2010 Grand Prix wildcards
wotnoaj replied to gaztrotter's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
21stCH, I don't see how you can say it's only partly down to nationality, it's totally down to nationality and we all know it. Let us pretend Ulamek/Zager were British, do you think Harris would have been chosen over them? It's all down to this strange logic that not having two/any Brits would have an effect on the audience. -

Erm...exaggeration? I cant agree with you saying Zager and Lindback are not superior to anyone in next years series, they would both score far higher than Harris in the GP's and maybe not just Harris. -
Who Can Be World Champion 2010 ?
wotnoaj replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The usual suspects; Crumpy, Gollob, Pedersen and Emil. Gollobs chances have'nt been harmed by an extra Polish date on the calender. Out of the four, I'd like Crump to win. -
Feel sorry for Zagar, far more deserving of a place in my opinion. All for comercial reasons, which is crap anyway in my opinion. I doubt not having Harris in the GP's would effect the attendance at Cardiff.

Have to agree with srbramble, there is no justification for his inclusion. As for Peregrinner saying he would be a superstar given a bit of dirt............really!!?? I think you're kidding yourself there.

Shame he's leaving but no big suprise. Hope the last one is memorable for him. I've always enjoyed watching him ride and have always found it a shame he has'nt been World Champ. Good interview on the SGP website, shows a good attitude to his career and life. I wish him all the best. -

You're right chopper, I cannot understand the mentality of some Brits. Every Aussie I've met has been so passionate about supporting their countrymen, win or lose. As you say, if Darcy hadnt won you guys would have been proud of him, you certainly wouldnt be on here giving him a hard time. I'm sure you get your share of knockers in Oz but we seem to have more than our share over here! -

Well said! I wish the all the Brits could be as supportive and proud of their sportsmen/women as the Aussies are. -

Some pretty pathetic posts on here gloating about Tai's tapes offense. Not really suprising though given the mentality of some people. Got some saying how funny it was; it's also quite amusing to see those posters show themselves for what they really are. Some just hate to see a Brit doing well, it's like they can't handle it. These are usually the glory hunter type people, who only support the winning teams as it makes them feel good, the kind of Brits who walk around wearing Brazil/Italy football shirts, or Real Madrid/Man Utd shirts but probably could'nt name half the team; the kind that slag off Lewis Hamilton and prefer to see a foriegner win. Ok if you're about 10 years old but you really should grow out of it. Some are just plain ignorant or nasty people. Tai is a young lad with a lot to learn. He is trying to cope with the fact that his Dad is dying and will not be around to see his future acheivements; he desperately wanted to win that title for his Dad and was probably devastated that he could'nt do it, more for his Dad than himself and yet some of you come on here to have a laugh about it or gloat about it. You make remarks about his character/personality based on the thinnest of reasons, without getting to know the lad at all. I don't know the lad personally so I'm not going to pretend he's a nice guy or a nasty guy. Some of you need to grow up or actually think before you post. -
Will Jc Be Fit To Ride Iin Gp
wotnoaj replied to geeze's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Looking at the picture of Crumpys arm in the Speedway Star today, I'm amazed he got through 5 heats and gained some points. I really hope he can do enough to protect his lead in the final round, this is clearly someone who still has the hunger to succeed as well as the talent. He must have been in agony. -
I didn't trawl through all the posts but I'm sure a fair few have already said the same as me, Leigh Adams. Predictable maybe but at least it's on topic!

Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
wotnoaj replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I see Bomber has put his case forward to be in the GP's next year, reminding the powers that be that he is the British Champion and the only Brit to make the GP qualifier. Does this mean two Brits next year? Surely not! Don't get me wrong, I want the Brits to do well in Speedway, but fair is fair, if they are not up to standard, then someone else deserving of the chance should be there. The higher quality the field, the more likely we are to get different winners of GP's and more exciting racing. At the moment, you can usually have a good guess as to who is going to make the semis. -
Has Sky Had Enough Of The Gp
wotnoaj replied to nibs's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I had a moan at Sky about the red buttoning of the GP, this is what they said to me. Thankyou for your e-mail about the Speedway coverage on Sky. As with all "live" sporting events, Sky can no longer guarantee that any specific sport will be broadcast on the same channel all of the time. The reason for broadcasting the rest of the Speedway coverage on Sky Sports 2 Interactive Service was for the continuity of the broadcast of this event. I was sorry to read that you found this unsatisfactory, however, the programme was repeated in full giving our viewers a chance to see this event. In other words, tough s***! I have since asked if a live Premiership football match will be stopped halfway and red buttoned and also asked if dwindling viewing figures had anything to do with it. Strangely enough I've had no reply to that. -
Future of the GP's...?
wotnoaj replied to Sprog1's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Fair play snapper, I didn't really think about the shape of the track. I know they differ in size, shape in corners and banking. Is there an argument that riders of that quality should be able to have a couple of laps in the morning to get an idea? I'm not trying to be funny with that question, I genuinly wouldn't know. -

To be honest mick, I don't know the answer to your question but I'm sure if Chris Schramm applied to be in the GP's they would not only shut the shop but barracade it aswell!! -

Tracks should be prepared by the usual curator for that track, it's a bit of an insult to the curator that someone should come in and take over their track anyway. Practice the day before should be scrapped, it serves no purpose as the track is always completely different on race day anyway. -
Which Brit Should Get A Wild Card?
wotnoaj replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think it's fair to say that there is no British rider that is really worth a wildcard at the moment. We all know however that the bods in charge want at least one Brit for commercial reasons, which is totally wrong but more than likely to happen. Tai is the one I'd pick if I had to. Harris, Nicholls and Richardson have all been there, had a go and failed. Not much is likely to change for them if they are included. Kennett is a talented rider up to a certain level and is a nice fella; unfortunately being a nice fella won't win him races. Bridger I feel will never be a GP quality rider as long as he has a hole in his arse. Again, a talented rider up to a point but drops his head as soon as he is beaten or makes a mistake. Both are good Elite league riders, as are the main team GB riders, but that is their level. Tai has the potential to do better than the others. I don't think he is there yet but if he is put into the GP's, I don't think losing will dent his confidence the way it would the others. I feel he has more mental toughness about him and will learn from his experiences. Maybe thats the Aussie spirit in him. -

Grand Prix Challenge.

One of the biggest shocks for me was Jonas Davidsson only scoring 3 points, I fancied him to be in with a shout. Kenny Bjerre only getting 6 was a suprise but then he looks quite capable of finishing in the top 8 anyway. I think a Brit will be given a wildcard entry for 'commercial' reasons, which I don't agree with at all, the GP should only have the best riders involved. It's a sad fact that none of the Brits have what it takes at GP level at the moment.
