  1. This subject is a real difficult one. On one hand I can see why people are saying we should give the younger riders a go but on the other I can see the point of using the riders in form. Personally, I edge towards the form riders. I can totally understand the omission of Scotty on current form, although I do hope we havent seen the last of him in GB colours. I would have gone for Rico over King based on form. I dont have anything against Danny King at all, I just feel Rico is better. As far as giving the youngsters experience of competition goes, I'm not sure what will be achieved. To me, the only experience we will be giving them is getting soundly beaten and destroying confidence. I dont think change should be made for the sake of change. In my opinion, the 'youngsters' we really need to be working on are the ones that are 8/9/10 years old; getting them well trained and supported so that when they reach the age of say Tai, they will have a much better chance. I dont feel putting riders in just because they happen to be younger than Scott or Rico is the way to go. Yes pick those younger ones that are in better form, but not anyone thats half decent who happens to be younger, it is a competition after all, so the best team should be put out. I'm not even sure how old Scott and Rico are but surely they wont be drawing thier pensions any time soon will they? One thing that puzzled me a bit when Rob Lyon was talking at the GP, was when he said its all about the kids. Fair enough comment to make but if thats his belief, why pick Joe Screen amongst the original squad? Has Rob always been about the kids or has he bowed to pressure? I'll still be giving my full support to the team, no matter who is picked. I wish them all the best and I sincerely hope I can come back on here and say how wrong I was. One thing for sure is that I wont be on here slagging them off if they dont do well.
  2. And thank you for clearing things up Snyper and showing balls to do so. I look forward to continuing having a laugh and some debates with you on here. Theres nothing wrong with a bit of Scotland/England banter, we've done it a few times ourselves and I'm sure we will continue in good spirit. Now, I'm off to bed to dream about McAllisters penalty miss at Wembley!
  3. I think you're just jealous of his mechanic Gemini.
  4. Snyper, you have built up a reputation on here akin to a pantomime baddie who everyone likes to boo. I've got on reasonably well with you on here and had a bit of a laugh as well as disagreements and have stuck up for you on occasions. I have to say though mate that sometimes you do bring it on yourself. We are all very clear about your hatred of Scott and of the Union and thats your prerogative. What bugs some is how you express it sometimes. You clearly didnt have to use the term poncey Englishman, just the word him would have worked perfectly well in that sentence. Of course it was going to wind people up, it annoyed me a bit to be honest, because as much as you are proud to be Scottish, I am proud to be English. You are obviously an educated, intelligent person who is capable of getting a point across without all the unecessary jibes. I dont know why you do it. Whether its because you just like a wind up or because your hatred is so ingrained you just cant help yourself. I dont want you banned from here because when you are involved in a good discussion, you can offer very good contributions and when having a laugh, you show a great sense of humour. I would like to ask for you to please try and leave out the English this, English that etc, as its uncalled for and annoying for people like myself, who normally find you good fun to deal with.
  5. How much were Viagra paying you Snyper? I liked Crumps response when Charlie asked him if he was tasting a World title, "I'm tasting Red Bull"
  6. Is it just me or does Trevor Hedge at the bottom of this page look suspiciously like Alan Partridge!
  7. If thats the case you better hope the event isnt held at Wembley in future or you'll be standing for it twice!
  8. Sounds about right Snyper, the old girls are always the worst! I understand where you're coming from Scottieboy, the England song was unecessary and out of order. It was the British GP, not English. Also did not see the need for the Welsh anthem in the British GP.
  9. Good job it wasnt windy Snyper or there would have been a Danish supporting Scot on display with a Pole in more ways than one
  10. Obviously everyone is going to have differing opinions on team selection and no matter who Lyon picked he would be wrong in a lot of peoples eyes, mine included. I can kind of understand people talking about blooding youngsters but surely only if they are good enough. In my opinion, the only youngster we have that has a decent chance of becoming a top rider is Tai. I fear that putting in all of the youngsters is change for the sake of change and we could well see thier confidence take a good battering in the World Cup. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
  11. As much as I dont want to admit it, I dont think it matters who we pick as I think the best we can hope for is beating Slovenia to 3rd place and then taking a pounding in the race off. Pesamistic I know but thats what I feel the most likely result will be. Tai aside(who was brought up in Australia), we dont have any genuinly classy youngsters coming through. Eddie and Lewis have been around for a while and whilst I accept they are very steadily improving thier Elite league form, when they come up against the big guns they fall short. Much has been made of Nicholls/Harris poor GP form but Eddie wasnt great was he? Its a tough job for Lyon and he will cop it regardless of who he picks. I'm sure we've all got our own ideas as to who should be picked but at the end of the day it wont make any difference. Maybe we should do what Jack Charlton used to do for EIRE and look for anyone with some kind of connection and nick them as our own. Does anyone know of any Danes, Poles, Aussies or Swedes that might have had fish n chips in thier lifetime?
