  1. sounds as if Mr Berry has read my book and thought "i like that kid's style, i think i'll have to write my own memoirs!" as i said elsewhere, i'll prob buy it to see what the competition for the Christmas no.1 slot is like PS there's loads of humour in my book too - hope he hasnt gone down that line as well - wouldnt want them to be too similar now, would we?
  2. Gary Gugelielmi? i remember seeing him years ago at Powderhall. after the meeting, i strolled up to him in the pits and said "excuse me mister, how do you pronounce your name?" he just looked at me and replied "Gary" as for the underage guy, it was defo Neil - there was a story about it in one of those glossy A4 books, either Inside Line or ShaleTrail 2. i remember Inside Line having a cool 2 page spread about Jamie Luckhurst, thats the only reason i bought it! was a good read though
  3. hm, quite interesting - i didnt know about the David Norris thing - cheers VV! cheers to the rest of you for your info - much appreciated
  4. calling all Wimbledon fans (or, well, anyone actually!)... years ago (early 80's i think), there was a junior called Jay Pleece. i'm pretty sure it was Wimbledon he rode for cos i followed Jamie Luckhurst's scores quite a bit! anyway, if anyone knows where he is now, etc, i'd be very grateful. thanks in advance!
  5. equally famous? when did i ever become World Speedway Champion? thanks for the plug all the same
  6. something ive never quite been able to work out but... in a TS ride, the pts (and the ride!) get ignored for the guy who has started on the handicap. however, his partner still gets awarded a bonus pt (included in his average too!) if he finishes behind him. how can you get a bonus pt for finishing behind someone who wasnt supposedly even there in the first place??
  7. when i was a wee boy, i got the chance to go out onto the centre green at Powderhall and present a cheque (or whatever was in the envelope!) to the winner of the 2nd half final. although i was a Monarchs' fan, i secretly wanted Denzil to win cos i thought he was superb - i'm pleased to say my wish was granted as he romped home - ive still got the photo on the house
  8. hi Addy! ive posted quite a few times since Cardiff - youve obviously just been looking in the wrong places
  9. Alan Hartley was an accountant who, i believe, tried to hide his 'other job' from his main employers. he still floats around in second halves on his vintage machine and ive even had the privilege of meeting him (although i'm not famous enough to get an introduction!) also, a while back (Powderhall days), i seem to remember Mike Lewthwaite going under a false name in some Scottish Junior meeting (or whatever it was!). someone more knowledgeable than me will tell you what his 'new handle' was.
