  1. Lots of questions marks..… Much will depend on how the new Aussies perform, how well the upcoming national league lads adapt and whether last years injured riders return to their previous best.... and IF you can have an injury free season. All those questions apply to my team Scunny, but I see every team having its own set of worries and expectations. Struggling to make any kind of prediction, however, I do like the look of Somerset, with perhaps Sheffield, Eastbourne and Leicester making up the top four. As previous posters have said, I don't think there is out and out favourite this year, this makes next season wide open, exciting and one I look forward to.
  2. Rumour also had him down as No1 for Birmingham.. Whoever, good luck to him, hope he can back to the level he was at before the last injury.
  3. You're assuming Steve wanted to come back... maybe he didnt.. or perhaps he did but got a better offer elsewhere.
  4. Nah, although I reckon Job Godfrey is
  5. Josh Auty Jake Allen Jason Garrity Josh Pickering Jedd List Josh Bailey Jack Thomas Possible, the way things are going... should be about 38 pts.
  6. Well done Worky, thoroughly deserved... too strong for us Scorpions last night. Hope you win all your finals.
  7. Great entertainment... as said by HT, some cracking racing... This on a well prepared, if a little slicker than normal ewr. Jensen again showing his liking to the track, he's been quite outstanding on his visits this year. Mason Campton too was easily Comets second best rider, that heat 12 win was pretty special, what a great race. The other Comets were on the pace but generally got beat up on first two turns. For Scunny, the combo of Garrity and Allen were superb... 5-1's in each of their three rides together. Decent guest in Wells, who along with Nielsen, Worrall and Manzares all put good solid scores on the board. Danny Phillips, to his credit, tried hard with no reward. So 18 point lead... still all to play for.
  8. What was most annoying about that meeting was that after all the efforts to return the track back a decent condition, it was the actions of a few riders... namely Palm Toft (Scun) and Ostergaard (Peterboro) that put an end to the meeting. Rider power at its best.. my biggest gripe about the sport.
  9. It was interesting to see how track conditions affected the racing line tonight... in all my years watching speedway at the EWR, I don't think I've ever seen riders almost having to kiss the air fence in order to find the dirt.... not the norm... but nonetheless, created some courageous, spectacular speedway.
  10. Other than the efforts of Aarnio and to a lesser extent Lambert... woeful performance from Peterborough. Great show from Scunnys top six... only last places were Danny Phillips three rides...and to be fair to Danny, he actually looked like he was trying at times. Jake Allen was immense, revelled in the conditions. Half way in the tie, but fancy Scunnys chances of reaching the final now.
  11. Shyte meeting to be fair... Scunny not firing, pretty woeful at times... Drab affair, barring the last heat....Workington perhaps deserved to win but no doubt they'll take the draw, should be enough to win through.
  12. According to the bspa list... Workington replaced BWD at some point.
  13. I agree.. In our case, it wasn't so much the injuries that stalled us... under performing reserves caused the damage, perhaps if those reserve riders had been replaced a few months back, we may have reached the play offs.
  14. Considering all Scunnys injury problems this year.. Danny is the only change that we've made... We could of made plenty more but Rob has stood loyal to his injured riders. Good on Lakeside, they're the only team not to make a change this year... whilst the others are...Sheffield (6), Edinburgh, Ipswich (5), Redcar (4), Glasgow (3), Peterborough (2), Berwick, Newcastle and Workington (1)
  15. And then factor in fixture clashes.. not much left to pick from. Not sure on eligibility but can see someone like Ryan Kinsley, Nathan Stoneman or Jordan Jenkins (if old enough).. maybe Connor Coles, although I think he may have too many fixture clashes. Sadly the change needed to be made, Danny's confidence was clearly taking a knock...whilst putting extra pressure on Gino to perform.. whoever gets the nod, he isn't likely to be any better than Danny. Good luck to whoever gets the opportunity.
