  1. Team Speedway in the UK hasn't really bee taken too seriously for a long, long time, hence no major sponsors for decades.. Guests used to be a "necessary evil" (allegedly), with their appearences limited to "now and again"... Over the past two decades they have become something that surprises you when there isn't one...
  2. Then have less riders per team so riders becone available.. Or, more easily, maybe, copy Poland's TAC SUB rules and/or have a fit for purpose RR system..? There are only guests because it is "easy" to run with them.. But by using them, you can never take anything the sport delivers seriously...
  3. I thought that was what they did.... Lets be honest, they spend all the qualifying matches during the season running it in a Mickey Mouse way, so why not just carry this on during the play offs.. Fair play to them for that... You only have to see the comments on the other semi threads about Ipswich maybe using Fricke on Monday rather then Harris as he is better at the NSS to see how ludicrous it all is, and how fans just accept such nonsense... Poland ran their first leg of their final with two top riders missing from one team, with no guests, and had s closer result than the UK did with two... They also had a packed stadium, major sponsors involved, big viewing figures, and will have big financial rewards for whoever wins.. I wonder what the difference is?
  4. Just got back in... Crowd seemed decent, not sure how that fits against a normal one but the car park was reasonably well used.. Had to use my key to find my car... Racing was pretty average to be honest but I presume track prep was dictated to by the forecast.. Interesting everyone thought King and Bomber would "love the mud", but there wasnt any, and the track was slick all night... For the Aces, Dan was involved in four heats that saw a 12 point deficit which isn't really good enough for a top five GP rider, and you would have expected at least two wins from a rider of his talent, even if Emil may end up beating him twice. Two wins off Dan against the other Witches and the deficit could have been 12 points.. The rear end of his bike in the first race looked strange when he did a practice start on the back straight and his mechanics were waiting for him on the home straight as if they were expecting something to happen. He didn't seem to have "Polish Speed" that's for sure... Brady, Tom and Jaimon can walk away satisfied with their contribution, the other 3 definitely not so... The Witches were just more aggressive from Heat One and ran out deserving winners... However, leads like they have can quickly get reduced at the NSS so not over yet... I must admit, part of me would like to see the Aces lose overall by two, as it would mean a cracking meeting, and Jack Smiths second tonight then would be the "difference maker"... No one calling for King, Riss and Hawkins to be sacked tonight I notice...
  5. Fair comment given a fair few of his away performances this season... 15 next week at the NSS no doubt...
  6. To be fair, he did ride the track well last tiime, and 7 from four is doing his job... Dan has conceded 8 of the 14 the Aces are behind in his races... You would have exoected at least two wins to negate any heat advantage...
  7. It is like a faster Monmore... Go in completely sideways and use the bike length to block any outside attempt of a pass.. Kurtz the only one doing his job for the Aces..
  8. Blodorn following the rider up the inside.. Every lap.... Maybe someone should have a word with the Aces that the Witches are riding mid track and wider... Is it 8 points Dan has conceded in his races?
  9. Wright certainly would have attacked the track like Kurtz currently is the only one doing for the Aces.. No excuse for many of the rest switching off and riding the "slow" inside though... 18 points defeat would be "decent" as it stands...
  10. Aces hitting the bends far too tentatively.... Like watching them at Monmore... Ipswich flying into the turns, some of the Aces rolling off the throttle....
  11. Looks like Kurtz v Ipswich at this rate... Emil only one race so far too.. Could be a twenty plus lead this....
  12. Could be a long night for the Aces... Several riders looking very slow, including Bewley..
  13. Tell them that the National Ladies Academy will be based at Brandon... That will tick another box...
  14. The sport was massive due to the individual comps going out on one of just three channels throughout the summer on TV.. Tens of millions literally watched it... Then turned up at the tracks to watch those riders.. And in those days when PC was "somewhere else" (with Larry Ross, Pete Smith, John Titman, or Martin Ashby), replacing him, you found out when you were there, not on the internet a couple of days before... A completely different time... Time, which has moved on... Speedway (n the UK) hasn't.. "But guests are a necessary evil"... "Dribble, Dribble".... .
  15. Then it should... Simple, straight forward, and clear... Not ambiguous, not subjective... Reading that then two different "track ringers" could be brought in... Its nonsense using guests anyway if you ever want the sport to be ever taken seriously, but at least they should try and make it as least Mickey Mouse as is possible...
  16. So finally, we can all agree he didnt break any rules then.... As they were "poorly written" they were open to "interpretation" and, therefore, "challenge"... Just like all the "poorly written rules" have been brilliantly challenged and used down the years, ad nauseam, to gain an advantage by the likes of Ian Thomas, Len Silver, Matt Ford and probably many, many more... If you dont want subjectivity and ambiguity, then make the rules up using clarity and precision... . Not hard to do....
