Scorpions gifted that one away... fair play to Lakeside, took advantage of our misfortune and costly mistakes. Disappointing home loss again, we need our injured back asap before its too late. After a few dodgy opening heats the racing improved and turned into a quite entertaining meeting, some great racing, just a shame from a Scunny point of view that we lost.... only got ourselves to blame though! Well done Lakeside.

I think Flappy meant at what cost to us for not making permanent replacements... Up to last night, i'd say probably minimal... Making use of the guest facility is always gonna be a gamble, sometimes it works...but last night they were pants, didn't amass anywhere near the points our lads would've scored. That said, I'm pleased we're sticking loyal to our injured riders, hopefully they'll be back before too long and we can kick on again. Short term pain for long term gain.

Some glum looking home fans leaving the EWR tonight... Whilst a decent contingent of Peterboro fans left with beaming smiles on their faces. Peterboro well deserved winners... no arguments from me on that score... and wow, what a match winning performance from Tom Bacon, didn't see that one coming! Big well done to him. Good meeting also for Palm Toft. Disappointing to lose... However the racing was again top notch and provided some great entertainment, despite the track being rather slick and dry. The track conditions probably played into Peterboros hands a little, i'd of put plenty dirt down and plenty of water on, we know certain Peterboro riders don't like a wet ERW!... Maybe it was prepared with tomorrows big dirt bike meeting in mind? In the end, Scunnys injury woes bit them on the bum. Scunnys two guest facilities didn't work out, poor show from Schlein and a rather inept performance from Stewart did a lot of the damage... a poor return from the rider replacement rides didn't help our cause either. Hope I don't come across as making excuses, i'm not, we were simply beaten by a better team tonight. Hope our injured riders get back to the tapes soon so we can kickstart our season again.

Decent meeting... Score line flattered Scunny a little. Newcastle were good value and in Tero Aarnio, they were desperately unlucky not to claim what would of been a deserved point for their efforts. The track got better as the meeting progressed... the outside line didn't seem to work too well for the first half of the meeting, but that didn't effect the quality of racing. Jake Allen impressed for The Scorpions, whilst Auty, Garrity and Howarth provided good back up. For Newcastle, praise goes to Tero Aarnio for another impressive EWR performance. Robbo, Kus and Morris all played their part... Lindgren, seen him have good meetings round Scunny but lately he doesn't seem on it. Expected more from Wilko too, proving Scunny were right to ditch him last season.

Any news on Scunnys team? No Worrall, No Neilsen, Manzares a major doubt... Has Garrity recovered?.... Meeting is tomorrow, would've thought some news would filter through.

Major Blow for Stef and The Scorpions... was flying at The EWR this year. Wishing him a speedy recovery

Howarth guesting for Stevie would be good.... latest averages would suggest Josh, Jake and Gino (x2) could cover Stefans R/R rides if needed, that's not such a bad situation.

In the end, a comfortable victory for Scunny... but at what cost? Hopefully Gino ain't too badly hurt, hoping for good news and wishing him all the best. Bit of a bruising encounter... First Auty/Lunna.... then Lunna (again)/Manzares.. and Danny Phillips x3 ...all in the wars. The meeting seemed to drag, but that's speedway, can't be helped when these incidents occur. Withdrawals from Manzares (Coccyx injury?) and Lunna (Don't know of injury, but poor lad probably had no bikes left) ..Hope all injured parties heal soon. As for the racing.. After the first few processional heats the quality improved no end.. There was four or five real quality heats and some very hard fought racing. Scunny deserved winners, despite another fantastic effort from Tero Aarnio. Expected a bit more from Proctor and Klindt. Just a little mention for Danny Phillips... Tried too hard tonight and paid the cost, can't fault the lad for effort.. a little more patience and one day it'll just click... stick in there Danny... there's a good score coming.

Yep. According to Scunny website.. Klindt, Bewley and BWD were gonna be missing on Saturday.

Come on you Peterboro ... Although, sadly, I still think the Tiggers will make it through. Bring em on.

