  1. More like the home captain beat him in a race he expected to win and he let his immaturity come to the fore yet again.
  2. How much of that is down to having the track super slick every week, making it easy for everyone to ride. Then when you head on your travels anything more than a couple of grains of shale sends the Worky riders into meltdown as its not what they are used to.
  3. Another classic Monarchs write down TheScotsman, just in case! The other side is that the German dud has recovered the 2 points on his starting average, Sedgmen is riding like a heat leader at No2 and Riss is capable of pulling in important points at almost any track. With selective writing like that you must be ripe for an invitation to do match reports for the Monarchs website! Nothing less than an 0131 victory will do to make Somerset's northern tour that bit more interesting.
  4. A good win for Glasgow, perhaps one we would not have got if Bjerre and Robson had been riding. Again a guest has not even adequately covered for Morris, though Worrall S seems to be going well otherwise. Perhaps not the meeting for Dmitri to make his home debut!
  5. Relatively comfortable meeting for Glasgow tonight though could have been the opposite had Risager been in the points. Kauko looks like he'll be fine once he gets set up right though Hynek doesn't fill me with confidence, he's not very quick and looked all at sea in most of his races, time will tell. Jack Holder looks thoroughly decent and got back up from Fisher and Simota. I sometimes wonder if once referees quality they are just left to it. Tonight one of the poorest refs by a considerable distance let the race continue in ht1 when Sarjeant had come down on first bend bunching and was lying on the inner third of the track, let the rest of the pack ride round him on the next lap and as they were coming round again decided to then put the red light on and exclude Sarjeant who had by this time gotten to his feet! Absolutely mental. Ht3 Holder is moving at the start, ref calls it back and gives Holder an official warning. No problem. Ht9 Simota does likewise and he lets the race continue, ht14 Kurtz barely bothers to wait for the green light and narrowly misses the rising tapes with his helmet, ref lets the race continue. Consistency - zero. No wonder fans get frustrated. Amazing, with James Sarjeant and James Wright in the same meeting!
  6. Is this the same rider that RG publicly criticised over the tannoy at one meeting towards the end of 2014, saying he hadn't been good enough and wouldn't be back next season?
  7. We'll find out in 2 weeks when Redcar come to Le Stade D'Ashfield!
  8. Its just you. Just because I comment doesn't mean its always a complaint. No complaint about Kauko just comment that hope he's still good enough to do a job. Summers is signing of the season, yes I was a vocal critic however he has upped his game to new heights that few including me would have foreseen. Happy to be proved wrong. Sarjeant I regularly COMMENT on as he generates so many reruns from anticipating the start he punishes himself as well as adding unnecessary time onto meetings. I don't think he benefits from the unstinting defence of Gary Havelock in this and riding as a fast track rider in the EL gives him a false sense of confidence. Yes he has put over 3 points on his starting average but will take half that off again staying in the 1-5. No cold water from me about anything the new owners have done but I will add comment/analysis to this discussion forum on what I see fit whether that meets your approval or otherwise.
  9. Hope Kauko is still up to it, he hasn't ridden over here for a few years and I'm not sure how competitive the leagues he does ride in actually are. He must be late thirties now. He last rode for us in 2006, put the best part of 2 points on his average and contributed to arguably our best season of the noughties, when we also tracked Danny Bird as well as Shane Parker. Hopefully he can have the same influence this time, we have looked a bit fragile with Sarjeant in the middle order and our reserves being wildly inconsistent. Looks like Sarjeant will stay in the 1-5 for this season. Someone has clearly had a word as he's not jumped the start the last 2 meetings I've seen him, that's a whopping 8 races his left fingers must have been twitching and he's had to earn his points legitimately.
  10. The PL could potentially go to 6 man teams but still include 2 reserves. That would take meetings down to 14 heats. As it is there aren't enough riders to fill 7 man teams in the PL due to the lack of quality Brits and over zealous restrictions on non EU riders. I would also lower the work permit threshold to 5.5 points. A lot has been mentioned of the success of Eastbourne going NL however they are the only one I can think of. IOW & Stoke both went down never to return, I think IOW may have even closed completely. Best wishes to Berwick and its owners. There seems to be a determined effort by a few to close them which is sad. #smalltownmentalitywithnothingelsetodo
  11. Fair do's, another superb crowd turning out despite a poor forecast. Roll on next Monday.
  12. No suggestion of cheating from me at all, merely pointing out that PB played it to their advantage and all within the rules. I'm certain Glasgow would have come on stronger in the latter heats having got rid of Roynons third ride and Palovaara coming on some having chased down Ostergaard in ht8 and getting him on the last lap. Wethers was pretty decent as the track was prepared slick to cope with the weather though I don't think he would have done much thereafter. Not much your cheque book can do about the weather!
