I believe someone has absent mindedly left a bar of soap on the floor in the showers....

We often say on here how this country should adopt much of what Poland does, to at least try and make the sport credible over here... However.. The cost implications will prevent much of that... But.. Maybe a very cost effective improvement for the sport in the UK could be to employ Polish doctors? Over here the doctors are striking for only getting paid fourteen quid an hour, yet I am sure there would be quite a few Polish medics more than happy to come over for that.. Think about it... Each year we seem to have riders having to miss meetings over here due to being injured.. But as soon as "Healing Hands Henryk" gets his mitts on them, sometimes only a day later, they not only ride but can go through the card unbeaten... Hell.. Let's go crazy and play them fifteen quid an hour.. It would be worth it to get these "miracle workers" over here to ensure no one misses a meeting...

It is still £10k to find from your home crowd income though... If he rides away you pay him £5k from no income... If he only rides at home you can probably afford to keep him.. Anyhow... Get well soon Artem....

The standard of rider is fine. .. The tracks are the problem. .. Artem and Emil would enhance the series without a doubt, but all riders need a track that can showcase their unique talents.. How is Phil Morris still being allowed to produce such dire tracks, ,? Even on tracks that deliver great racing each weekend in Poland? -

His signature move... If the riders move over and allow it, then fair play to him for keeping doing it... Edit A few weeks ago I watched Nicki P change his line and rode about four yards from the kerb down the straight when Bartek was doing his usual "nail them on the apex"... On this occasion Bartek had to bail out or hit Nicki's back wheel as he cut across him... Nicki obviously watches him race, maybe one or two of the GP lads could do the same,, ... -

I think that the several hundred thousand of pounds they earn in Poland means it is far better to be available each weekend for their Polish team, than take a "high risk" move on the Saturday at the GP.. Winning the World Championship doesnt bring huge reward, but it might enhance your sponsorship opportunities, but let's be honest, for most of the lads who ride at HL in Polands top league, their sponsorship is pretty damn good already... Why risk the "real big pay days"?.. -

Fair play to Doyle and Freddie.. Old heads... But they ride each race like "winning is everything".. And take risks that others simply wont take... Bartek is undoubtedly the most talented rider, but he is also one of the most brave and committed too.. Several of the other "talents" should reflect on how they do the "hard part of the job" if they ever want to compete with him... -

All seem happy to be on the gravy train.. Winning is a "nice to do, optional extra". Bartek is a generational talent but having it made so easy with riders quite content to play second fiddle... -

Tracks that deliver great racing each week in Poland... From many of exactly the same riders.. Become crap when the GP team get involved.. -

Doyley seemed to do exactly that... Dave Norris too was another example who seemed to have a "lightbulb moment" and "suddenly" become a top class rider.. But, riders like that are very, very few far and between, I agree.. Dan has all the talent needed, not sure he has that attitude that means someone needs to get upset with him to win... Woffy had it, but seems to have lost it, which is quite natural given to stay at that Elite level of any sport for so many years is huge.. But when he had that hunger, he was a very tough, single minded competitor.. Dan needs to find that "edge".. Even more so given his unique talent.. -

You can imagine that the rest of the riders really like Dan... -

In Speedway, as everyone knows, age doesn't really matter... Bartek could win 10 titles given he won it so young... Dan needs to get himself "an edge"... His gating has improved considerably, so he now needs to maximise that by dominating first turns.. Even if "not quite there".. Too many lasts where he needs to deliver some damage limitation.. The race with Lambert was a classic example of not being ruthless enough.. Lambert would have done it to him.. -

Hope you are right, but not sure to be honest.. Seems "too nice".. Lambert doesnt have Dan's level of World Champ potential for me, (still extremely good though), but what he does seem to have is that "I will ride over your granny to win this race" attitude... And not many World Champs have ever gained that accolade without that attitude.. -

Tai not getting into those first bend "clutch" situations anymore... Dan wont ever deliver what his talent should deliver if he doesnt start to do the same.. When all four hit the same space, Bartek takes no prisoners.. Hence he wins... -

Just put on an auto repeat loop for every other rider.. "Watch out! Bartek is just about to nail you up the inside going into turn 3, FFS, move over". -
"Interesting" selection for the Pairs... Must have been a close call... Personally, I think Emil and Doyley probably would have just shaded it for me..... Edit: A bit surprised also that Artem didn't make the KL selection... Shows just what a high quality meeting it must be when those three riders cannot get chosen...

I think any team with crowds over 1200 are the "natural" top league teams.. Seven clubs is probably the number that means the TV money is worth having to support the cost of running in Div 1.. Teams with crowds of 600 or so need to be NDL unless the many Div 1 HL's stop doubling down.. Maybe "Championship Lite/NDL Plus" is the call for Div 2?
-
You would think that this would be the "natural" thing to do... However... History does suggest that "another way" will be found...
-
No, I was thinking. .. Could you narrow it down a bit more....

Many was the time when United were crap I would seek out Fergie after the match... Cannot believe he was never there to talk to me to tell me his plans to turn it around... -
Long way to go... Six matches will decide the league.. Pickering will be up to speed by then. Be interesting to see who gets who in the play offs.. Aces, Sheffield, Wolves, Leicester would be the call for me... Six cracking matches I would think.. And Doyle, Emil and Artum to be possibly available to guest...

Oxford v Poole 21/6/23 Championship.
mikebv replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
And also having some realism when judging their capability.. The likes of Screen, Louis, Loram, Woffy, Lambert and Bewley we HL's in the top league within a couple of seasons racing, and for a few of those riders, the top league was full of the very best.. If the current crop of youngsters reach HL level in the Championship it will be good for the sport, as the more spaces getting filled by UK riders the better.. We seem to see any young talent who appears better than his peers as some sort of potential world beater... Generational talents are, by definition, few and far between... Just let the lads progress, create loads of ring fenced riding opportunities for them in the 2nd tier, and see where they end up.. -
It seems a barmy idea to let a sponsor put money in, change the colours of the team, agree terms with s much better rider than they ended up with at the start, and still be paying the wages.. Crackers... Surely the sponsor would have covered the wages of Holder, hence the signing? I cannot believe that Holder would have been sorted out a set of new colour kevlars without some concrete financial backing behind his signing.. And "if" it all went Pete Tong because of an ego not wanting him on the team, then that is fundamentally ridiculous, and even more so when what has transpired since has panned out for Peterborough.. Speedway is a bit of a shambles isnt it? Wasn't a certain someone in "charge" of it for a few years? I can only presume that those two things are not linked in any way, and just a huge coincidence...

He needs to learn to gate... Plenty of speed, but always 20 yards down from the leader exiting turn two.. Usually chases down well, and always there or thereabouts, and in the race for 4 laps.. He isnt a "natural" given he has an "awkward" style, (is he a tall lad?), which means he can scrub off speed on the bends, as the bike doesn't always "flow"... Plenty quick enough when in front though..
