  1. Got mine signed by the great man last Momday.. A fantastic read.... Many of the meetings he writes about I was there for, so full of memories for me... The pre Speedway life was also very interesting and just the right length... Well done to all involved and for anyone who hasn't yet purchased it, don't miss out....
  2. Not had a weather forecast on here for a few hours..... Nor a track update... Standards are slipping, they really are.... Often more exciting than the meeting they allude to... PS. Don't forget the 4hrs Max in the supermarket car park.... PPS. In the event of a tie, they have dispensed with the "Super Heat" and the Officsl BSP Cardboard Box is currently winging its way from the NSS as I type... Hope all have a good day....
  3. To be fair to the ref... They probably thought that working all that out would have taken till Friday lunchtime... "Anyone got a box and 3 pieces of paper?"...
  4. Certainly has built up a strong affinity with the fans.. Threw himself into the crowd at Sheffield after the meeting was won, and no one celebrated more than he did... Would be an asset personality wise for the "Aces Brand" and will have some gravitas from riders given his status attained by his achievements... As for next season, he is easily good enough to run an 8 point average at home, so double points most weeks given he will be in the running for Ht 15....
  5. I remember Matej "paddling around" in Heat One a few years ago... He got to the end of lap one and thought "sod it".... I did remind him, using some choice Anglo Saxon nouns to describe him, that it cost me the thick end of £100 to take my place in the crowd that evening... Edit. Wouldnt surprise me to see Matej as Team Manager at the NSS some time soon/when he hangs up the kevlars, especially as Mark Lemon focuses more on growing the brand as CEO..
  6. Lakeside away used to "spookily" seem to always fall on Slovenian Championship weekends too...!
  7. A bit ironic isn't it? A Speedway event without many guests......
  8. Truly a ridiculous way to run a sport.... Any sport.... Even worse when it tries to pass itself off as "professional"... The only year I think the sport has been well ran and organised in the past three decades or so was when Covid shut it down... The end to this season, indeed the season in total, has been particularly poorly delivered..... Next season no doubt will be a similar 'rinse and repeat' story line with absolutely nothing learned or changed off the back of it... Hence so many passionate fans of the sport will pay infrequent visits, if any at all, once again, yet spend plenty of money watching it elsewhere...
  9. I think they have learned from this season's Jubillee Cup fiasco... So William's first one should be a doddle..
  10. Good old Bomber... He would ride Xmas Day if he could... And, unlike others, his season doesnt stop on Oct 31 dont forget... He will have about 12 end of season awards ceremonies to attend... Must be favourite for "Rider Of The Year" and "Most Points Scored" too in a fair few...
  11. What s truly ludicrous way to decide a three way split... Rock, Paper Scissors would have been perfect... Rock beats Sciasors... Scissors beats Paper... Paper beats, Ro.... Oh! Hang on a minute... As you were... Well done the BSP....
  12. Isn't this the stadium that was under the threat of closure due to late night noise issues, brought on by the complaints from a local resident? I suppose though given they all seem to be struggling to finish the season in the correct month, finishing a meeting in the same day should be applauded....
  13. "If more than two teams are tied, the team with the highest scoring heat results will qualify".. Wow... Which literally means they all qualify as they all had the highest score... Do they actually get anyone to sense check their rules and regs before signing them off...? Glad I just went to get PC's book signed by the sound of things.... They are really good at running Speedway aren't they in the UK? Probably Poland's fault that so many things seem to not quite go to plan on so many occasions......
  14. If needed to.... I am sure the powers that be will come up with a very sensible and very suitable idea.....
  15. Just got back from meeting the true "LEGEND" of British Speedway that is PC... A phrase far too often overused but one million per cent applicable on this occasion... A good crowd it appeared so hopefully he will make a good few quid from the book.. And he looked really well, which was also great to see... PC....
  16. I think 1000's of fans of the sport already "boycott" meetings each week... What you have left are the true die hards who will accept any Speedway put in front of them, regardless of whether it is a credible offering, has integrity, or is even worth winning... Luckily for the promoters, "just enough" of these people will never stop going, meaning promoters can carry on season in, season out, running the sport the way they want... A pity... It wouldn't take any more money at all to run the sport properly, and would get a fair few thousand more "lapsed fans" through the turnstiles each season too I would suggest...
  17. Surprised "elf n safety" allows a tractor on the centre green still... Not seen one there for years....
  18. Yet another "National Title" that gets devalued by the very organisation that runs them... If they dont take them seriously, then why expect the fans to... No real point attending the "qualifiers" throughout the season is there, when the finals dont seem to matter..
  19. Given the (how apt), decades old "track record" of the sport in relation to such things, I would be truly amazed if anyone expected a full compliment of riders who were not previously out injured.. That neither side gave up the details about their missing riders till quite late on in the piece speaks volumes as to how they choose to run the sport in this country... But.. The vast majority of us know, and expect, things like this to happen this way dont we? If you still shell out for such a nonsense situation then you cannot really blame the promoters for providing a service when so many still purchase it... Planning to run a qualifying event two weeks after the Aces had been crowned Champions of the same competition is simply ludicrous isnt it? Therefore, if that is your starting point, then anything that happens after that cannot make it any more ridiculous or less significant... The home team won, there was some good racing, and lads got a chance to earn a good few quid before the season ends.. That's the only aspirational criteria for UK Speedway...
  20. Home made proggy board... Nice bit of 24 inch by 12 inch wooden board, painted in white, (two coats and then varnished so as not to chip)... With stickers on them of riders from the 70's and a huge bulldog clip to keep my programme in place, which also allows for three different coloured pens to be held there tightly and securely.... I do obviously keep spare pens (of the same three colours obviously) in my corduroy jackets top pocket... I have boxes of SS's for each season, and all boxes are clearly labelled in chronological order in my loft. (As you say all the contents are in date order too).... Meaning if today I suddenly felt that I needed to review for example how well Bob Valentine did in 1975 then all I need to do is open that box, and hey presto I can read through all his performances for that season, including his Aussie season... Happy Days... Happy Days....