  12. Are you thinking Nicholls and Richardson will be left out TW?
  13. To be fair to Hans, he did what he had to do. He got stuffed up in the corner and then Chris obligingly caught his front wheel, not very hard mind but Hans had a quick decision to make and whether its liked or not, he made the right one for him. He did go down easy but the referee had no choice but to exclude bomber. Its a bit like in football when a player gets a touch in the penalty box and goes down. I think Bombers ironic thumbs up to Hans as he walked past him in the pits was his way of saying well done, you stitched me up there. With Pedersen, he too went down a bit easily but there was a big contact and all 3 back would have been the fairest decision. I thought Pedersen was out of order for having a moan about Hans' pass on him on the last bend of heat 20 I think it was, as there was a gap and Hans found it fair and square.
  14. NEWSFLASH - Apparently, news has been released that the war in Iraq and Gareth Southgate missing his penalty in 96 was all the fault of Scott Nicholls! Thanks Phil! That'll teach me not to be a smartarse!
  15. Sorry Snyper but I have to disagree. Scott tried to move away a couple of times but Emil continued after him. If he wanted to make his point so badly he could have done it in the pits. As I've said, Scott is not blameless but he is not entirely to blame and I can only assume by your previous posts (glad he had a pish meeting, acting like a bairn etc) that your opinion is biased against Scott more than anything else and to be honest, your post more than others surprised me least of all.
  16. Sorry to dissapoint you Snyper but I'm not an 'I love Scotty' person or any other rider. I'm someone who believes in fairness and to blame one person in that incident is wrong. Whether Emil speaks English is irrelevant, it was quite clear what point he was trying to make and to be honest there wasnt much of a point to make, it was a fair move. Scott had the right of way going to the gate and Emil should have followed. Even if Emil was on his own he would have needed to turn right to get around the gate as he was heading for it. I've watched it several times now to see if I was wrong but in my opinion and probably the vast majority opinion is that Emil leant on/locked into Scott deliberatly, which is what made Scott push him.
  17. I have to agree with those who were offended by 'come on England'. As they have all said, it was the British GP not the English GP, no matter who is riding in the team. Don't know why Snyper hates British riders even more because of it though, they didnt play the songs! One thing I also think is questionable is the need to sing the Welsh national anthem at the British GP. I've nothing against the Welsh and I know it's held in Cardiff, but Wales is part of Britain and it's the British GP, so surely just the British anthem is all thats necessary.
  18. Thanks for the link GoTigers but I've seen the footage plenty of times and no one can convince me that Scott didnt have right of way. Celticboy has hit the nail on the head saying it was 6 and half a dozen. Probably the most predictable thing to come out of all of this was the Scott haters laying all the blame on him. I'm not surprised in the slightest. At the time I remember thinking that they would be on here at the first opportunity to spout their clouded views. I'm not saying Scott is blameless, he was involved and has to take his punishment but to say Emil was not at fault is bias in the extreme. If he hadn't have kept on about it, it would not have come to blows.
  19. Welcome aboard celticboy! I have to say what an excellent post. Makes a nice change for someone to show an unbiased and neutral view. You will soon learn that is not always the case on here and that some cannot help themselves by using their hatred to post an opinion rather than be honest. Will look forward to reading more of you're posts and whether we agree/disagree, I'm sure it won't degenerate into a slagging match.
  20. I've just watched the incident again and I don't care how anyone tries to dress it up, Emil stops Scott getting in to the gate. Scott was slightly ahead of Emil and was heading for the opening and instead of giving way and following Scott in, he locked handlebars and they both ended up hitting the gate, pushing it almost closed. The move in the race was hard but completely fair and what followed would not have happened if Emil had just accepted it and not kept going on and on about it. At the end of the day they were both out of order and have been dealt with. Unfortunately, the people who don't like Scott cannot bring themselves to give an objectional view and will blame him no matter what evidence is shown or what respected riders/ex-riders say about the incident. I don't have favourite riders so this is not an 'I love Scott' perspective. Yes I was behind him on saturday because I'm patriotic but I can promise you my opinion of the incident would have been the same regardless of who was involved. I also thought Hans made a fair move on Pedersen coming off of turn four and that Pedersen was out of order for having a go at Hans.
  21. T.N.T, your tv must show things differently to everyone elses! Emil was on the left of Scott and so was the gate, very clearly so! Scott was trying to go left but Emil would not let him and ran them both into the fence, which is when Scott pushed Emil and the rest as they say is history.
  22. Maybe next year they can scrap all the cheesy music and balloon acrobats and just put a boxing ring in the centre green. First up: Nicki.P v Referee, Second on: Scott v Emil and then the big one : Snyper v Superace!
  23. I'm amazed you can say Scott was at fault or accuse him of trying to take him out. He ran him wide to defend his line like he is entitled to do and yes it was hard but definately fair. I think you will find yourself in a very small minority on this one. I appreciate you ride speedway and hats off to you for that, but Chris Louis, Mark Loram, Sam Ermalenko and Kelvin Tatum all ride/rode too (and no disrespect to you but probably at a higher level) and they were quite clear that Scott did nothing wrong.
