  1. Twelve months ago we had unsurmountable debts and were dead in the water with crowds of 450/500 so yes. That was then, now our poorest crowd of the season has been around 1200, we will likely double that for the LCF and we owe no one. There's nothing I can see that justifies a 25% increase for the same number of races.
  2. Got to say I'm disappointed with the pricing policy for the LC Final I've just read about on Twitter. £20 to get in on the day or £17 if you buy online by 25/9. Normal entry is £15. Are we getting something extra for the additional fiver? It appears not. The Edinburgh leg is similarly priced, not that I was going but it seems to me the paying fans are being milked because they can. By all means move the ticketing online then it is easier to gauge the crowd level should it be getting close to capacity but FFS treat us with some respect. Its a £15 meeting with 15 heats where the aggregate winner takes the trophy. I'll think about it!
  3. Cant see Josh ever coming back to GLA. Likewise Morris, been out injured half the season and when he has ridden we havent seen the best of him.
  4. Put out a press release apologising for an understrength team, the injuries were beyond Rye's control and various named riders turned down the booking. Or words to that effect.
  5. Craighead Park was 30 years ago! Today was inexcusable, i dont believe for a minute that no other PL riders werent available. Despite the threat of rain it was another thoroughly decent crowd thanks to a Groupon offer and some promotional work in the city centre during the week. Those punters couldnt have had a worse introduction to speedway, some noticably left around ht8. A BSPA fine should issued for fielding an under strength side. Injuries happen but FFS this was as poor as it gets.
  6. Shortchanged, we've been fooking robbed! #semiprofessionalsport
  7. Its an hour to tapes up, we dont even know who is riding for the opposition whose season is over and its currently pi55ing down! Not exactly an event to inspire the good people new and old who have turned out this season.
  8. Id be interested to see Wells away average, home form is a given for a genuine No1. He has done well after an awful 2014 but i just dont see him maintaining it.
  9. Wolberts average for 2015 is over 9.00 just that his proper average still takes into account some of his 2014 rides. No one will be as so stupid to take him on that average knowing what passed in 2014, not even Edinburgh i suspect unless one of the other top 4 move on.
  10. Perhaps not the best example Ive used but Worky are crying out for a decent No1. Wells isnt the answer just like Hansen wasnt this year.
  11. Thereafter the rest of the team should be moved on, perhaps with the exception of Wethers. To bring back the fans the team needs to be refreshed and not the same old tired line up of Bach, Howarth etc. Josh Grajczonek never did ride in Poland, perhaps he could be tempted back and be the genuine No1 Worky are crying out for.
  12. Courtesy of http://www.edinburghmonarchs.co/news/article.asp?id=2194 There will be no meeting at Armadale on Friday and the next meeting will be against Berwick in our final Premier league match of the season on Friday 18th September. Said co-promoter Alex Harkess, "We have reached the time of the year when our next match, to a large extent, is dependent on the result of fixtures elsewhere. We did approach Glasgow to race the League Cup Final on Friday but they were unable to take up that offer. To be fair it wouldn't have been perfect for us as we want to publicise that match as much as possible to maximise the crowd." "Berwick were prepared to come this Friday or next Friday and, for various reasons it was better to bring them on the 18th. One good reason was that Erik Riss was keen to be in Germany on Friday for the practice session of the next Long Track Grand Prix. With Joonas Kylmakorpi withdrawing from that competition Erik needs to pick up ten points to go top of the standings although their are a number of riders now in close competition." Talks are ongoing with Glasgow about the dates for the League Cup Final and we will announce these as soon as possible.
  13. Brilliant! Aussie GP 7 weeks on Saturday, are Sedge & Smiler rowing home! Indeed no fixture congestion, run the Scottish Open.
  14. He's now at No1 as Morris has been even worse. Hopefully Kauko can make the difference to us.
  15. Holding out until Nieminen has a competitive run out which will be Rye House home the following Sunday. By then who we get in the play offs should be clearer. If it doesnt suit Glasgow why would they agree to it. Sarjeant at Armadale is neither here nor there. Fill the blank fixture with the Scottish Open.
  16. James the Persecuted only has himself to blame. He is chancer turned victim. If his confidence is low its because he genuinely has to compete with the other riders for his points rather than being half a turn ahead when he has dropped the clutch early. What is frustrating is the inconsistency of referees, a rare few still let it go, some wait to see if the rider has punished himself then put the red lights on as the riders head out of turn 2. The wise pull it back straight away. Glasgow have had the benefit of Sarjeant, starting on a 3 and now being 5.25, which I think is his level. The No2 slot is a difficult one though I dont see him improving on it next year. Palovaara is the better long term prospect.
  17. The solution is not to have it on a Sunday. Monday past was a bank holiday in England, why not have it then and not schedule any EL matches to run against it. These events have had their day, id imagine they rely on the fans of the staging club to make the numbers. Perhaps it will have a relaunch next year if it is staged at the new National Speedway Stadium in Manchester but i cant see it.
  18. From where I was standing on the fourth bend there was no doubt Sarjeant jumped. For everyone who thinks he is being victimised there is someone who thinks he is at it. Im in the latter and other than at Kings Lynn last week, I dont recall seeing any injustices. With the process of maturity he will learn he cant get away with jumping the starts forever though with being influenced by Gary Havelock that may take longer than expected. The more he is defended the longer it will go on. With the new averages out next week it looks like Sarjeant is staying in the 1-5 by a narrow 0.02. Lawson moves to No1 with Morris likely going to 5 which hopefully means we will see the best of him before the season is out. Sarj has just jumped the start in ht1 at NCL! Aaaaarrrgghhhhh!
  19. Play off matches wont count towards his average. Around 5 points i would like to give him another go at GLA!
  20. Ankle injury, didnt travel over from Sweden. Short term hopefully!
  21. That was the best Glasgow could have hoped for in the circumstances. Carr wasnt at the races and Victor was a big loss. Advantage NCL!
  22. We need some consistent refereeing, Morris to front up as a No1 in all his rides and the track to be regraded and/or watered more often than it was last Sunday. Last week was torture, other than Starke, the Rebels performed as you would have expected but we played into their hands by not regrading when the track slickened off. The 1.30pm start is a welcome if one off change.
  23. Lets hope that events of this week will have reigned in his temper.