  13. PB using the rules to their advantage to finish at ht10, clearly not confident of taking it down to the wiren though unlikely it would have got there. Ref pushed heats on quick though should have excluded Kus in ht7, he was on the back straight when the 2 minutes expired.
  14. We only had 5 home matches during May and June due to rain offs and no one wanting to come on a date in May. As a weekend club we also suffer disproportionately with shared events and the Cardiff GP. Time for a change of race day to a week night during the Summer months to avoid it all.
  15. With all the rain that's fallen over the last few days its likely that another serious shower will put the meeting beyond doubt. There isn't enough heat in the air to dry up what's fallen though there is a bit of a wind which helps. If we do manage to get this on the track will be a bit of a lottery and any predictions go out the window. A couple of weeks ago I wouldn't have been bothered if this had been rained off as it would give us a chance to see Lambert R, a great up and coming rider however we are once again looking like running out of dates. We lose next Sunday to the PL Fours though we are now racing Plymouth on the Monday night, have already lost the Cardiff GP weekend and lose Sunday 6 September to the PLRC. We still have to schedule in the LC Final and potentially a KO Cup Semi however the first available Sunday is the 23rd September. October weather is generally poor as we found out last year trying to run the home matches several times against Berwick and Workington that we never did do! Time for some smart thinking!
  16. Ownership in so many hands can be difficult as everyone often thinks they have a say in everything. When things don't go their way they aren't scared to voice it and factions break out leading to major problems behind the scenes. Add in Berwick fans ability for in-fighting as demonstrated on this forum for the last 2 years and you've got a recipe for disaster. Hope Berwick do run next year, they are going through a poor run including last season but this happens to many clubs. Going through the shyt seasons make you appreciate the good ones more.
  17. Hopefully its in the interests of British Speedway
  18. Absolutely not, but neither should we forget either and make it easy for Havelock. If Berge wants to ride elsewhere there is nothing we can really do about it. The same team manager will be in place next season and if he didn't like it this year its not going to better the next. Perhaps selling Berge may be the best long term option for Glasgow.
  19. Berge will be serving a ban for the same number of days that we have been given a facility for, therefore he can potentially sign with another club from Monday. If it is Redcar we should not be playing ball but demanding a transfer fee and being equally as obstructive and obnoxious as we found Havelock during the winter, and not releasing Berge's paperwork. Going to Redcar however is only a piece of hearsay right now and I really don't expect to see him in the PL again this season, he gets homesick you know.
  20. You little beauty! Summers has a blinder yet again on the road. #monthetigers
  21. Time for a re-write to make it more specific. It can be interpreted differently by those applying the rules and that lack of consistency is the major criticism.
  22. Despite the BS posted above we are still no further forward with a replacement for Berge never mind Howe. It seems the facility runs out on Saturday and we have a hard meeting on Sunday against Peterborough. It could be that the BSPA have rejected a legitimate signing, 'not being in the interests of British Speedway' or that there actually isn't anyone available and we have to run with an NL 3 pointer! An interesting few days ahead.
  23. Glasgow will have to rely on the top three of Morris, Lawson & Summers to bring in around 40 points to have any chance of gaining a point. Every one except Morris can take a Howe r/r ride. Morris has had 2 weeks off so may be rusty but needs track time with PB at home this Sunday. Sarjeant has been poor since being injured last month and moving into the 1-7. Amazingly he never jumped the start once last Sunday but that won't last! Our reserves for this one are a write off, a bit like Berwick a few weeks ago where nothing at the bottom end cost us a thumping. Think a point is too far for us to reach in the circumstances!
  24. Had the decision making on each of those occasions been made public, we would know that, would likely accept it and move on. However it wasn't and won't ever be, leaving us again at the point that the decision made regarding Berge has disadvantaged Glasgow.
