I think you will find Darcy Ward rode for Kings Lynn in 2009, before signing for Poole in 2010. I suspect wanting to ride alongside his best mate Chris Holder may have also had something to do with the move? I do agree with your post though, Matt Ford has always had an eye for exceptional talent, and that has been proved by all the names on that list. Like him or not, he has set the bar very high, and most other teams just can't reach it. As Steve S said, its up to the other teams to raise their standards, not Poole to lower theirs. He has made the right descision by signing Bjarne, and lets hope Davey can sort out his problems and come back a stronger rider.

As an existing customer you should be able to get the full sports for £3 month extra atm. Thanks Danny, I'll investigate that. There are so many permutations of Sky/ Eurosport / BT and in the past Bet 365, however you can't beat watching it live. Oh....I can't do that tomorrow as its cancelled!

A lot of people have sky for the speedway, can see a few cancelled subs at this rate. I was one of those people who subscribed to Skysport purely to watch speedway. However, I found with so many cancelled matches, and those that got half way through, only to get rained off, it just wasn't worth it. For the last year or two, I've used the Now TV Day pass. Its not cheap at £6-99 for the one day, but at least I can pick and choose which match I watch, and check the weather before I part with my money. I only watch the occasional match by this method now, but also get some speedway on Eurosport as part of my basic Sky Entertainment package. I'm curious to see what BT do, as I get BT Sport 1 as a BT Broadband customer, but I suspect they will put any speedway on one of the other BT sport channels that I have to pay for!

With regards to the camping, which may be of interest to fans coming from away tracks, I contacted the Peterborough Speedway office with a few questions, and received the following reply which may be of interest? Campers are allowed in from Friday 22nd from 5pm There is plenty of space and you enter Showground at gate 14, it will be signposted Electric hook up is an extra £50 payable to Showground on the day, this is a separate charge from us unfortunately There is sufficient space for awnings etc and you would be able to book on the day We also have security booked 24/7 throughout the weekend. I believe the Camping/caravanning charge is £10 per night with loo's and showers available. However I don't think I'd bother with the electric hook up at an eye watering £50. I can always run my fridge on gas to keep the beer cold! Certainly worth considering as a weekend away with 72 heats of Speedway on offer.

I watched Kai Huckenbeck in the Best Pairs, and was very impressed. He wasn't phased by the opposition and was up against the likes of Iversen, Nicki Pedersen, the Laguta brothers and Chris Holder. He was right up Lagutas exhaust pipe for four laps, beat Chris Holder and Dakota North, and even got past Iversen from the back (briefly!) so don't write him off before he has ridden, as we may be in for a surprise. I wondered if he was a mate of Robert Lamberts, as the two have been practicing at Saddlebow Rd together, and of course Robert rode a lot in Germany before his British career started. I'm looking forward to seeing the two "young guns" together in a race, as I think they will make a great partnership. Roll on the start of the League campaign!

Has anybody camped at the Showground before? I'm tempted to take my caravan and stay for the whole weekend, as the price seems very reasonable, but I have no idea what facilities are on offer, or where I would be situated on the showground. I believe electric hook ups are possibly on offer, but I can manage without as I'm self contained. It sounds as if it could be a fun weekend, but very few details have been released so far. If anybody has any tips on camping there, I'd be grateful.

Have I missed something, or did he drop his objections? I've not seen or heard anything about it lately. Can any Mildenhall supporters enlighten me? Good looking team for 2016. I'll be there when I have some Sundays free.

THE big battle between BT Sport and Sky is for your broadband business. That's where long term the battle will be won or lost. Very true Philip, that's why BT are running so many promotions and deals at the moment. You only have to look in any magazine or on your TV screen to see the efforts (and expense) they are going to, to attract new customers. I've been a BT Broadband customer for some while, which is why I suspect I'm not getting such a good deal as some of you guys who have signed up recently. So if the GP's are going to be on BT Sport 2, then I'm going to have to pay even more to watch them!

Why can you not get BT Sport 2? I just switched to BT and get all the sport channels included. Hi Grachan, I have BT Infinity Fibre Optic Broadband and my phone line with BT. They include BT Sport "Lite" Free on my Sky Box, but that is only BT Sport1. I can upgrade the package to include the whole BT Sport package for an extra £5 a month, but I'm curious how you get all the BT sport channels, unless that was a special promotion for new customers? When the GP's were on Eurosport, that was part of my Sky package, so no extra cost. Therefore to watch them this year is going to cost me more money than last year. I've just double checked all this on the "My BT" part of their web site, so I know its correct in my case. I'll wait until I definitely know which channel the GP's will be on then decide if its worth the extra £5 a month. I know its not a lot, but the cost of TV just keeps going up and up, not ideal when I'm a pensioner!

Does anybody have any idea what coverage we can expect on TV in 2016? It looks as if the GP World Championship and World Cup has been signed up by BT Sport in a 3 year deal with BSI, but no mention of which BT channel it will be on? I have free basic BT Sport 1 as part of my package with BT Broadband, so I'm hoping its on that channel. No mention yet of Eurosport continuing with Swedish Speedway on Tuesday nights, and I've heard nothing from Sky about League coverage for this year. If you have heard anything, then a post here would be most welcome. I don't subscribe to Skysport as its too expensive, but I did use the "pay as you go" NOW TV for some matches last year. Expensive at £6-99 a match, but nice when my team are on the box when riding away.

