  1. Bit of a novelty having speedway in Glasgow at a weekend. Too many variables to make a prediction other than Wells to have at least one tapes offence and Clegg to get his three rides away early. Lindgren was awful on his last visit with NCL and cant see him being as bad again. Pickering looks far better than earlier in the season though Clegg on the road balances him out. Riss E is another who you dont know what he will bring. Tonights meeting with PB will also determine what mood the 0131 riders arrive with. Hopefully Perry is fully fit after being out last week. Home win.
  2. Riding against his mates, its not going to end well for PB.
  3. He should be so lucky, he gets sea sick beyond Dover.
  4. Speedway in its current form will have to collapse for the vested interests of the current crop of promoters to realise that finally the game is up. Only then will a sports entrepreneur look at taking on speedway and making a go of it, a bit like ice hockey did in 2010. A new owner/entrepreneur would have to be just that, where clubs apply to be in its league and are governed by its management rules not just now where its an administration where every man and his dog has their fingers in the pie and can exert influence. Having one point of management makes it much easier to attract a league sponsor. We also need to lose the term 'promoter', a grossly outdated term that largely means nothing other than team owner.
  5. Makes a huge difference to have a free scoring reserve. We need to get more from this department. Its all very well Jack Smith scoring points at Belle Vue on what is an easy track to ride but watching him on Thursday night trail in at least quarter of a lap behind the rest on a more technical track and you know he has a long way to go. If Perry has an off night or injured the last places start to rack up leaving the 1-5 to somehow make up the points.
  6. They'll rarely have an easier night. Other than Bacon getting second in ht2 the Glasgow reserves never got another point from their combined 7 rides.
  7. Drove 8 hours to watch this pish. Expected a bit of fight, only Richie and to a lesser extent Lunna showed it. Cant do anything with 3 ineffective riders. Bewley had speed but never gated all night until waking up in ht14 when all over. King and Heeps were good, there was no Sedgmen bounce back though Mountain looked ok. Or was it our reserves who made it that way.
  8. Lawson and Summers painfully slow all night and cruelly exposed in ht13. Tigers no reserve presence. Tbf hard crash in ht1 when Newman bounced him out. He was fuming at Newman.
  9. Knowing the EU they would probably be entitled to a job for life, full access to healthcare and benefits for themselves and their family overseas, as well as a hamper at Christmas. Seriously though, once we leave the EU in 2019 we will be actively courting Aussies, Kiwis and Anericans to race in the UK to cover for the reduction in European riders.
  10. Why indeed. Allegedly. Friday nights would be best IMO.
  11. Its not just us, seems to be the same issue across a lot of clubs. Season after season nothing seems to change. It would probably be worth Glasgow next year saying we are not running in July what with already losing 2 weekends to Cardiff and the Fours. Its already school holidays when crowds naturally dip anyway.
  12. Agreed, though you could look at it as though they have been shafted or look at it as a couple of riders who tried it on, got rumbled and are now playing victim. Depends on your take.
  13. They are visitors to the UK and do not have a right to earn a living here. They are imported to our sport on a year to year basis as we do no have enough skilled riders of our own. Their right to earn a living is in Australia, their country of citizenship.
  14. Like Rusty Harrisons departure from Edinburgh in the 2000's. There are two sides to every story and I doubt we have or will ever get the true facts of what actually went on. Aussie whining is legendary but they shouldnt over estimate their importance. They are much less valuable now they have to enter our league on a minimium 5 average. Lets remember they are here as there is no equivalent league set up in their country. Thats why they jump through hoops to meet the visa criteria, flying halfway round the world and getting paid to do what would be their hobby at home, in a country culturally similar to home and which shares the same language. For most we are happy to have them, but please spare me the sentiment that we cant survive without them a la Sedgmen on twitter.
  15. We are only really looking at 3 riders here. Lindgren is in the twilight of his career and Holder is on a rapid downward. That leaves Doyle. The rest fled last season.
  16. Starting this Thursday will be fine.
  17. We've got Vatch on speed dial if they want to give us their number to pass on.
  18. He could sign his 2018 contract just now.
  19. Got to disagree about the weather. Went into Glasgow for the day where it chucked it down from 2.45 until 3.05 and again from 4.15 to 4.45. Not pleasant. Three miles along the M74 at Polmadie on the way home, bone dry and sunny. Unfortunately its the way our summer has turned out. I fear we may have been phoning Vatch to get a result declared.....about ht8 if it had gone ahead. The downside is Sedgmen seems to have been replaced.
  20. Im sure there used to be a 3 dates rule a few years ago. Just shows where the balance of power is in speedway. Just wait until the plays offs! Bewley and Smith are likely to be involved in all 3 leagues making a chaotic calendar.
  21. Its not unknown for riders to have a poor year in their testimonial season only to bounce back the following year.
  22. Thats four home meetings I think we now need to re-schedule which we cant fit in. Having been off for the Cardiff GP, we arent running again this weekend coming as its the Fours at PB. There seems to be very little cooperation between most clubs in re-arranging fixtures and we are yet again paying the price for having blank fixtures in the pre-July period where no one would come.
  23. Brilliant! Taken 5 years to get a return on that 10 large. Whined all through that first season in 2012 with Glasgow that it never stopped raining, so signed for Worky, the wettest track in the country. Never sorry to get rid. Quintissential whining Aussie.
  24. Tbf KK for Sedgmen is a no brainer. We'll see what he brings tomorrow, the track will be slicker to cope with the heavy rain which will suit him!
  25. In bumping out Roynon they have let the other under achievers know that they are no longer going to accept it. Proctor and Campton look to have upped their game as a result. Whilst Sarjeant unsurprisingly hasnt worked out, you cant fault them for trying. Their major flaw was signing Roynon in the first place.
