  1. This is dangerous thinking. I'm assuming you've forgotten about David Nix, a young rider many years ago was suffering from concussion and was riding at conference league level for king's Lynn, he blacked out on track and died as a result. Riders should 100% not be allowed to ride with an existing concussion. It's just not worth the risk.
  2. I'm a little ashamed to ask this but what's the deal with the sombreros and Belle Vue?
  3. Track covers can actually do more harm than good. They'll essentially make the track "sweat" and bring all the underground moisture to the surface. Once the covers come off and the track is open to the elements, that water will make the top surface like glass. I understand people think that covers keep the rain off the track which they do, but the underground moisture is just a big an issue than rain water.
  4. I did a training school with Olle (what was probably) 16/17 years ago at Kings Lynn as part of his 'sliding school' programme. Lovely bloke, very approachable and supremely knowledgeable. He had time for everyone attending and it was a very enjoyable weekend!
  5. it's funny you mention Ivan's training schools in this thread. I did one with Ivan WAAAAAY back in (what was probably) 2002 at Newport and I distinctly remember him telling me that if a rider gets a bit too close on the way to the first turn to 'give him a kick' and that will put him off on the way into the first corner
  6. I for one wouldn't be happier to see Poole fall out of the playoffs. Year on year they find some way to bend the rules to suit them so it would be justice served if Ipswich knock them out this year
  7. People keep saying 'we got a national stadium now' and 'it needs to be there'... You do realise its not going to house 40,000 people? The only way there will ever be a British GP not at Cardiff would be if sales dropped, or the principality said no.. 20 years on and I very much doubt that's going to change any time soon.
  8. I'd just like to point out that the folks who were annoyed at zagar and iversen for qualifying for next year should get their coats
  9. Is it mathematically impossible then? I've read a few times wolves may sneak in but nothing concrete.
  10. A) he earned his rightful place in the GP therefore yes, he can. B) you do realise why he's not been in the GPs this year right? Show some compassion.
  11. Very rare I comment in here any more but tonight was the first time since speedway first came to sky way back in the day that I switched a meeting off before it ended. What an absolute s**t show that was. On the strength of tonight alone I'd imagine BT Sport are seriously considering their options. A valid point was made tonight by my dad (who I watch all televised meetings with) - besides the GPs, has there actually been an exciting meeting on bt sport this year?
  12. I was lucky enough to take part in a training school held by Ivan at Newport years back - was a true professional and made sure all that were a part of it received equal and immense instruction. A true professional and a massive shame that he's passed. The one thing I remember him saying (and I'll never forget) was "give the rider next to you a kick heading into the first corner, it'll put them off and will give you an advantage". Old school to the end RIP Ivan. Massive loss to speedway.
  13. It was totally NKI's fault but you can't help but feel for him when Pedersen took his nose off earlier in the race
  14. I believe he's using the tried and tested 'throwing muck at the wall to see what sticks' method.
  15. Can almost see the tweet from Harris already. "Just couldn't get the speed right tonight, will get it right next time"
  16. If I was handed free entry I'd certainly go more, not sure if 2 seasons of (ahem) conference league racing count but I'll take it if it's going spare haha!
  17. A recent press release by the BSPA says they blocked the move because both home tracks share a race night. I can't help but think there's something fishy about this as it's only 3 clashes. It doesn't add up.
  18. For somebody such as myself BT Sport is actually a very hard commodity to come by - it is this that irks me the most and for that I can sympathise with some of the folks who 'steal' the feed. I personally have Sky broadband, but don't have Sky TV as it's overpriced, plus I barely watch TV anyway. I am not allowed to simply purchase a day pass to watch BT sport as I'd need a Sky tv or BT broadband package for that. They really need to think of a way around this as I had to watch the youtube stream in the end, which I guarantee won't be available in the UK for the next GP. I'll simply have to resort to begging to watch it around a friends house or simply watch it illegally, and that's not acceptable whichever way you look at it!
