 1st Holder, 2nd Davies, 3rd Wilkinson. Maybe Graham announced it wrong? Incident Recorder.
  17. So Newman lies too.... Cos he blatantly touched the tapes before the tapes caught his helmet... And Davies beat him fair and square, it was close but it was Davies by half a wheel length. They're the facts....
  18. Yawn yawn yawn... You appear to have failed your mission Lewy, take a chill pill and get over it. Rob was faced with a situation with Theo, dealt with it like any good promoter would...he actually went to lengths and explained it pretty well to the crowd too. Best promoter in the business.
  19. I went to the meeting not particularly bothered on the outcome of the match... win and great, always good to see your team win...lose, Ipswich made to suffer, I could've settled for that following what happened earlier in the season. As it turned out, was a fine meeting, very entertaining and a good win for Scunny ... i'll take that, given the antics and sore loser syndrome as witnessed from the Plymouth lot tonight! Good all round effort from Scunny, it was looking all over after 4 heats...then BANG...Have it! :-) Devils crumbled, Devils Lost it, Devils Cried.... That said...still hope Plymouth go to Rye and get the 4 pointer they require. A fine meeting to end a mediocre, injury plagued season (worst in my living memory).... We've seen some fantastic racing this year though, absolutely top drawer...hopefully (fingers crossed) we'll be back for more next year.
  20. Wasn't pretty early doors, so credit to both sides for riding through those tricky conditions, particularly in those earlier heats. As the track dried, the quality of racing did improve greatly. Garrity and Bellego certainly provided the entertainment for the visitors...whilst all the Scunny boys all rode pretty well, I guess the contribution by the experienced pair of Lanham and Pijper was worthy of added praise. I thought after Tigers 5-1 in heat 12 that they would most likely go on and win it...but fair play to the Scorpions, they came good just when we needed them to. The MLRC was ridden in far better conditions... thoroughly enjoyable meeting, those kids were a credit to the MDL. Congratulations to Jack Parkinson Blackburn on his hard earned win.
  21. That was no EWR classic..but one or two insane races made it an enjoyable meeting nonetheless. Alex Davies was the standout Scorpion, fantastic performance from him. Andreas Lyager stormed to victory on his first ever race on Scunny shale....he impressed, looks more than a decent prospect. For Berwick, Jorgensen scored well, as one would expect on his 'home' track.... but perhaps rider of the meeting was Ryan Fisher, blistering form tonight, certainly mastered the bend two slingshot! Heat 8 is definitely worthy of a mention... incredible race, how many passes?...I lost count...take a bow messers Pijper, Lunna, Garcia & Hall that was worth the admission money alone.
  22. Scunthorpe is a relatively small town, it's been through the mill several times... Lack of major investment and jobs throughout the years, people simply haven't got the money....unless you're one of the few steelworkers left employed in the town. Shame to say it as its my home town, but Scunthorpe is a fairly deprived northern outpost. Recent years has however seen the population swell. It's quite a multicultural town thesedays, thousands upon thousands, mainly Eastern Europeans descended upon us....but try as we might, they ain't interested in speedway. It's not just speedway that struggles for crowds, you've only got to look at the football team...huge investment inplace at the moment, new stadium about to be built, plenty money spent on the team, 1st division club...crowds struggling around the 4000 mark. There is no doubt in my mind the racing at Scunny is as good as you'll find anywhere in this county, it would be a travesty if it is lost to the sport. Scunthorpe speedway has many advantages that other clubs don't enjoy ie, training schools, practices, amateur scene, no curfew, it owns the bar, the cafe...and the land is leased off the council, it's not being fleeced by eg, a greyhound company. Factor in the revenue from those and then compare that to other clubs expenditures, I'm sure there's likely to be other clubs with similar financial worries. Perhaps given Scunnys incoming revenues, a lower attendance level can be tolerated...trouble is we've probably dipped below what the promotion now consider a tolerable level. It's hard to attract new supporters, but we are trying and we'll keep on trying to the end. We are seeing a few new supporters coming in, people are always introducing newbies....we need to look after these and hope they too can spread the word. The promotion are also trying, the product is brilliant, it deserves to be better supported.
  23. Tough week injury wise .. I found it particularly hard to get enthused for tonights meeting, didn't think we'd stand much chance without Ryan (btw, get well soon buddy)....But...To the Scorpions credit, they did the business. Lots to be pleased about...certainly lifted a bit of doom n gloom. Pijper, probably put in his best performance for Scunny..Alex Davies in fine form, chipped in with a few wins.. Wilko very impressive..Lunna did more than ok.. Special mentions for guest Josh Bates and new signing Zdenek Holub.. Josh 110% effort, that pass on Lindgren was pure class, this kid has come on brilliantly in the last year or so. Holub, looks like a real find, great effort for his first time round Scunny... much more to come hopefully. Newcastle, Lindgren apart, were pretty mediocre tonight... Perhaps understandably given they were also missing Lewis Kerr (wishing him all the best)....Great to see Tero, not only get up from that horrendous crash but to come out and win heat 14.. heroic.
