Watching Tai is truly like watching a 'potential great'.... He seems to have so much time on the bike to look around, pick his line and then execute the move..... All 'seamlessly',,,,,, His pass of Pederson reminded me of PC....... ie He never had any doubt that Nicki was there for the taking and just simply got himself in the right position to deliver... No mean feat against a rider as exceptional as Pederson...

Just a hunch... The 2016 Team 1. Club Legend Asset 2. Unheard of Dane or Swede who has "lots of potential, many clubs were interested in him" who will then become an asset 3. DU rider, second heat leader level in the PL, preferably an asset. 4. Unheard of Pole or Yank who has "lots of potential, many clubs were interested in him" who will then become an asset 5. Club Legend Asset 6. FTR from Cradley 7. FTR from Birmingham (Only joking of course)........!? We have had 'same old, same old' at BV for years. George Carswell has made a big difference to our team as he has got more involved.. Looks like Wolves could do with a 'fresh face' to come on board too...?

Agreed... A few weeks ago the fans raised over a grand for him to replace kit he lost in his van crash.... Allied to Mark Lemon spending time with him he has made large improvements recently. .. -

I notice no Swindon rider beat Scott tonight!!!!! An omen hopefully......! -
Starting to worry already???
-
Belle Vue will comfortably be the second highest point scorers in the League, even with some teams having one more meeting left.... Make of that what you will.....
-
Just 9 out of 30 race wins... And three of them from the reserves..... Still, at 25 quid a pop, I bet the points money was well covered tonight!!!
-
14 heats and just two races won by a home team.....
-
Well done to the Aces..... Will Poole fancy the trip to Kirky Lane?

King's Lynn V Swindon 9th Sept 19.45

Could do it like that Tommy Cooper sketch when he sang "when I'm calling you" and dressed 'half and half' as both the man and the woman.... Chris could have half Cov Kevlars/Half Swindon's... And have a half Red helmet/Half White... Could work...... Would halve the amount of guests needed.... -
Always seems to end the season well Bomber doesn't he? Is it the colder nights meaning more moisture in the tracks and different engine characteristics? For me, if he rode for BV at Wolves on Monday it would certainly improve the Aces' chances...

Coventry V Swindon - Wednesday 2nd September
mikebv replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
He definitely has a 'system'... Watching him, he does seem to drop the clutch as soon as he sees the magnets 'twitch'.... Fair play to him, as when you watch in 'super slow mo' he often doesnt move before the tapes starts to rise, yet to the 'naked eye' he is found 'guilty' as he leads the other three by a distance ... His reputation does seem to be going before him, a reputation maybe achieved by doing the same on tracks with no 'slow mo' TV coverage to support his starts?? -

Come on... If all 8 teams ran on the same day where would they get the 24 guests needed from?? . . -
Sadly a clear indication as to the way the sport has gone.... For many promotions the less meetings you have, by definition, the less loss you make.... You also have the fact that any opponents you bring in for 'extra meetings' may also have no home meetings left themselves so paying their own riders is an issue.. Makes economic sense, but sends out another very clear message as to the state of the sport in this country...

Great Post Rob.... Bottom line is that before 'the net' people just simply didnt have a 'voice' that forums like this has brought.... Therefore they just 'drifted away in silence'.... The decline in the sport in this country was well under way before the advent of the 'world wide web' the difference now is that people have a medium to give their opinions and contribute to any debate... The biggest surprise for me is that all the unsolicited feedback that those who run the sport can get from here and other social media, as to why people have 'drifted away' is, it seems, roundly ignored... If my business was lurching so badly and my loyal customers felt the need to tell me why they no longer frequented my establishment in as many numbers, I'd like to think I would use this information to improve things for them and re-engage them with my business... Obviously everything is so rosy in the speedway garden it can afford to ignore its previously loyal clientele and carry on with its 'ultra successful business plan'

Speedway Star Interview With Alex Harkess
mikebv replied to lastword's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
in summary for those who havent purchased a copy.... "The sport has many, many problems"... "Many of which we know are self inflicted as we have made decisions to solve other issues which have left bigger issues in their wake".. "Promoters constantly argue with each other, seeking to gain an advantage which the MC then try and resolve" "We know what is happening isn't right if you want to run a professional sport with integrity and expect to generate a crowd that believes in what you do" "Ultimately we cannot fix all the problems as we don't have a magic wand"... And one more... "The weather has been really bad this year which has been a major reason crowds are down....." Suppose the last one is better than saying that the World Athletic Champs in Beijing or The Tour De France are effecting the crowds.... The again, the Boat Race being run on a Saturday must effect some tracks surely?? -

Swindon's New Stadium
mikebv replied to remembertheracers's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sometimes, but not always... Agree with the wider the better but for me it's more the shape of the track that delivers the racing... You can have an almost circular 'small track' like Gustrow that can deliver great racing as straight line speed isnt the 'be all and end all'... Sometimes the longer the riders are sliding the more the rider with real talent can use it to get the drive he needs Could Swindon fit that type of 'footprint' inside the confines of the greyhound track?