I seem to remember some time ago, signing up for the Clubs "regular" Newsletter, to be received by email. I think I received one, then.......nothing.

Is anybody else having a problem with the official Kings Lynn web site? Home page seems very reluctant, and some links don't work. Its normally OK, even if it still doesn't mention Troy is injured. If this is what we have to look forward to in 2016, then Lord help us. Maybe the info is on twitter, but I don't tweet, too old for all that stuff. Thank you David for all the entertainment you have given us fans over many years. I well remember your short time with the Kings Lynn Team, you had a storming start, sadly cut short by injury. What ever you decide to do in the future, may I wish you health and happiness, and if you are in the Kings Lynn area, don't forget to pop in and see us on a Wednesday night!

For me, it has to be "Cowboy" John Cook, what a great entertainer, and such a spectacular rider to watch.

Bryan Tungates funeral is to take place at St Faiths Crematorium, Manor Rd, Horsham St Faith near Norwich NR10 3LF, on Friday 13th March at 1-15pm. Everybody is welcome to pay their last respects to Bryan, but Family Flowers only please. There should be a tribute to Bryan in this Wednesdays Eastern Evening News from Derek James, who often writes speedway articles for the newspaper.

It is with great saddness, that I have to report the passing of Bryan Tungate aged 75. Bryan lived all his life in Mulbarton near Norwich, and from an early age became involved with the local cycle speedway scene. He then became a lifelong supporter of Norwich Speedway, and an authority on the history of this famous team. Despite his age, Bryan embraced the internet, and many of you may have seen his postings on the various speedway web sites devoted to years gone by. His recall of individual riders, and even matches, was a joy to behold. When the Norwich Speedway Supporters Club was re-formed in the 1970's, Bryan was one of the first to join, and in later years I had the pleasure of serving on the committee along with Bryan. When Bryan was being made redundant several years ago, I asked him what he was planning to do? Typical of him, he replied...."Become a professional speedway watcher" True to his word, he could often be seen at Kings Lynn or Mildenhall, instantly recognisable with his long flowing white beard. He liked nothing better than a chat about his beloved "Stars" and it is sad that he never got to see the team ride again at a new track in Norwich. I will miss his cheerful smile, and the chats we used to have and would like to pay tribute to one of the sports great characters. RIP Bryan. David Lomas.

I'd like to add my sincere thanks to Sue and all the gang for this wonderful service. I think we all take it for granted, that there will be live updates from all matches, without thinking of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to secure a texter and updater, sometimes at the last minute! I go back to the days, when I would have to wait until the next days Daily Mirror, when I would rush to the sports section to see how my team got on at an away match the previous night. Well said Mimmo! I endorse every word. I've watched Darren riding for many years now, and I'm sure all Kings Lynn fans will want to wish him the best for the future, in what ever he decides to do. Darren has suffered far to many injuries over the years, and it says something about his guts and determination, that he always come back to entertain us. A more likeable guy you could not wish to meet, he always has a smile on his face, and has time to chat to his many supporters. Good luck for the future Darren, and a huge thank you for all the entertainment and dedication you have shown over many years. You will be missed on the track, but I'm sure you will still be seen on the terraces at Saddlebow Road. Once this sport gets in your blood, its difficult to shake off!

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. It must have been a marching tune, as I remember the track staff always "marched" in tune to the music, from the pits out to the centre green. As much of the old Norwich tradition was carried over to Kings Lynn, such as the Stars name, the green and yellow colours, and even the lighting I believe, It wouldn't surprise me if "Old Comrades" was also used? Bill Smith would have been the one to ask, but sadly he is no longer with us. It definitely wasn't the Post Horn gallop, as that is played at 100 mph (just listen to it on You Tube!) the staff would have to run at high speed to keep in time with that! Its part of the William Tell Overture, that is played as the riders come up to the tapes. It used to be used as the riders came to the tapes at Foxhall Heath as well, I believe? Once again I You Tubed that, and its definitely the Finale part of the overture, as they come to the tapes. So I think we are still looking at the Old Comrades as the most likely march out music, unless anybody knows it was a different tune.

This is an urgent request to try and find out what the theme tune was, that was played as the track staff marched out at the beginning of the early Kings Lynn matches. Pam Hedge (wife of Trevor) contacted me, thinking it would be nice to have this played at Alan Littlechilds Funeral this coming Tuesday. I must have heard it lots of times, but cannot remember its name. I do know at Norwich Speedway, it was "Old Comrades" but not sure about the Lynn one. Anybody with a good memory? I know its cutting it fine, time wise, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Very sad news. I have fond memories of Simmo's time with us at Kings Lynn. A great rider, and true entertainer. My condolences go to all his family at this very sad time. RIP Simmo, and thanks from all the fans at Kings Lynn Speedway.
