  1. Where was the interview? Haven't heard anything, but not a complete surprise I guess. NKI took a lot of persuading to ride during this season, and the fans were extremely thankful he decided to stay the full term. He probably wants to push on with his GP plans, and like most top riders, the UK just doesn't figure in his plans for next year. I'm sure all Lynn fans (me included) are waiting to see if Chris Holder plans to ride in the UK in 2017, we would love to have him at Saddlebow Road, that would be the icing on the cake if NKI doesn't ride.
  2. As a team, how about when Kings Lynn beat Sheffield 75-15. I missed the meeting as I was at the theatre that night. Got a mate to text me the score as it went along. I kept looking at my mobile, and thought he having a laugh here. Honestly thought it was his idea of a joke! But that was the perfect score, wonder if its happened before or since in recent years?
  3. Sorry I'm a bit late to the party here, but I can only endorse what other people have been saying, thank you Sue, you are a Star! I've followed the updates from numerous campsites around the UK as I trail my caravan to distant places, and even when I've been on holiday abroad. Last season I was following my Kings Lynn Stars exploits from the lovely island of Malta as I watched the sun go down over the Med with a cold beer in my hand. Its all thanks to you Sue, so here's to the next 12 years.
  4. I thought it was an excellent statement of intent from Dale on the Stars/BSPA web site. Although I thought Olly Allen would be a good choice, it stands to reason that Dale was always going to be favourite for the position. I wish him well in his new position, and lets hope he is the excellent communicator the Rob has been over the last few years.
  5. I agree with Blupanther, Olly Allen would be a good choice for team manager assuming his other training commitments at Poultec wouldn't prevent it, and assuming he would be interested in the position? He lives locally, is an ex Lynn rider, knows everybody in the sport and is an all round nice guy who I'm sure would motivate the team. He is also in the right age group, being not too young or long in the tooth! He knows the sport inside out and I'm sure would command respect with his vast experience. I'm sure Colin Pratt would make a good team manager, but I wonder if he really wants to trek all over the country every week at his age?
  6. According to Rory's Twitter feed, he has already signed his first contract for 2017 and has pencilled in the first meeting. He doesn't say which club though, or even if it is in the UK? https://twitter.com/RorySchlein3?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw
  7. I think the AGM should also look at the situation when a rider HAS to be excluded after an incident. At the referees discretion could there not be a "no fault" re-run with all four riders? Sometimes its very difficult, even with a TV replay to blame a rider. I'm thinking of an incident where a rider locks up, the following rider lays down to avoid a nasty accident, and is then excluded for his trouble! Unfair or what?
  8. Very sad news, he was the voice of Speedway for me, and will never be bettered. I'm sure Pearson & Tatum still use his expression "you could throw a blanket over all four of them" when commentating now! At last nights World Speedway Riders Association Dinner in Norwich, there was a minutes silence in memory of Dave, a fitting tribute to a great man. My condolences to all his family and friends. Dave.
  9. Yep, my stream vanished just before the final...typical!
  10. Just a big thank you to all concerned for posting links to various updates sites, I'll be following Robert Lamberts efforts, but we must not forget it was only a couple of years ago, he was still at school, and now he is mixing it on the World stage with some of the best riders in our sport. Good luck Robert. It also makes me smile to think that we are talking about the lack of live TV coverage of the event, when only a few years back we were totally ignored by all forms of media, there was no such thing as "live updates or streaming" on the internet and I can remember waiting for my parents copy of the Daily Mirror to arrive each morning, so I could see the results from the previous nights matches in a tiny little box at the back of the paper, marked "other sports" How things have changed ! Lets hope for a safe meeting for all riders, and maybe we will see some new faces in the GP next year.
  11. Or just watch it live on a stream !! Edit sent you pm I'd be very grateful for the link if possible. I get BT Sport 1 as part of my Broadband package, but like others, can't justify the extra cost for the the odd speedway meeting on BT Sport2. I'm an old age pensioner after all!
  12. "What a terrible crowd at Belle Vue tonight. A couple of hundred at best?" Just curious Steve, how did you know what the crowd was like at Belle Vue last night? If it was as low as you said, then that really is a worry for the BV Management. Even with a new stadium and a top of the table team, you still have to market your product in any business. Unfortunately this seems to be the downfall of our sport in general these days. Lets hope the Stars can do the same to the Wolves tonight as they did to the Aces last night. Weather forecast for West Norfolk tonight suggests the risk of thundery showers though.
  13. I don't suppose this meeting is being covered by Radio WM ? I do know they cover some Midlands matches, but not sure if they only do the Elite League with Wolves? Anybody know, as I can't see anything on their web site schedule.
