Ipswich v Belle Vue 10th September
szkocjasid replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I don't understand why, just because you don't think your team can win you don't care? Is 4th not better than 5th, 5th not better than 6th? I'd want my team to finish as high as possible. Maybe it's a more recent thing, but it seems if clubs don't want a trophy the season is seen as a complete failure. Back in the day, I remember when a top half finish for Rye House was a dream season! -

The team is mid-table, that's not awful! -
2027 terrestrial tv maybe?

I don't know why you'd turn down a "good offer"? Could have Premier Sports & BSN both showing Premiership Speedway? -
Very much agree, i'm not surprised Dan T didn't get many rides when I saw who he'd be fighting with for a spot. A few years back when the Polish 3rd tier allowed one foreign junior to ride at reserve, I was surprised to see juniors racing in the second tier, I'm guessing they got paid more, but more likely to get a ride in the lower league.
-
I guess the team manager could ask him to step down because of his injury, but if the rider wants to ride, what can you do? From a health & safety point, can the match doctor refuse to allow him to ride, if he felt it was a danger or Smith crashing & injuring himself further or others, by not being fully fit?
-
100% agree, if he was going for sympathy & excuses for form, that only works if he stopped riding. Because of the guest rule, he's not being a team player & helping Berwick by carrying on. No-one wants to hear about a rider being in pain, I wouldn't want to watch him racing if I knew he wouldn't be able to sleep at night afterwards.

King's Lynn Stars 2027
szkocjasid replied to Daniel Smith's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I always seem to be in the minority, but I think the RS rule is a good one & hope they keep it. By all means add it to the Champ, but not remove it from the Prem. I'll use Joe T as an example, would he have received as many chances if it wasn't for the RS scheme? It's taken him a few seasons, but now scoring good points in the Prem. Poland have rules for Polish reserves, Britain should do the same for British reserves. Regarding King's Lynn, I don't know why they're always so poor. They often look like they've got a powerhouse reserve but it doesn't happen, this year sign a superstar number one & a very promising Brit & success still doesn't happen. -
I agree with that logic

Tbh I think the table toppers should be Champions. So wether 2nd or 4th wins, makes no difference to me. If 4th finishers in a 6 team league become Champions, technically they deserve it, because they won under the rules, all clubs know & agreed to.

Yes, makes sense now.

Workington v Redcar 29/08/26 3 pm Championship.

Got till the end of October, but yeah, don't know why re-stagings, KOC & BSN semis take so long to organise. How would they cope with rain-offs if it was 2H & 2A? -
If it's not being shown on TV is there any reason why both semi finals can't be on the same day? Allow both clubs to choose a Monday or a Thursday for their home leg? Any reason why after finishing top not to allow Belle Vue to race away on Thursday 24th & home on Monday 28th? Could even run 2nd vs 3rd on Thursday 17th as Lynn are fighting for 4th place?

Ipswich vs Sheffield Monday 7th September
szkocjasid replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Clubs often offer a free programme to season ticket holders in situations like these. -
I'm surprised at how often riders fight for the lead in a pairs event (when it's the semis / final). Going from 2nd to 1st gains nothing. If you try to block 3rd & get passed, you've not lost anything!

Pairs and CLRC

I get where you're coming from tk a degree, but Lawson wasn't looking behind much, so it really just looked like he was trying for 2nd, rather than worrying about the rider behind coming round him. -
So Wednesday 9th is free to re-arrange the Harbour Masters?
-
Back in the day, track staff would know they were needed every Friday, maybe plan holidays around away matches or world finals if they were very keen not to miss a match. Nowadays, they may have other things to do on a Friday, but keep the calender clear on the rare occasions their club has a home match? I can understand, not wanting to keep every Friday clear when clubs maybe race twice a month on average, that could go for fans too?
-
Granted the track wasn't as good as Belle Vue or Wroclaw, but I still thought it was an entertaining meeting.

Was at the cycle speedway in Leicester & looking forward to seeing the Speedway afterwards. While it rained at times, they just got on with it. Almost looks bad for Speedway that an amateur sport with brushes can get a track ready, but a professional sport with tractors etc can't?

Belle Vue v Sheffield 2x Bank Holiday
szkocjasid replied to Rob B's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Realistically Lynn won't be making the play-offs, but 2 defeats by Sheffield would increase their slim chances. If I was a Lynn fan, I wouldn't want my riders guesting for a play-offs rival. If Belle Vue were missing a rider & needed a guest, I'd be encouraging them to score as many as possible! -
Think the ref got every decision spot on, well done 👏 Brilliant performance by Australia. GB did better than I expected
