As someone becoming increasingly bored of the team situation at Scunny... and someone getting used to life in the covid era... any inclusion of James Sargeant would be the end of my involvement in the sport.... I need my interest igniting, unless things change I fear im done with the sport.
-
We all know you Dan.... Scunny through n through, you'll never desert the Scorpions. Was you p****d when you wrote that lol. Feel for Rob having to find a replacement for Jake... hope he can pull something out the bag.
-
Whatever team we end up with... i'm anticipating a change or two to our original line up... we might get smashed at Poole... but Plymouth... if that happens we must be crap...
-
I know making several changes isn't likely to happen, difficult task given the limited rider availability! If the season gets underway, which is far from a given..it shouldn't be a case of just having speedway back. We need to reinvigorate interest, if we put a team out simply to make numbers up, that's my interest gone and probably forever.
-
As if that would ever happen... Tai could've done so much for Scunthorpe Speedway since winning his first world championship.. he's done nothin. As for the Scorpions 2021... since Jakes announcement, reckon we need a major rebuild ... I think we need 3 new riders not just a replacement for Jake... I'd sooner us withdraw from the league than be just a number.

Any idea of Theo's average?
-
Hardly inspiring....I did hear whispers of it being a short term deal, however no mention of that in the press release....so maybe not.
-
Devastating news..... RIP Danny
-
Maybe it time to get speedway pumped into betting shops...

Rumours are rife at this time of year... only time will tell if this has any truth to it...
-
Have heard a strong rumour that Jake Allen is lined up for The Tigers
-
If this is the scenario...Plymouth in and Newcastle out.... would that then mean Plymouth replacing Leicester in the southern region?....Leicester go into the northern group? ...don't think they'd be too happy about that!
-
Again, he puts 'what's in the best interest for british speedway' before the best interests of his club .
-
Agree, its a great idea.... not sure how it can be described as 'regional' though... Seems a tad harsh on Scunny, no local derbies, just lots of travelling to the most northern of outposts.

Scott Anderson? -
I think the only 'surprise' will be IF the team isn't announced as the one widely named on this thread.

Will miss the derby matches..., not as much as Rob will miss the revenue the Sheffield supporters used to bring lol. Used to love going and supporting the Tigers in the 70/80's, Scunny on a Monday, Sheffield on the Thursday... Its not been the same since we've been in direct competition with each other. Hopefully Sheffield will share one or two Scunny riders, might tempt me to make the occasional trip over. Good luck to them, hope it all works out.

I think 50 minutes to complete a meeting is virtually impossible...it certainly wouldn't be achievable on a regular basis. Referees control the pace of a meeting. If the weather threatens and there's good will from all parties, no falls or restarts, then 50 minutes may just about be possible. Scunny have completed meetings in 75 minutes on a few occasions, however about hour and half-two hours is the norm, about right in my opinion.

From a Scunny fan, the team was hit and miss, probably performed as most predicted pre-season. The on track entertainment was excellent... however I echo everyone else's comments, the season was far too short, too many blank weekends, supporters just tend to lose a bit of interest. I'd like to see every track host a meaningful 4TT. Plus a round of a Championship GP style meeting....and a few more league meetings wouldn't go amiss.

Scorpions v Leicester 30.08.2019
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair play to Leicester, fully deserving of their win... Scunny just not at the races tonight. We were up against it from the off... the odd harsh decision against us but overall no complaints, beaten by the better side. Not a classic but some great races nonetheless. Really impressed by Ellis Perks display, deserved heat 15, shame it spoilt what would've been a fine paid maximum though. -
Scorpions v Newcastle 23/08/2019 League
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That's true.. The refs scores correlated with mine, so not sure how the BSPA site have it wrong.. We had, Worrall 9+3 (6), Ostergaard 11+1 (5), Bjerre 5+1 (4), Wethers 4 (4), TJ 5, Clegg 3+1 (4), Phillips 1 (3)... -
Scorpions v Newcastle 23/08/2019 League
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not a comfortable win but a win nonetheless... well done the Scorps and well done Newcastle for making such an excellent meeting. After the 5-1 reversal in heat one I thought we could be in for a hiding.. but fair play the lads...and particularly Josh Auty, a superb paid max display led the boys to a great home win. -
Irreplaceable in many ways.... RR not a good option....and who's out there that could ever replace our Mr Entertainment? .. This is the worst news for Scunny... Get well soon Danny, heal soon matey.

Scorpions v Birmingham 09.08.19
Albert replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair play Brummies… Rode a decent meeting, congrats on the draw. Scunny only themselves to blame.. should've won by a canter but simply gifted too many points away.