R/R got 11 from 12 tonight... it seems to be working for us... I wouldn't be against using that option next week, gives our lads an extra ride and chance to earn a tad more. You never know what you're gonna get from a guest.

Job done... Scorpions progress. Entertaining, but hardly a classic EWR meeting, track far too slick tonight, favoured gating and hugging the white line.. Scunny made to work for it, thanks to a brilliant effort from Tero Aarnio (and lets say a somewhat baffling decision from the referee!) ... Aarnio, real star of the show (never rode like that for Scunny!). ... Rest of the Diamonds showed glimpses but made little impact. ... Garrity had an off night, outside line not working for him tonight. ... Auty, Allen, Nielsen and Manzares all return solid double figure scores. ... Manzares, how the hell did he get disqualified from heat 4. Morris on one wheel, heading to the fence completely wiped him out! ... Scorpions progress.. I guess Sheffield will get best 2nd place?

Scorpions outstanding... Redcar chasing shadows. Wasn't all from the gate though, Scunny lads had to pick off their opponents. Great viewing for us Scunny fans, demoralising for Redcars. Rob dodged a bullet with Stewart!

Garrity can do his own team (Scunny) a favour by having an off day Only in speedway do you borrow a rider from a rival who also compete in the same Shield Group... No doubt Scunny will likely do the same at some point, borrow Howarth to guest for Stevie Worrall.

I echo those sentiments... fantastic meeting, best I've seen in many a year. Credit to both teams, awesome entertainment. I wasn't at Sheffield last night, but that sounded a cracker too... Scunny on the end of a little bad luck, on another day they'd of collected the bonus point.. likewise tonight, perhaps Sheffield suffered from a similar fate.. if it wasn't for Howarths fall, Sheffield maybe go home with a bonus point.

That was the plan... until the meeting got postponed. £2 a ticket would've brought in £80.. pay out £55, Steve would've got £25.. Although many of us had pledged to donate any winnings had we won... so could've been much more.

Gutted for both Scunny and Belle Vue... Devastated for Stevie... Wishing him all the best for a fast and successful recovery.

He was having a great tussle with Jonas B Andersen.. Stevie had come from last to first.... then to second.. then back into first... then Jonas clipped him on bend 2 lap 4, that straightened Stevie up and he ended up going head on into the air fence. Nasty crash.. pure racing incident. Jonas was disqualified as primary cause, perhaps somewhat unfortunately. Just very hard racing from both lads.

Great performance from Scunny... we look like a team this year. Gonna miss Stevie Worrall if initial reports are true.. wishing him all the best for a speedy recovery. That was some race he was having until the crash.

really Dan....! Hardly average... Howarths a great number one, I would love him at Scunny...(Although i'm more than happy with Stevie W ). Bates will get better.. Wright seems to improve year on year... Bjerre and Kurtz probably won't improve their averages but wouldn't be surprised if they do. Couple of reserves that can only improve as the season goes on... Sheffield will be amongst the top 4... Reckon Scunny will match them though.

Also at last nights function... press and practice was hastily arranged for this coming Friday night (16th).... Think Rob said from 5pm onwards. Slight confusion over track availability but I assume its going ahead.

Forgot about that one IronS Wish i'd of asked Rob to clarify the new rule regarding Tactical Subs... How many times can it be used? twice?

Pleased Danny's got the ride, no pressure on him, just get out there and do his best... it's all we ask. All looking good so far... Scorpions fans got reason to be optimistic for the season ahead. Great night at the 'meet the riders'.. thanks to Rob and Duffyscouse for putting the night on. Some great banter from the lads... the interaction from the audience was good and constructive... all in all, a good night, well attended. raised a bit of cash... bodes well. Also interesting to hear of some rule changes coming in this season... 1. Refs to be more relaxed about starts... 2. When a race is stopped after 2 laps and a team is in a comfortable 5-1 at the time, the rider in 3rd place will go off 15m in the rerun.. 3. Top five scorers now eligible for heat 15.
