  1. Great meeting today.. Scorpions just edging another EWR cracker. Somerset impressed with Aspgren and the Kurtz brothers..but the day truly belonged to Scunnies Ryan Douglas, twas an epic performance from the young aussie. Was also good shows from David Howe and Ash Birks, fantastic match winning rides by Ash in heats 14 & 15.
  2. Well Done Scunny... Never saw that win on the cards.
  3. Surprised it wasn't n all 4 back decision, it just seemed like a typical bend one collision to me, certainly nothing that could be described as wreckless... Shame there's no video crew at Scunny to prove one way or the other. However, there 's no excuse for Halls reaction, it was bang out of order, it'll be interesting to see how the authorities deal with him. As for the meeting, there was some really good racing. Redcar ran out deserved winners, bit more ruthless than Scunny out the gate. For Scunny, we can take heart out of the return of Ryan Douglas, a bright spot in what's been a disappointing, injury hit start to the campaign.
  4. That's something then, a step in the right direction :-) ... shame it doesn't apply to all levels though.
  5. Poor night for The Scorpions, didn't see that result coming to be honest. Big improvement required. Well done Redcar, sounds like your 1-7 all rode extremely well and took advantage of Scunnies misfortune. I know it wouldn't of made much difference to the score tonight... but why oh why, for the good of speedway.... why can't the R/R rule be utilised when a No1 gets injured in his first ride?. Expecting the reserves to carry a No1 is a big ask. It gets talked about a lot but has the rule ever been considered by the powers that be?
  6. Tigers the deserved winners on the day. Their more experienced riders came up trumps with some good gating and cute battles round turns 1 and 2. Sheffield looking good, especially with Compton filling a reserve berth, Scunny got Ryan Douglas to come... plenty reasons for both teams to be excited about this coming season.
  7. Maybe its Scunnies ability to bring the young kids on that attracts Poole. The thriving amateur scene and practice sessions provide more opportunities for rider progression than at most tracks. I guess Scunthorpe offers a better proposition in that respect. Maybe the concept of this arrangement will inspire another Elite League outfit to form some alliance with IOW and maybe save speedway at that venue.
  8. And Sheffield is our other double fixture.
  9. I'm sure the majority of scunny fans love it when Sheffield fail... like spinny says its rivalry, sure Sheffield fans feel the same about us.... I'm also pretty sure that no fan of either team is that small minded that they would want a rival team to close down.
  10. Good meeting last night... can't really add to what others have already said about Jensen and Bech, Plymouth got a good pair there. Todd Kurtz impressed too. Great overall performance from Scunny though, particularly impressive show from Nicolai Klindt...and young Ryan Douglas, he's riding superbly at the minute. Best wishes to Kalle Katajisto, hope he heals quickly from his injuries. As for David Howe, sincerely hope we've not seen the last of him, quality rider, great bloke...going through a rough time with injuries at the moment, bit of time out won't do him any harm. When he gets back on it, i've no doubt, he's got the enthusiasm and will power to get back to his best.
  11. Disappointing result for the Scoprions. Like previous posters have said, you couldn't fault Auty, Birks and Doolan for effort, the rest were pretty woeful. Despite some excellent racing, the nature of this defeat does little to lift the doom and gloom that hovers over our club at the moment. Well done to Redcar, each rider contributed well....you caught the champs in chump mode. Talking of chumps....just hope the bspa mc make better decisions next time Rob wishes to make changes....
  12. Scunny were well on top, built up a good lead, but as the meeting wore on (and as the track dried and wore out), the Monarchs started gating and adapted to the condtions better. Edinburgh derserved their point. Not the best of meetings... Fantastic show from Craig Cook though, was a class apart.
  13. Sadly, Scunny don't have a regular filming crew...didn't see any camera's last night, great shame cos it was good meeting.
  14. Quality meeting...a draw probably a fair outcome. If the next home meeting is half as entertaining then the sky viewers are in for a treat.
  15. From what previous posters have written it appears that there was very little effort made to save the meeting? ......if the rain had stopped and the sun was out...could they not have delayed the start for 30 mins?