  16. Early doors it looked odds on Scunny reserves were gonna cost dearly again... However, how important was that 3rd place for Gino in heat 14! The lads got it in him, just needs luck on his side. Great comeback by The Scorpions.... tonight proved how we much we missed Josh and Jake, they were both awesome match winners tonight. It was a night of truly great entertaining racing....to be fair, it usually is whenever Sheffield visit. A neutral would of loved that... Sheffield may be a little disappointed to lose at the death... but wow... what a heat 15, speedway doesn't get much better. Hats of to both teams for putting on a great show.
  17. What a downer.. that's ruined things.... I missed the last meeting due to holidays... was so looking looking forward to this one.... not any more.
  18. Superb win... well done Scorpions. Didn't expect 4 big points from Owlerton but we'll take em.
  19. Your very lucky if you miss these thunderstorms... Torrential downpours for the past two hours in Scunny… No way would we have got a meeting on tonight.
  20. The meeting itself wasn't the best... Great 500 Final though, great advertisement for youth speedway. Less of an advertisement was young kids getting lapped.. surely these kids ought to be of a standard before putting them in such a meeting.
  21. Cracking meeting. Scunny just shading a tight battle. Speedway isn't always the best spectacle in blisteringly hot weather, however, this meeting proved that theory wrong. The inevitable dust didn't spoil the proceedings too much. After a bit of a slow start, the meeting simply got better and better. Heat 15 was something special, Auty, Garrity and Harris giving it their all... True Grit! Cookie was awesome after his first outing.. was wondering if his exploits in Cardiff had taken its toll but thankfully that wasn't the case. The Bomber and Cookie partnership looks like it will crucial to Glasgows push for the play-offs. Being able to pair them in three heats is frightening for the rest of us. They team rode brilliantly today (albeit ht15...but that was special race). Glasgow guys were consistently fast out the gate, The Scorpions had to dig deep to achieve the win. Some of starts were a tad questionable though imho. For the Scorpions, a great guest performance from Josh Pickering.. Stevie Worrall continues his comeback trail, a few more meetings and he'll be right back in the groove... Garrity and Auty put in solid performances... but the match winning performance for me was Gino Manzares. Looking a bit out of sorts in recent weeks, his first three rides only produced a solitary point but then crucial second places in heat 12 and 14 proved so important... Onwards and upwards Gino. The second half British Youth Championship deserves a mention too... those that stayed to the end would have witnessed a fantastic Youth 500 Final... Take a bow the Thompson Twins and Leon Flint.. Superb race to end the day. Dan Thompson getting the verdict from the fast charging Flint... Could've thrown a blanket over all three of them, great stuff.
  22. Gino's form of late has been poor for numerous reasons, injuries and mechanical issues being the main ones... but Gino has proved he has the ability to score well and be a top reserve in this league. Hopefully he can get his problems solved and can soon get amongst the points again....the kid just needs a change of luck.
  23. Comfortable home win.. Fantastic meeting for Josh Auty, well deserved paid maximum, he had to work hard for it... Great back up from Guest riders Schlein and Summers, particularly Schlein who again showed his liking for the EWR. Josh Pickering and Joel Andersson impressed most for the visitors. Rcky Wells not quite up to his usual standard... Edinburgh pushed hard but never really troubled the home team. Not a classic by Scunny standards...but some hard fought racing on a blisteringly hot day... and all done in hour n half.
  24. It was hardly a deliberate fall though... no real case to put Lawson off 15m.
  25. Danny was brought in at the start of the season with no expectations heaped upon him... All that was asked was for him to go out and do his best... Which he is,... Probably trying too much to be fair, which accounts for the odd tumble now and again. You can see him putting the effort in, effort that isnt always reflected in his scores. There's few out there that could do a better job on his average...so give the lad a break...Show him support and encouragement instead of putting extra pressure on the poor kid. We've shown loyalty to Stevie, Stefan and Gino during hard times ... Danny deserves the same. Keep faith, fingers crossed, our injury problems should start to ease soon and we can kick on again.
