  1. He will not guest anymore as a protest.. Well, this weekend anyway...
  2. Do they have a "methanol man"? Phil personally not on screen enough for me....
  3. Just too good... "I'd like to see him do what he does at Monmore".. "Wibble, Wibble, Cluck, Cluck, My old mans a mushroom etc etc etc"
  4. A good write up... Very positive... Sad that 600 is a "good crowd" nowadays.. Maybe actively targeting ex Cov and Cradley fans would help? Reachng out via social media wouldn't be too difficult to find them.. Get some details and send them some reduced price tickets every meeting... Policing it wouldn't be too hard either as all you would need is an address and send the tickets out "snail mail"... Postcodes could decide who gets and who doesnt.. There may be the odd person who benefits who attends regularly now, but the opportunity lies with the thousands of ex Cov and CH fans who don't but still live "locally"... And you don't need these fans to become "attached" to the club, (nice if they did obviously), you just need them to attend now and again to "see some speedway".. A couple of hundred at a tenner a pop each meeting (doesnt have to be the same couole of hundred), would add crowd size and, therefore, also atmosphere.. The Brum promoters certainly deserve some success for their input and enthusiasm..
  5. Mark Lemon did the same thing.. Maybe with Rew before he had an average? I think someone on here ensured it got corrected by highlighting that rule on the BSF....
  6. They have pushed the play offs back due to not being able to complete the fixture list to timeline... More meetings would have had the leagues finishing just after the Jubilee Final.... In Poland they move it arround meaning fans of 2nd Div clubs get their only chance to see world class, top level riders ride at their tracks, hence it works.. Over here you would have over a dozen 2nd Div riders riding tracks that they attend many times a season, with Dan Bewley being the only one who would raise any interest... And I am not sure he would be too interested in more meetings in the first place given his schedule..
  7. The organisers must be devastated given the amount of people who will now stay away because he isn't there...
  8. Unattached riders coming in, at a lower average than the rider they are replacing, has credibility.. Using riders from oher teams, with a good chance that they have an even higher average than the rider they are replacing, and could also be considerably better at a particular track, has zero credibility...
  9. Really? Has anyone mentioned this to the last lot of Swindon Promoters? Sounds perfect for their needs...
  10. Play offs should have injury replacement allowed if guests are allowed all season.. If no guest facility is allowed in the UK, and a fit for purpose RR facility was in play instead, then no replacement should be allowed in the playoffs even for an injury... Fans really cannot spend a season accepting dozens of meetings with guest riders, then suddenly complain when riders get replaced in the play offs due to bona fide injuries..
  11. They cannot fit a season in now to timeline.. What chance have they got with even more meetings? Did anyone ask him about the Jubilee Cup thing from last year, too? How many meetings should there be for that?
  12. I have noticed that everytime he walks to his bike he is limping a little.. But then again... They all are...
  13. Supremely oiled... Beautifully smooth rotation... The kind of turnstiles the rest can only wish for..
  14. Pipe dream... The sport is a hobby for most promoters and, off the back of that, set up solely for most riders to race as much as they can so they can be "professional"... That won't change, because it cannot.. Riders won't suddenly ride for less and guesting is a "nice little earner" as once described to me by a lad who did a fair few....
  15. Imagine a football team putting a better team out through the season by borrowing players from your main rivals for the title? With those players doing so well that they prevent their own team, and their own fans (and even themselves) from reaching the play offs.. Having a replacement rider of a similar level is far more acceptable if ever you want to take it seriously..
  16. If you can then that would be a lot of fines this year...
  17. Imagine trying to sell this sport to a wider audience than the 20k or so who attend each week..? (The UK version of it obviously).... Imagine it going out on TV on a main stream channel and someone explaining KL's team? Best of luck to Chris Louis pushing this one.. Nice to see the promoters supporting each other so well.... Cracking meeting at the NSS last night, with 14 riders all belonging to the two teams on show.... Looks like normal service seems to have been resumed quickly...
  18. Could get it going with the lighter they use to light up the 20 Woodbines they need to get through on nights like this...
  19. Get sone sawdust down... Put sone red boiler suits on.... Remove goggles by end of lap two each race.. And. Look sideways, not forwards, as you ride the bike.... Wipe face clean when you get back to the pits... A big mug of hot steaming tea, three sugars, in between races. Proper Speedway...
  20. Scott preferring to commentate? If so. Speaks volumes...
  21. The 2nd tier promoters have got used to Div 1 HL's so not much chance of DUing ending... And the riders have got used to the earning opportunities*... (* Other than one big league stopping it).. The middle tier should have two RS per team, one and NDL HL level rider, and one an NDL SS or reserve... Its role should be a stepping stone from Div 3 to Div 1, not a league where the vast majority of riders are fully pro...
  22. But isn't that the whole point of sport? To win? Maybe a transfer deadline of July end would be better with a maximum of two redeclarations per season..? One at the end of May to still have enough time to maybe be successful for those struggling, and end of July? With one change allowed post July for season ending injuries to the No1, with anyone else injured, then RR used.. Bottom line is, that to take the sport seriously, (in the UK), there needs to be something worth winning, and bringing over top talent enhances that position...
  23. You could argue that bringing in a rider like Lambert showed that a UK Speedway title must be actually worth winning... The counter argument to that being of course, all the weekly Mickey Mouse goings on that form part of the overall league structure, leading up to the play offs. You cannot suddenly decide "let's have some credibility" five sixths into the season... Personally I think even replacing an injured rider leaves the sport open to manipulation, but, given the way several riders ride for other teams you can see which injuries will be "genuine" as they wont be riding for anyone at all if truly "out for the season" (eg Fricke last year)... And if they do rise "Lazarus like", to ride for another team, then any replacement rider cannot continue ro ride as their replacement, and RR must be the only option, if you don't bring the rider back.. I would like to see Robert Lambert ride over here, and Woffy to stay even if Holder returns, as it means lots of good racing and very decent crowds indeed pretty much guaranteed.. Not sure it takes any shine off the trophy either to be honest, given there isn't really too much of one on there to begin with.. It would boost the profile of the sport though without doubt, which is the most important thing..