  14. I'm surprised so many of you arrived at the track early and then paid to enter the stadium when the weather was so suspect. When I've been in a similar situation at Lynn, I arrive at the last minute and sit in the car listening to the tannoy for any announcements. If I hear bikes warming up, thats a promising sign, but I still don't head for the turnstiles until I hear the riders are on track for the first race. I also have a look at the Met Office rainfall radar to see if more rain is in its way! None of this is a perfect solution, but it does reduce the chances of having to fight for a refund as some on the forum have had to do. Kings Lynn used to offer a text message service to alert you to a called off meeting if you subscribed, probably another good idea from JC but that doesn't happen now. My final solution, if in doubt, stay at home. Its a 100 mile return trip from Norwich for me, and I aint risking my money for nobody! Sorry all if my last post arrived in triplicate, not sure what happened there. Technology...doh!
  15. With the greatest respect to Nathan Greaves, losing Josh Bates tonight as a guest is a rather big blow. Hopefully if there has been some rain, the track will be grippy which will suit the Stars. I think this will be too close to call, as others have posted I think the key may be how the reserves score.
  16. If the Stars could get their gating gloves on tonight and sneak a win, their rise up the League table would have another big boost. Its surprising how a couple of wins can make all the difference!
  17. Woofy has disgraced himself and the sport by his appalling swearing and messing about on the podium. We always push speedway as a family sport, and yet in front of all the families at Cardiff and all those watching on live TV he uses a four letter word and thinks its funny. Grow up for goodness sake and behave like a world champion. Take your example from Greg Hancock.
  18. I thought tonights broadcast was an excellent idea, well executed, and the way to go if the BSPA want to involve the fans more. Its a pity the questions could only be asked via Twitter, as I don't "tweet" I'm sorry I think Twitter is a daft concept, but thats just my view! Why not have a temporary email address for us "normal" people to ask a question? There weren't any sensational revelations, but for a first attempt at the idea, I thought it was very good. Well done to all concerned.
  19. I thought Natalie Quirk was a superb presenter, and I don't think Scotty said "you know" once! Well done Scott a very professional peformance and the two of you made a great studio team.
  20. I think you will find Darcy Ward rode for Kings Lynn in 2009, before signing for Poole in 2010. I suspect wanting to ride alongside his best mate Chris Holder may have also had something to do with the move? I do agree with your post though, Matt Ford has always had an eye for exceptional talent, and that has been proved by all the names on that list. Like him or not, he has set the bar very high, and most other teams just can't reach it. As Steve S said, its up to the other teams to raise their standards, not Poole to lower theirs. He has made the right descision by signing Bjarne, and lets hope Davey can sort out his problems and come back a stronger rider.
  21. As an existing customer you should be able to get the full sports for £3 month extra atm. Thanks Danny, I'll investigate that. There are so many permutations of Sky/ Eurosport / BT and in the past Bet 365, however you can't beat watching it live. Oh....I can't do that tomorrow as its cancelled!
  22. A lot of people have sky for the speedway, can see a few cancelled subs at this rate. I was one of those people who subscribed to Skysport purely to watch speedway. However, I found with so many cancelled matches, and those that got half way through, only to get rained off, it just wasn't worth it. For the last year or two, I've used the Now TV Day pass. Its not cheap at £6-99 for the one day, but at least I can pick and choose which match I watch, and check the weather before I part with my money. I only watch the occasional match by this method now, but also get some speedway on Eurosport as part of my basic Sky Entertainment package. I'm curious to see what BT do, as I get BT Sport 1 as a BT Broadband customer, but I suspect they will put any speedway on one of the other BT sport channels that I have to pay for!
  23. With regards to the camping, which may be of interest to fans coming from away tracks, I contacted the Peterborough Speedway office with a few questions, and received the following reply which may be of interest? Campers are allowed in from Friday 22nd from 5pm There is plenty of space and you enter Showground at gate 14, it will be signposted Electric hook up is an extra £50 payable to Showground on the day, this is a separate charge from us unfortunately There is sufficient space for awnings etc and you would be able to book on the day We also have security booked 24/7 throughout the weekend. I believe the Camping/caravanning charge is £10 per night with loo's and showers available. However I don't think I'd bother with the electric hook up at an eye watering £50. I can always run my fridge on gas to keep the beer cold! Certainly worth considering as a weekend away with 72 heats of Speedway on offer.
  24. I watched Kai Huckenbeck in the Best Pairs, and was very impressed. He wasn't phased by the opposition and was up against the likes of Iversen, Nicki Pedersen, the Laguta brothers and Chris Holder. He was right up Lagutas exhaust pipe for four laps, beat Chris Holder and Dakota North, and even got past Iversen from the back (briefly!) so don't write him off before he has ridden, as we may be in for a surprise. I wondered if he was a mate of Robert Lamberts, as the two have been practicing at Saddlebow Rd together, and of course Robert rode a lot in Germany before his British career started. I'm looking forward to seeing the two "young guns" together in a race, as I think they will make a great partnership. Roll on the start of the League campaign!
  25. Has anybody camped at the Showground before? I'm tempted to take my caravan and stay for the whole weekend, as the price seems very reasonable, but I have no idea what facilities are on offer, or where I would be situated on the showground. I believe electric hook ups are possibly on offer, but I can manage without as I'm self contained. It sounds as if it could be a fun weekend, but very few details have been released so far. If anybody has any tips on camping there, I'd be grateful.
