I rest my case after tonight. How can he justify a place instead of (perhaps) Kildemans, Ward, MJJ, Iversen? It makes no sense this GP challenge thing if it allows no hopers to have one good night on a British track and demean the GP in 2015. Tin hat time again?
I believe every good thing that has been said about Bomber. He is a 100% trier, BUT.... The number of mechanical issues he has compared to (say) Greg is amazing. His bikes just don't seem to have the power the others in the GP do. Winning races from a bike length back at the first turn in a GP is almost impossible. Nice guy he may be but he devalues the GP. I don't pay to see 3 man races.
Ah, Nick. You are right. I had mine put back after parachute landing went wrong just like that. 45 years later it still hurts. It's not funny in years to come if you are not careful.
Sorry to spoil the party but I think the referee was dead right. Pedersen did pass on the inside but delayed his turn fractionally on the third bend enough to hit Batchelor who was trying to turn. Spot on ref.
Thank goodness for Tai or there would be no Brits in it next year. Until Chris Harris can get to the first bend less than a bike's length behind the others he is wasting his time and punters getting 3 man races. If he finds a hole off the second bend he can move but really there are other riders who would make the GP more interesting. Sad but true IMHO.
I remember Barry Briggs losing part of a finger in an accident like that in a world final. Strikes me this mod to lower the rear mudguard is only partially successful if the mudguard gives upwards and the hand is still dragged round the wheel. The mudguard needs to be fixed such as it cannot ride up the push bar. It would mean modifying the bar for the push but Greig could have had a serious shoulder injury in that one.
Notwithstanding all the valid criticism on this topic, has anyone read Malcolm Simmons article in this month's Classic Speedway? He hit the nail on the head. We don't have the motivation and apart from that he comments on Chris Harris starting technique. Middlo said in his interview during the WC that we need to get to the first bend at the same time as everyone else. That's not rocket science if you wish to compete. It's all very well tweaking setups but if the rider's technique is fundamentally flwawed then we are wasting our time. I have no time for Bridger's rants or anyone not wanting to ride for their country. Floppy Norris attitude was the right one with a Union Jack on his back. Nigel Pearson kept saying the boys are giving 100%. When I was at school 100% of not very much was still not a lot!! Hey ho. I guess we will be having this discussion all again next year!
Was anyone else as disgusted as I was at the insult to Barry Briggs on Saturday being asked only to present the 3rd place award? For someone of his standing in the sport to be upstaged by a couple of nonentities, improperly dressed in one case was degrading. Shame on you.
