Sheffield v Ipswich 15th June (A fixture)
mikebv replied to InTheDeepStuff's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Never seen much passing there for a long while.. Fast close racing in the main, but not much overtaking.. A bit too narrow on the bends for todays riding style and fast machinery.. -
Loved the play offs, but to win lose or draw wouldnt have bothered me. The racing was great... And is consistently very good all around the country.. You cannot take it seriously though can you? Guest Riders dictating where the titles end up, and who qualifies for the play offs, potentially preventing their own team, their fans, and even themselves from winning anything.. Guest Managers taking charge of another team on nights their own team are riding? And riders being prevented from riding for their own team because they have an injury, but allowed to ride for another team because they haven't.. For those who still take seriously a competion that has all that as part of its operating then fair play,... Like so many others now who attend reasonably frequently, I just enjoy watching the racing and whoever wins, then good luck to them.. As I say, the racing nowadays is as good as anything I have seen served up.

Maybe the budget doesnt allow them to pay what the likes of Kemp and Rowe will feel they are worth? Both these lads are potentially significantly better than the vast majority of RS's so, (if it was me), I would be very challenging in my negotiations.. When you have paid Doyle and Emil their whack each meeting, you maybe need to balance up the bottom end a wee bit to compensate.. To be honest, really surprised the Aces havent snapped up Rowe, as he could be a significant difference maker in those very close play off meetings..

"Found it"!!!! "Well keep digging, there might be another one"!!!!!!

Beat me to it.....

But on the plus side.... He can use his brothers race suit so no extra expense needed there..

"We should get Bartek in"... "Or Magic"... 'Or Woffy, in fact let's make two changes"... "Robert Lambert!!!".. Let's all risk the future of a club trying to win something that has, by the very nature of the way the competition is ran, little, credibility, relevance, kudos, or financial reward... A baffling view from so many fans... "Monkey Tennis"!!!!!!

I must admit I was surprised by last nights crowd at the NSS... I get Citeh were parading their trophies through Manchester, (and the crowd literally ran into several dozens) , but I thought more would come to watch Artem.. One thing is for certain, crowd levels alone certainly dont bring over the top riders... To get the best over here you need a sponsor willing to bankroll any deal I would suggest.. And that way of running a business is only as sound as the sponsors ongoing commitment... Sponsors money should really be the icing on the cake... Rather than being a large part of the cake itself... I have attended both Emil and Artem's meetings at the NSS and both showed fantastic talent.. Would I go and watch though when next in town? To be honest, given I get to see them ride regularly on my TV each week, then, quite probably, the answer will be no... Unless in a play off... Remember. Crowds dwindled quite significantly, and swiftly, whilst all the top names rode over here in the 90's and 00's.. Many more of them at the time, and, probably, more famous than those who ride over here today.. For several years I have always felt that a "reality check" would naturally end up being had, and that the clubs would simply reset, and organically put themselves in their "natural right league" for their fanbase level and financial backing.. With Covid in particular coming along and being that clear gift horse opportunity for radical long term focused reset and thinking... Instead, like so often, that desperately needed radical change and reset was avoided... If they were not going to do it then, then you can only presume the current malaise is their only plan... Brady seems to be a forward, modern, bright thinker... The type the sport need so much.. Let's hope he is soon back at the helm..

Jakobsen is a "reasonable" top division rider in Poland... KL must have expected so much more from him...
-
There will be a 3000 crowd at the next home meeting if everyone on here who stopped going turns up...

Hear 14 is Charles Wrights pension fund race...... Beware putting a TS out against him in that race... I remember when the Aces had the Worrall twins taking turns at No4 and it was a nightmare when scores were close as Ht 14 invariably ended as a losing race for the Aces. Charles takes no prisoners at that stage of the meeting....

Plenty of the Stars ride the NSS well so always thought it would be a decent meeting and so it proved.. Obviously mainly there to watch Laguta but several of the Stars (Klindt and MPT in particular), were definitely good value... Two wins for Artem and he is what he is, truly world class. When in front, these riders rarely get passed... Just great to watch top talent over here again.. Racing was "decent" rather than "great" but overall, given the weather, once again, a good evening out at the NSS... Jakobsen a pale shadow of the Polish version... You would think that the NSS would be tailor made for him.. Rob Lyon did a solid job as Manager of the King's Lynn Panthers...

They have the sport they want... A cozy closed shop which is nothing more than a play thing/hobby for them.. The fans who still take it seriously go along with them, colluding that what is being served up has some relevance and kudos.. It has neither... The play offs get "bumper crowds" because many who dont attend regularly (solely down to how the sport is ran), turn up for "one night only" knowing that they will be part of a decent crowd and feel like they are at an "event".. In short.. It will actually feel like a proper team sport for an evening, (just an evening)... For many, here is the script... Attend Play offs, season ends, attend first meeting the following season as "starved of Speedway", stop going, pick and choose meetings when star names are in your town, attend play offs... Rinse and Repeat... The promoters, as they show by this evening, dont take it seriously themselves, so why should the fans? Apologies if this sounds like moaning... I will put up some air fences in the future.. Not cleaning out any bogs though... I will bring a "guest" in for that.. Or apply for a BCR (Bog Cleaner Replacement) facility... Edit: You can see tonight how seriously the Promoters and Riders take it.. When a Manager can swap sides with his own team somewhere else, and a rider be happy to take a booking riding for a team that isn't his own, when his own team has a match, it tells you everything about why it can never be taken seriously from a "team sport" concept. .. As even those who belong to teams have zero emotional attachment to them, hence represent someone else without a moments hesitation. .. In a "proper team sport", (that meant something), neither would have have taken either role as their loyalty would be solely to their own team and no one else... And let's face it, in a "proper team sport", they wouldn't be asked. .. (Imagine the reaction if they did this in Poland?)...

He gets first dabs on the most camera time...

Youz in eat wun Laggy bro, innit....
-
Sadly it isnt... And that is the real fundamental problem...
-
Seem to remember Shawn Moran doing the same in a Speedway Star knockout cup final.... A winners and a losers medal.... Mickey Mouse also donated his BSPA watch...
-
Phil Morris will sort it.... He has that Red, Blue, White and Yellow strip now for the bikes to line up in the pits on during the TV matches... Properly prioritising the key issues...
-
The only person he hasnt guested for...
-
Tens of thousands, who still follow the sport closely, have asked that very question over the years... Only problem was, the "guests" never turned up...
-
Even more reason then to not be there...
-
A Peterborough Manager "guests" for King's Lynn, whilst his team ride at Wolves.. Whilst a Witches rider, who cannot ride for Ihis own team, "guests" for Peterborough, the team whose Manager is "guesting" for King's Lynn.. An official statement has been put out though I believe... It simply says... "Please, please, please come and watch this nonsense we continually serve up to you".... "Oh. And we almost forgot".. "Bring a friend as well".......
-
I am sure if he isnt then we will be told well in advance of paying our money to watch... About 7:59 my bet......

I wonder why the sport doesnt have any major sponsors?
