  1. That's a tricky one. Didn't Glasgow put a match back 2 or 3 hours last year to get it run. While that's a lot of waiting around, is better than fans driving home with no racing because of a window they have to complete it in.
  2. After all the negativity he got on here, he deserves his plaudits.
  3. Oxford built a point under the limit, so looking for a big improvement from one (or more) of their bottom 5. Probably will be a different prospect around their home track, but bonus points will be harder to come by than last year.
  4. With Oxford's long tail this sort of result could happen from time to time, but I didn't expect them to lose by this much. Early days but can't see Poole losing many aggregate points / ties.
  5. I think Poole should have given Perry a 4th ride, surely it's more important to give him track time than to win by 32 points instead of say 30?
  6. Not so easy to find re-staging dates despite clubs seemingly having so few fixtures. I looked and Scunthorpe or Workington or Scunny have a NL fixture, on every Friday till well into June, when I got fed up of searching for a free date. Maybe they'll put back a league match to run the BSN fixture, or race on a Saturday when they have an away match on the Sunday?
  7. Now Workington & Plymouth (sort of) are complete. Final predictions. 1. Poole 2. Scunthorpe 3. Oxford 4. Berwick 5. Glasgow 6. Workington 7. Edinburgh 8. Redcar 9. Plymouth
  8. He's been a "number one" when at Leicester. So in a weaker league, certainly has the potential to put a point on his average.
  9. Great start for the Cubs. With only 5 away matches this season, that's such a great result. The pressure is on every other team already.
  10. Wouldn't say Howarth was signed to "fill Dougie's shoes". Kyle has a sub 8.00 average so is never gonna score what Douglas did, but his lower average allows them perhaps the best second string pair in the league, that could be what wins them meetings.
  11. With Jenkins moving into the top 5 in April, i'd put him at number 2. But will Ipswich do a straight swap with Rew & use him at 4?
  12. Best way to combat that would be for King & Ellis (I'd put him at 4) to perform on those heats. Not moved Doyle away from heat 13 imo.
  13. Must put the pressure on the opposition too, knowing what's coming at the end of the match?
  14. Could not agree more. All they've got to do is keep it close all meeting, with a great chance of advantages in 13+15 for the win.
  15. Harder to call this season, not really got any 3.00 riders who are expected to turn into heat leaders like some seasons have had. 1. Leicester 2. Oxford 3. Edinburgh 4. Belle Vue 5. Scunfield 6. Middlesbrough
  16. In the pre-season review in the weeks Speedway Star Peter Adams makes the most bizarre take on the Witches riding order I've ever heard. The riding order is key but I never quite understood why they had Jason and Emil in heats 13 and 15. With the aggregate point being so important, in Heat 13 they could only get five points, whereas if you split them and didn't have them riding together in 13, there's the potential to score six points, home and away. I'd split them, I wouldn't have them at one and five. One of them needs to be at No. 3. Personally I've never heard such nonsense from someone with so much experience in the sport. While it's true 3+3 is better than 5, he does realise there's more than two riders in the Ipswich team right? For example Danny King in heat 12 should always have the beating of the opposition reserve, so scores 2 or 3. Putting Doyle in heat 12, may score an extra point, may not. But I think they are far more likely to lose points in heat 13 as even a good race by King (splitting the opposition) would be a point dropped.
  17. Probably told he couldn't ride for Leicester to encourage more guests lol!
  18. Surprised to see Max James missing for Leicester at Belle Vue. Edinburgh have a season launch event, but I'd have thought a NL fixture would take priority over that? (Assuming that's why he's missing)
  19. Would make them a lot stronger, but Nicholls won't stay due to his TV commitments. Unless they "rested" Zach for a couple of weeks, till Nicholls really has to go?
  20. But could end up racing front of a terrible crowd, some not coming expecting it to be off, others not wanting to stay out in terrible weather. Apart from wether the match could be raced, gotta consider the financial implications of racing on a very wet day.
  21. So far clubs have been calling meetings off early enough to avoid fans travelling. Certainly better for the fans than turning up.
  22. As a fan I just wanna see good racing & if applicable my team win, never bothered me if it was a play-off final (don't agree with them) or a challenge match. But I realise based on crowd levels not many feel that way.
  23. It'll take a lot of improvement from the bottom 5 to get Redcar into the play-offs imo. They certainly have potential, can they realise it? Good fixture to start with before the serious stuff starts.
  24. Both teams could be considered to have a long tail, but Poole have a strong top 4, Oxford a strong top 2, so can't see the Cheetahs getting too close. 2 home wins, but Poole to get the bonus point.