  16. I don't really know what to make of it.... Part of me thinks, fantastic signing. Its good that Scunny are prepared to give a young brit the opportunity to fastrack his development. Hopefully it will prove a great move by the club and rider, especially IF he becomes a club asset. I've seen plenty of Josh around Scunny to realise the kids got genuine talent, good people around him and also a huge appetite to practice (and with the EWR at his disposal, no better opportunity to do just that)...all the ingredients are there for him to give it a good go, good luck to the lad. Slight worry that Scunny will start the season appearing a tad weakened at reserve... but i do believe that given time and bags of practice the reserve duo will come good.
  17. I'd be happy if Tom Young starts the season, see how he goes.. Charles Wright wouldn't be a bad alternative.
  18. I've read comments on the Scunny forum, Rob Godfrey claims he enquired about Stefan but couldn't agree terms. Maybe Ipswich did the same?
  19. Good luck to Tom...He's a good lad, on the up, should do well for Lynn.
  20. Robs answered some of the questions.. http://scunthorperac...splay&thread=83 We've been here before..Scunny can give riders free use of the track..practice sessions, amateur meets, second halfs etc... develop them the correct way. In Max and Olivers case, they're both 'on the up' solid NL standard riders with great potential. I can understand riders wanting to ride for their local track, no problem with that...but to throw these development opportunities away (particularly at their current stage of development), to me smacks of bad timing and disrespect....they were on a good progression course, why ruin it? I only hope for their sake they get similar opportunities elsewhere and that they can still progress at the rate they were doing. Scunny have a proud record of bringing young brits up to premier league level and beyond...these two lads were on course to achieve just that. I'll watch with interest to see how these two get on now. Others riders have taken a similar route and not done too bad (Howarth and Ashley Morris spring to mind)...possibly they'd be much better riders had they stayed at Scunny another season, that we'll never know ? But these are difficult times... if riders get offered the money, they gotta consider it. Sadly Loyalty is the loser. Speedway is also going through difficult times, promoters, management, riders and fans need to work together to get us out of this mess....sadly it seems that certain agents/promoters are still going behind backs, tapping up, whilst destroying the time and effort other clubs have put into a riders development. Sad....Its also sad (but understandable) why Scunny feel the need to pull the plug on NL next season.
  21. Happy with the team...big welcome back to the 2012 Scorps...and a massive welcome to Ryan Douglas, looks like a great prospect, good luck to the lad.
  22. Well Done Scunny...Fantastic effort all season. Chuffed to bits for all involved. Commisserations to Somerset, that was one hell of a battle you put up. I've read alot of adverse comments with reference to Richard Hall, what I will say...He threw everything at Morris and Auty in heat 15, was up with them, made several attempted passes, very nearly got the Rebels the point they required....he would be a Somerset hero if it wasnt for some desparate scunny team riding. And finally...the Rebels supporters that were in attendance....class act... friendly banter as it should be. Well done.
  23. Happy with Bunyan, done us a good job guesting a few weeks back...won alot of friends amongst us scunny fans. As for Somerset...Jason Doyle is such a great rider, finding a guest to match his calibre is damn near impossible. You've mentioned Fisher and Robson...both go well round Scunny, Richard Hall...when he's on it...and i've said it before, theres no better sight in british speedway than seeing Hally blast round turns 3/4 at scunny...that said, his scores can be somewhat inconsistent. Good luck to whoever guests, hope they put on a good show. Todays been a right disappointment....weatherwise, this morning was fine ...was well looking forward to the speedway. Rain started lightly around lunch and steadily got heavier and more prolonged. Us scunny fans were as disappointed as anyone with the postponement...but gotta feel really sorry for the Rebels fans that had made the long trip.... (bet Rob Godfrey was too, thats a fair bit of revenue thats likely lost!). A good number of visiting supporters aways adds to the atmosphere, shame that many of those won't return tomorrow. Just hope the weather behaves itself tomorrow and we get this one done and dusted. Obviously would prefer the Scorpions to do the business...but lets just hope for a good clean meeting and no injuries... Advance congradulations to whoever comes out winners.
